When I was in my teens, and waiting for the bus to go to the mall, there was a newfie that would come and sit with me, the first time she sat with me I thought nothing of it, but every time I went to the bus she's come out and wait with me. One time a stranger came up to me and they were acting creepy, she started to growl at this person, and they quickly left. The owner had come out and asked me if I was OK, because it was odd for her to growl like that, and said I always wondered where Baby went, I told him that she would sit with me every time I was waiting for the bus. He told me ya, she wanted out every Saturday around 1 pm, and couldn't understand why, and said now I get it, she must really like you.
Used to go to a massage therapist who worked from home and had a Newfie. I always asked that the dog be allowed in the room. I loved the moments of a doggie nose meeting mine through the table or a head butting my hand for a pat. Loved that giant floof.
My chiropractor is dog friendly and I will take my dog with me sometimes, and she loves to be on the massage table with me when I get my massage and adjustment.

When i was 4 and my sister 5, we were at the beach with my parents. My sister and I were in the water, when a "newfie dog" obviously decided we were in too deep and decided to nudge us out. Unfortunately, I thought it was a bear and screamed hysterically. The owner told my parents that they had many adopted and foster children and the two dogs were trained to watch them in the water. I loved dogs then, as I do now, and will always have a. Special place in my heart for the Newfoundland. After I was "rescued", and found out it was a dog, not a bear, I cried because I thought I had hurt the dog's feelings. The dog was more than happy to comfort me - when he was off duty, of course

Aside from jumping off the table, he was amazing and chill about being groomed. He even had a couple moments where he knew what was next and did it without being told like clipping his claws. He gave his paw before Vanessa said anything. The “wait” when he was about to shake and stopped so she could get out of range. The owners obviously love him and pamper him. Just a big, chill guy. They did so well socialising him and getting him used to professional grooming. Watching all the dogs she’s groomed til now, I’m in shock and awe at this big boy.

I was thinking the same thing since he’s groomed so often. We had a therapy dog that would come to our daycare and the kids would just lay on top of him. You would think a classroom full of two year olds would go nuts, but he was so big and so chill and that great big Newfie would just plop down and they would snuggle into his furry belly. My male Newfie was about 36in at the shoulder and weighed 150 pounds. We trained for the Newfoundland Club America’s Water Dog certification and was awarded the title when he was around 4 years old. He loved to swim and “work” in the water. We trained with a small group of other Newfie owners every week during the summer. And yes he would try to “rescue” anyone that was splashing around or being loud in the lake. It was nearly impossible to redirect him to the people in our group instead of swimming after a stranger. The look on their faces when they saw a giant dog swimming out to them was kind of funny. We would tell the people that the dogs were in training and were completely harmless. @@davidwhitton9050 That’s great that you also get to enjoy a big beautiful Newfie. They are amazing dogs. I’m sure the look on your dog’s face after hearing the donkey bray for the first time was pretty funny. My horse had heard a a donkey bray a few times , but had never seen a donkey up close. The farm next to where I was living at the time had donkeys to protect his cattle from coyotes and such. My best friend had a mini donkey for many years. We had hauled my horse to her place for a little while. When we unloaded my horse, the mini donkey immediately stated to bray. My horse had the most startled look on his face which made us all laugh. Thankfully, my horse didn’t spook or anything, just got a really funny look on his face. 🤠
They are the best people retrievers. I was at the lake over summer. My friend bought her Newfoundland dog who is the sweetest baby on the planet… I was floating on a raft and every time I got a little too far away the Dog wash swim up grab onto me somewhere usually my ankle or my wrist and swim back closer to the group. I was a little concerned when she put her mouth on my ankle, but she is so gentle. If I had more space and ability to properly care for a dog that size I would totally get one. I love Newfoundland dogs.
You always say that introducing your dog to grooming as early as possible is hugely beneficial for any dog and I think Hermes is a perfect example of this maxim. He is calm, he has no issue with the water or the dryer, and this means his groom is a pleasant experience for the groomer, too.
My newfie Mouse is the same way. Always looking over his should to know exactly where I am at every second. No matter where he lays down in the house it's always facing right towards me so he can just open his eyes and see me.
The best thing we ever taught our newfoundland was to shake. We didn't even use a verbal command. When it was raining and she'd want to come back inside, we'd stand inside and shake our hand. She'd shake off all the water, then come inside and wait for us to wipe her feet with a towel. She crossed the rainbow bridge over 20 years ago and I still miss her just as much as the day she passed. I told my husband that before I die, I'm getting another newfoundland before there is nothing in this world like the love of a newfoundland
I would totally get a Newfie if they weren’t such drool monsters. What a sweet boy! His face at the treats - you can tell this boy only gets gourmet at home.
I feel the same way. I have a level of repulsion to drool that I know is irrational, so I don't want to get a drooly breed and then be upset with my dog when they're just being a dog. I would definitely love to hang out with a Newfoundland for a few hours though!
My friends think my husband and I are nuts having our 3 little Malshi's professionally groomed every 1.5 months. They love their groomer and he keeps coats looking great like they are little show dogs. We get stopped constantly when we walk them. They are very cute, sweet little white fluff balls..
I love how Vanessa said bathing frequency depends on the breed/coat type. Yorkies are the same way. Their hair is closer to human hair, it is not like most dog fur. So generally speaking, they need a bath every 1-2 weeks. They also need to be spritzed with a hydrating spray and brushed every day to every other day. I have to say, bathing a Yorkie every 2 weeks seems decidedly easier than bathing a Newfoundland!! 😂 If you have a deep large sink, that will do. So my hats off to people who have to bathe a very large dog. ❤ He is precious!!! I loved how he leaned into the dryer and how he kept giving her his paw. So cute. 🥰

The owners have done excellent with this good boy. They got to know his personality and socialized him well. This is a good example of a confident calm dog. The difference is night and day.
What a great addition to the channel, though. There are so many pets on the channel that aren't used to being groomed and you always talk about how much better it is for the animal to just get them used to bathing when they're small if you can and Hermes is SUCH a good example of that. He was so relaxed and calm through the whole thing and even seemed to enjoy most of it.
What a sweet pupper!! I can't imagine the expense of having a large dog groomed every 2 weeks, but kudos to his people. I guess it keeps him very comfortable, and they get a very much non-stinky big floozy dog in the house!
I love this breed more than I can possibly say. I want a Newf so badly. I have to absolutely commend the owners and all of his groomers on how absolutely beautifully maintained this boy is. I'm 2/3 of the way through and I haven't even seen drool come out of him; he's very elegant. And that face. What a good dog.
🇬🇧Vanessa your treats are not superior enough for him!🤣🤣 When he was out in your garden, I noticed how beautifully shiny his coat is, Thank you for sharing!
I’m so happy that his owners let us meet this wonderful boy! I’m available to love him and hold him and squeeze him and hug him anytime you need me to! 👍 That face melts me! Praise for Hermes groomer!🙌🏻
My favorite part is the nail clipping/ shaving and face trimming because the dog must feel so much better to walk and see! I can’t believe he gave her his paw for trimming. What an adorable dog! ❤
i used to shower my dogs (Singapore Specials) every day in Singapore because they lay on dusty industrial floor and slept on my bed. I didn't even blow dry my dogs, just towel-dry and naturally dried by the fan. No hot spots, no skin problems, While one was a short coat like a Jack Russell, the other was a soft, medium coat. I used to have a golden retriever too. I can proudly say that my dogs did not have a doggy smell when dry, unlike other dogs. That's why when Vanessa said that it was fine to shower the dogs once a week or fortnight, I've never doubted her. Cleanliness attributes to good health for the dogs too.

I've been subscribed for a long time and never comment. But I have to say... this dog has the most beautiful coat I've ever seen!
What a handsome, perfect gentleman! He's just a dream and it's obvious his family loves him very much! ❤
Congratulations on 1 million subscribers !
What a sweet pupper!! I can't imagine the expense of having a large dog groomed every 2 weeks, but kudos to his people. I guess it keeps him very comfortable, and they get a very much non-stinky big floozy dog in the house!
Floozy 😂
She grooms for free though!
Ha!!! Damn Autocorrect! I meant floofy!@@parryyotter
@@janetkrulock1971she is not the regular groomer, though.
I wonder if he might be a working dog, actually.
He was like - "yeah, you best believe I'm a professional groomee" ❤
A two dryer Dog! So Regal and calm, lovely boy!
One hug from that beautiful pup could turn anyone's day around.
That stoic expression while getting bathed was adorable ❤.
What an absolutely beautiful boy...in features and spirit!!
Omg 15:23 when he sits and just gives his paw when she gets the nail clippers ❤❤❤
He’s just so calm and regal. 🥰 What a good boy
My late MIL had a St. Bernard/Newfoundland mix who was hugely protective of her and hated everyone else. He was a beautiful dog.
you've got 1 million subs on this one! congratulations, Vanessa!
he's got beautiful eyes❤
I like that I learned about Newfies retrieving and rescuing from water.
The way he turns his head for you to dry him! What a hoot!! From Nova Scotia…
How can you not fall in love with this boy a my gosh so well behaved parents really love this boy best dog parents ever !
What a beautiful, sweet boy! Hats off to the owners for taking such beautiful care of him. And to Vanessa for her great work.
Such a gentleman dog.
These guys really have an amazing temperament ❤
Well done on the million viewers 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
This fellow was truly the bestest boi! He is gorgeous, and you deserve to have dogs that are easy to groom. Very enjoyable ❤
🇬🇧Vanessa your treats are not superior enough for him!🤣🤣 When he was out in your garden, I noticed how beautifully shiny his coat is, Thank you for sharing!
He's so handsome, I love him! It's hilarious that your nonna wanted to come by to help with the big dogs, like she could do much haha
I’m so happy that his owners let us meet this wonderful boy! I’m available to love him and hold him and squeeze him and hug him anytime you need me to! 👍 That face melts me! Praise for Hermes groomer!🙌🏻
Pampered, but also very sweet and well socialized. A very big dog.
Gorgeous boy. What a credit to his owners. Loveeeee
What a good boy! He was so majestic sitting there in the shower 🙂
My favorite part is the nail clipping/ shaving and face trimming because the dog must feel so much better to walk and see! I can’t believe he gave her his paw for trimming. What an adorable dog! ❤
I LOVE when the doggies smell the brushes/equipment. I can see their getting a sense of ownership. 🤩🤩
What a sweet boy! He was sharing his bath with you. He wanted to make sure you are clean too! 🛁❤️
I love to see him all clean! And also love to see him be happy when he was outside. What a good boy!
Every week I think, “this is your cutest client,” and then you come up with another one. Brava!!
What a beautiful boy. Wish he was roaming around my home.
I love Newfoundlands! Hermes was an angel! We love your Nonna!
Oh how I'd love to give Hermes a huge hug! He is just a beautiful baby.
I love seeing these well socialized dogs. It shows what good training and desensitization can do for a dog.
There is something about the rinsing part that is so therapeutic.
That trusting vacant look. They are supreme creatures......just love them
What an ideal video to compare dogs new to grooming an nonchalant about grooming! Love this side of the behaviors.
I love how he participates with blow drying ❤
i used to shower my dogs (Singapore Specials) every day in Singapore because they lay on dusty industrial floor and slept on my bed.
He’s so well behaved and adorable. That was so cute how he handed you his paw for the nail clipping.❤
I love it when dogs lean into the blow dryer. XD ❤❤
How totally refreshing to watch you groom a dog who isn't whining, crying, jumping, or otherwise being a wreck. Just a lovely, calm Newfie xxxxx
LOL. The escape attempt!
What an amazing dog! He looks like a big teddy bear with very kind eyes!
