Another blast from the past. Thanks! Think it’s the 70s....brings back memories of being in my dad’s car with this music on the radio. And about SPB, he supposedly recorded 6-8 songs per day, and if pressured by movie makers who were begging him to sing in their movie, and felt he could refuse, he’d sing on Sunday--so then it would be 12 songs!

The guy with the glasses who had a lot of energy is Mr Chandrasekhar. That movie was his debut - movie name - Nizhalgal - year - "1980" hence the crazy white pants😂. We were still in the hippie wave back then.
Director - Bharathi Raja - Music director - Ilayaraja. Few of the comments below did highlight the fact that Ilayaraja showed up in the song too.
So the energetic guy auditions as a composer for a movie. The guys who were smoking in the beginning of this song were the producer and director of the movie.
They liked his tune, and he started dreaming but his future- hence the reason for the orchestra in the beach.
How ever before each paragraph of the song starts we are brought back to reality where they show that he is still on auditions playing the tune we heard with funky guitars and drums. He has convinced the group by playing the tune with just a harmonium.

While the songs of films with the directors and actors you have mentioned are wonderful, the speciality of Ilayaraja is that if he composes music even a junk, horrible film also be a hit. He has made directors of very ordinary caliber to give super hit movies. So the unknown treasure lies beyond the directors and actors you had mentioned. Enjoy them !!

S.P.Balasubramaniam was a Telugu from Andra Pradesh. When he approached M.S.Visvanathan, he was not fluent in Tamil language. S.P.B sang some songs upon the request from Isaikadavul M.S.V.
