For example you can turn it into like a macropad or a weapon wheel with your keykinds. You could also probably set the back buttons as your modifer keys so L4 for shift and L5 for ctrl.
Its nice that they are adding this, most people its not a handy feature but the few who will need it for a reason or want to play with a controller will be nice for them to play the game and have keybinds in WoW
Great to see that blizz is adding more and more controller support and features to the game. I cant play wow my keyboard and mouse anymore due nerve injury in one of my hands and controller makes it totally for me!
Right, controller support is damn cool. But problem is, especially in PvP; You can’t pop your cooldowns as quick as with keyboard, which is certainly necessary in PvP
Thanks for the update. Doubt I can make the switch for most content, but showing dragon flying inspired me due to the similarity of using a controller for racing or sports games
If done correctly you can have plenty of buttons at easy access to press. FFXiV has amazing controller support for any MMO ive ever played and has a way to set up your controller to quickly access 32 buttons with simple button combos plus more when you switch hotbars with 1 button press. Each trigger can have 8 buttons per trigger so 16 per hotbar. For example you press R2 and you have your 4 face buttons plus your 4 D-pad as skills to use…then the same with L2 so another 8 buttons. Think or R2 and L2 as your Shift and Alt buttons. Thats 16 buttons with a press of 2 buttons and there is a way to assign a hotbar to when you press your trigger together. So if you press R2 then L2 you get hotbar 3 with 8 buttons…same if your press L2 then R2 you can get hotbar 2 with 8 buttons to press. Also once you let go of one of your triggers it goes back to your main hotbar so its quick and easy. I have done all content including Ultimates (hardest content in the game) with a controller without any issues and a lot of world first players use controllers on PC or console. As for the menus and U.I stuff…Blizz would have to work on that somehow but FF14 makes it work with both KB/M and controller so it is possible.
hopefully they actually add in an entire controller UI so its easier to accept and turn in quests/ buy stuff etc ( think eso) but this deffo is a great first step!!!

I’ve been playing Demon Hunter with a controller for a little bit now and I have a lot of fun with it. I got my season 4 vicious mount with just a controller. ConsolePort definitely makes it a lot more enjoyable experience, the shift and alt modifier is what makes it work in my opinion. I do think it only works with certain classes, Demon Hunters and Evokers feel really good on controller. I think this will be great for casual play like world quests and stuff but end game will continue to be keyboard mouse, I will definitely use this when I pop on for an hour or so but not on guild nights
I never liked it to move a mouse cursor with the trackpad of the PS4 Controller or with the right analog stick. It's too damn sensitive to get it where it needs to go. A good change in my opinion would be, if you talk to an NPC and a dialog box comes up, that you can use the up and down button on the D-Pad to select what you want. It would make things way faster and easier. Not sure if that is changeable in the options to make it like that, but that could be a good change and quality of life to have for controller support right from the start.
They need to make it so you can navigate instantly to elements in windows, like quests, map, etc. Like controller port does. I think that's the only thing that's missing to cover all the basics.

This might bring me back to wow to be honest. The older I get i really hate keyboard and mouse hurts my hands and my accuracy is not what it was back in the day 20 years in construction has really f'd up my hands. I just wonder if you'll be able to raid with the controller?
I have an Xbox Series X which kicks my toaster laptop around. How hard would it be for Xbox to have a wireless keyboard support for Series X/S and then I can play WoW on my 4K TV if it came to GamePass or came to console? I don't even need the controller per se.
I'd be willing to bet we eventually get a console version of WoW if the Microsoft purchase goes through. I'm sure there aren't any actual plans for now, but it would work so well as part of Game Pass that they have to be looking at their options for it.
WOW Devs: - We have no plans to realease WOW on the XBOX! Phil Spencer: - Do you like your jobs? WOW Devs: - Actually, WOW runs really great in the XBOX. We think you're going to love playing it XBOX with all the modifications we did in order to make run flawlessly on the XBOX.
I'm late to this video, but I just logged on to the beta (and the PTR) and my controller is not working at all. It's plugged in, the home button is lit up (using an Xbox controller), but the game simply won't recognize it. Is there some kind of in game toggle I'm missing to get it to work? I would really love to try this out.
Them saying they “have no plans to bring WoW to Xbox” doesn’t mean anything. It’s non speak. Plugging in an Xbox controller and having the game automatically adapt the UI to it does say something though.
1:03 Funny You say that but it wont be another year or two before Microsoft does just this. Why wouldnt they? Final Fantasy 14 works perfectly fine foe console players for a long LONG time now. This is inevitably the beginning of that market for Microsoft.
You use joystick to control your mouse in menus. Idk who thought that was the way to go instead of just d-pad like every console game in existence. Lol
People down play it, but raiding with a controller is not a new concept. Neverwinter, and elderscrolls are just two games off the top of my head that do a great job with controller support. Not sure how raid healing would work in wow with a controller, but im sure something in the mod community could be figured out.
Don't let Phil Spencer, the soon to be new boss of acti-blizz say it's not coming to console/gamepass, well, if it does or does not either way I'm not bothered, glad they are implementing this as I am a disabled player who can't keybind my k/b as my fingers are short than normal ppl's, as for the control config, just do what FFXIV have done, that's fantastic, even Yoshi P is reported for being a prolific controller player.
i am a little lost - has anybody some good advice how I keybinding at best? or can show they're settings with keybindings? I am a little overwhelmed to make the settings on my own. the only things that works - are the default like using the cam and run and so on... no attacks binding yet thank ya

I know are casuals, but if you died so often surely they kick you xD but was nice to be sit so confortable playing with it.. the only pain in back then was the keybindings D: and interact with world.. outside that,, take your time and enjoy be in bed playing World Of Warcraft xD. the only hard stuff I can think about playing with a controller is being healer but.. there is a YT video someone healing already, a DH doing M+ 17+ and Pvp 2k+ too so.. Hard content is not impossible if you get use to it
btw, I use a PS5 Dualsense Controller.
Makes sense. Wow has been on a slow decline and opening up the game to controllers would be a whole new market for wow
👀 I've been wanting an Xbox port so bad I broke down and bought a Steam Deck! Glad for controller support.
awesome, will start playing at last.
How do i get the controller to work in wow? Cant find how
I personally would never play wow on console or with a controller but I'm glad the support is there for others
Anything that makes it easier to play on my SteamDeck is a plus in my book 👍
Now I can level on my tv
If you switch back to keyboard mouse setup are all the keybinds kept? Like can you easily go from controller for questing back to keyboard for m+
I will use it alot in easy content it's not bad even in dungeons and raid
how do you accept quests as i cant find any binding for left click
WOW Devs:
- We have no plans to realease WOW on the XBOX!
Phil Spencer:
- Do you like your jobs?
WOW Devs:
- Actually, WOW runs really great in the XBOX. We think you're going to love playing it XBOX with all the modifications we did in order to make run flawlessly on the XBOX.
is the controller support already out in pre patch?
They need to make this super easy for people to use with Steam Deck.
As the worlds first controller Gladiator I approve of these new features to the controller players!
Dragonriding with a controller? I HAVE to try that one out!
What is the Armour & Cloak he's wearing?
healing in raid? party? arena?
Aw heck yeah, gonna slap in my controller to my pc
This is inevitably the beginning of that market for Microsoft.
is there rumble support? You may have mentioned?
Is there a way to disable the auto-lockon feature?
Do I have to use a program for the controller or plug-in play of course keybind
I can't figure out how to get to the escape menu with controller settings
Do you still have to use a mouse and keyboard for the menus? Or are you able to use the controller for menus?
You use joystick to control your mouse in menus. Idk who thought that was the way to go instead of just d-pad like every console game in existence. Lol
i plug my controller in and nothing happens. is there a setting somewhere?
I am a little overwhelmed to make the settings on my own. the only things that works - are the default like using the cam and run and so on... no attacks binding yet thank ya
so they took my advice to add switch controller. I use a switch pro controller. Gamecube style.
Really could use a crosshair for better targeting
Demon hunter on controller would be pretty dope.
Controller support is cool and all but unless they port wow to console it doesn't really interest me. If they do however port wow the consoles then that would be absolutely awesome
I don't know I kinda like key board but controller is always better for every game but fps to me I remember when Diablo 3 was coming to console i said I'd never play it on a consol its dumb how would it even work and I played it and absolutely loved it it feels like your actually controlling your char instead of just clicking it around lol now i only play Diablo on the box id def play wow on box to even though my comps better id like to sit on the couch
As a ESO player, it makes WoW more appealing.
I don’t know how this will work with some classes… unless they streamline and remove A LOT of abilities and spells… I don’t like the sound of that…
is this not enabled in the patch?
couch gaming, just what i thought :D
the thing is if it wouldn'tbe comming then they wouldn't add controller supp. but thats just my opinion 😅
If Microsoft buys Activision Bizzard, do you think an Xbox port would come?
Not seeing where to turn on controller support
yeah it is coming to Xbox. Phil will make it so. All hail Phil!!!
U mention they straight up said yea they all lie itll be on xbox sooner or later
i turned on my controller and nothing.... how do i turn it on to recognise i have my xbox series x controller
i have the same problem
Same
Is this without addons?
"That's a bit embarrassing..."
lol. Now people will have more ways to bot. How long until controllers are controlled by a laptop?
Playing on controller makes the open world actually feel more rpg like I don't know how to explain it
