I remember really wanting to try WoW with a controller years ago when I started getting into FFXIV. It definitely feels better using M/KB when doing raids or mythics, but using a controller to do some casual questing or gathering is really comfy. I downloaded an addon that let me try it and it was really clunky but worked well enough. I don't know if bringing the game to consoles will get me to start playing again, but I'm glad they're adding controller support.
I play FF14 since it's first Beta with a controller, my group has 4/8 controllers users and we raided every single raid savage and Ultimate with controller, WHY only casual content?
@@andreluizxd2873 He says it definitely feels better using M/KB, he didn't say it IS better. It's definitely easier using a keyboard if you are used to it.

Combination RT to LT HOld is the 6th 16 HOtbar. L+ Right Analog, up and down is camera zoom. default circle is confirm, Triangle jump, Square Map, Xross Cancel. With WOW controller add on, how you guys gonna focus on damage and healing. and target enemy/party members if Dpad button default is skill?, hopefully the Wow controller support for console release can generate something similar to FF14 , by utilizing the button and combination of Trigger button.
I've been playing wow on a controller and on the steamdeck for a few months now and once you are used to it, you can play on a higher level. I did run m+ up to +18 on a controller without issues. Didn't go higher because I only wanted to go for KSM and gear. Ofcourse there are still a lot of limitations but mostly of them more like minor annoyances like: - Precise targeting isn't easy. You are basically running with tab-targeting only. It works but it is annoying for stuff like the explosive affix. - Ground abilities like heroic leap are a bit harder to control - Some vehicle quests suck, mainly because of the ground type abilities, or quest where you aim a canon or something - Quests with on use items don't work 100% with the console port ui and you need to click the items in your bag. - clicking objects or targeting npcs requires a precise "mouseover", but that will be fixed we the new feature in dragonflight. Overall the game is playable with a controller. You have enough keybinds If anyone needs help check the Console Port Discord or msg me
Depends what class you're playing. Straight forward melee dps would be easy enough but a playing a healer would be a nightmare for anything outside of 5mans. WoW simply requires too many addons right now and the pacing is too fast for most people as is, let alone adding in the bar swap and tab targetting systems.
If/when WoW comes to xbox i will definitely jump in again. I find ESO fun everynow and then and having people just talking near you on their mics just adds to the city feel when you are in one.
Only if they don't mix PC and console players. I don't want them messing up my +22 key by pulling unwanted packs with silly action targeting or failing to lay a trap at set location in microsecond.
I hope WoW does come to console one day. I've been playing on and off since late November 2004. I think it would bring a ton of fresh players into the world, and likely bring back some old players. Also, it would be nice to just sprawl out on the couch when my wife is gone for an evening and play on the big TV.
11:05 radial menu already exists for the game, its called OPie. I have used it for everything including engineering toys, mounts, hearthstone, Challenge Mode teleports and mage portals, pet action bar, literally everything
Simply use a /startattack makro on every Skill and your extra step problem is gone. #showtooltip Arcane Shot /startattack /cast Arcane Shot This will automaticaly Target your next living enemy target, even if you have already targeted another dead NPC or whatever. And it starts your autoshots even if your Arcane Shot is on CD
This is already a default thing now. No need for macros. For example. My hunter auto shots my target when I use arcane shot, even when it's on cooldown. Same thing happens on my monk with Blackout Kick or Tiger Palm. If they're on a cool down the monk just starts auto attacking when I hit the keybind. Not sure when this was added but my guess is probably towards the start of Shadowlands, as I was excited announcing to my guild in 2021 when i discovered this after playing classic for just over a year. It blew me away.
I don't play this game as often as I should for what the subscription costs me but one of the things that keeps me coming back to it is there's so much more than fighting you can do on it. Unless all you want to do is fight which makes most of the game redundant for you you're still going to be clicking a lot turning that feature on and off so things don't attack you every time you walk past them.
The modifiers come directly from FF14 controller support that was implemented years ago. FF14 is the OG of controller support, it’s so damn good I prefer it over mouse and KB. I always thought WoW would be better as a more action oriented game with controller so it’s nice to see it happening.
Actually, the concept of using modifiers comes from WoW itself. Most people will use Shift/Ctrl/Alt on their keyboards to extend the use of their left hand binding loadout. Same thing holds true for a controller, but the difference is that on a controller modifiers are a requirement to have enough inputs. It's basically the only way to do it, not some stolen genius concept from FF14.
The bumper modifiers come from experimenting with things like xpadder back in the day. And the first time I've seen an MMO use the concept of modifiers was with a really old game called Tibia.
@@jumish Yep, I've been using modifiers in WoW since 2005 once multiple action bars were added. They initially had to be scrolled through, which made playing a Shaman ridiculously impractical at first with all of their totems.
Pretty sure Ion said in a Dragonflight interview that they wouldn’t port the game to console because it was a game they built from the ground up for the PC, which doesn’t quite make sense but he pretty definitively said that it wasn’t coming.
Probably like FF14, you can push up or down on dpad the select party members. Which can be filtered to your preference like Tank first, etc. Then click your atk spell to start attacking the last target. If it's dead, then the nearest to you.
I always wanted them to port the game to consoles. I never had a real life friend want to play WoW with me because the keyboard stuff was too much for them... I think the icing on the cake would for them to make Proximity voice chat in WoW, with proximity voice, and controller support the game would feel a new level of immersive that is greatly needed as it becomes more and more dated.
@@CedZii outside the AH in org on a Friday evening, would be chaos. It's like Barrens chat, only voiced. Wow players are toxic AF, not sure this is a good idea.
@@jthompson6189 yea I was thinking about condensed areas like that. but it may get people to spread out more and utilize cities different areas more. im just saying the content it could/would provide for players would be GREAT. imagine the AH is so packed you walk into a tavern on a friday night and have a great conversation with someone sittin at the bar... endless possibilities for conversations/humor/fun/even a little toxicity never hurt, just makes the world more alive. always the option to turn it off as well.
@@nsp86 it was back when everyone was on xbox 360.. not many friends of mine were playin PC games. but to this day the amount of buttons for WoW still intimidates many.
I played WoW a long time ago on PC with mouse and keyboard and loved it. Playing it again with a controller on my Xbox would be my dream 😍! I really hope that Blizzard is doing it and that they get rid of the monthly fees.
I love ffxiv, but WoW is my first MMO love. I've been gone for awhile now, (years), but with Microsoft buying them out, getting controller support, and fresh servers, I'd prb return. :)
In all honesty they could do a relaunch of classic WoW for pc and console players, have it run through all the expansions, individually on a per year basis, then eventually have them merge in with the current expansion. This I would imagine would catch more eyes because you would be able to experience the game start to finish giving people on console more of a connection with their character while also grabbing the audience that is always itching for a fresh start experience.
I played FFXIV with K/M and controller. Really just depended on my mood. I really, really enjoyed both. I could put my feet up on my desk, lean back in my gaming chair (one of those heavy ones that supports that), and do some quests in FFXIV. It was relaxing, actually. I think this is good for WoW. I will say, however, I don't think I ever healed with a controller. I was either tanking or DPS. Healing - I feel - is tricky with a controller.
What you say doesn't really solve the keybind problem at high end of gameplay. I quit WoW years ago but i used to do Arena at a Gladiator level and i had multiple abilities bound on 5 different keybinds for efficiency. Example Silencing Shot + Focus Silencing Shot + Arena1 Silencing Shot, Arena 2 silencing Shot, arena 3 silencing shot. Rinse repeat for 5-6 other abilities like scatter short, freezing arrow when it was a thing, various stings, pet CC etc. In raiding its the same, specially for healers its very macro heavy. I'm not saying this is going to be an issue for most players, you can casually play WoW with a controller, its been doable for years, but this will inevitably create 2 classes of players if they end up desiring pushing up their rankings or tackling the hardest content in the game. Unless Blizzard utterly nuke the macro functionalities but if they do that its going to be yet another PR crapstorm for them. Best solution for them would be to create a spinoff "WoW light" version of the game for consoles separated from the main one, like Riot did with WIld RIft.
This is exactly what I have been saying. I played a healer at high arena rating for years and there is zero chance anyone is pulling off what is required for that with a controller. Even with a dozen addons for CD tracking, healbots, dualcast keys, a dozen smart macros and another 10 mouseover bind macros and it's STILL difficult to execute efficiently and keep track of everything. Most of the people saying "This would be so great and easy" are 100% rogue/warrior styled players who don't have to pay attention to all the buffs/debuffs or their teammates hps.
@@theperfectbeing Yeah i played Rsham to low glad as an alt so I feel you. I found the video he talks about where a guy plays to glad with a controller and ofc its a Ret running Ret/Warrior lmfao.
I’ve been saying it for years, if WOW came to console i would start playing again. I doubt I’m the only one. I sold my desktop a couple years ago and only have macs (never gonna play WOW on a mac) for work in the house. I’m not dropping hundreds of dollars for a new desktop when i have a “just as fast” console in the living room.
Played this game back in 2008/2010 in the Lich King era with a few friends. We started a 10 man Horde guild and had a good time :) still remember all the wipes against Algalon in Ulduar on heroic, and also the moment we finally did it :) We stopped playing when Cataclysm arrived and had to start leveling en gearing up again from scratch. If this truly happens, me and a few older friends of mine will jump back in to join the Alliance this time. Hope there will be console only servers :)
Been playing classic wow with gamepad for past 3 years. I love it! It's best for melee classes because it doesn't involve so much targeting. I would def play WOW more on console.
This looks insanely cool but as a main spec healer I’ve no idea how they’d implement a UI that is close to how we heal raids atm without only being able to play a spec like MW where they depend mostly on smart heals
I should give this a go at some point, see how it is, looks like it works very well. But How would healing a raid or BG work? that could potentially be quite a number of friendly players you need to specifically target for many single target heals.
Yeah right? Definitely still a healthy amount of functions to work out but I'm imagining having to become really efficient tab target shuffling lol. Im sure with a complimentary UI rework it could be accomplished. I think it'll retain a certain clumsiness regardless as it comes with the territory of gamepad mmo's but fun nonetheless
Even in dungeons I can imagine it becoming difficult, due to positioning of teammates and mobs and all the mechanics and effects you are trying to dodge.
its like you guys dont understand you can use the Dpad to select. Up and down cycles the party. left/right cycles the mobs. I swear some people are so braindead and have no idea how to use a controller so they make these assumptions.
@@MS-wz9jm I have not seen so clueless comment for a long time.. Either you are joking or do not have any idea how demanding it is with high graphics settings.
You mention it near the end but i'd like to repeat that playing a healer would be very difficult with this targetting system. Also I already have trouble targetting the right enemy for interupting with a mouse with them all standing inside each other all the time. controller will never feel as good as a keyboard, unless maybe you're farming things with half your brain off.
Was coming to say this, there's no way I could heal a raid without something like healbot. Sure you COULD do it, but no way to be as effective as someone using an addon.
I played with a controller for half a year, played all the healers and tanks, few ranged stuff. Think I have like 22 some odd characters atm (stopped playing awhile back). I didn't do the weird targeting thing he did so I'm not sure if he just missed an option there I only had to look at people and 'use a skill' and it worked. The only healer that was basically just impossible was Disciple priest, that thing seems to want you to be targeting 2 things at the same time to be effective and boy that felt bad. That said I wouldn't want to try and heal in a raid due to the number. I mean shit people use mods to handle that in the first place because of how absurd it is. Your better off half the time staring at health bars and clicking those. But for Dungeon content it works pretty good. Absolutely no idea how healing works in FF, but ESO it's definitely different. It's all AoE/conical placement and auto-targeted stuff based on health percents.
That’s because you’re typically supposed to press tab (or whatever your target swap key is) to switch targets to the one casting something that you want to interrupt. I don’t disagree with what you said though, healing with a controller sounds tough and M/K will always be superior for MMOs… though aren’t you able to plug in a M/K via USB on consoles for those kind of games? I think my buddy does for FF14.
I think people are putting too much emphasis on the controller support. I don't think it would be a huge problem if Microsoft/Blizzard came out and said "Hey... you need a mouse and keyboard to play this game" hell, they could come out with "xbox" branded M+K... with different tiers of products... wired/wireless, mechanical, RGB. I'd pay for a Dragonflight M+K and I quit back in Cata. Only came back for classic vanilla.
If they bring WoW to PlayStation, especially starting with a classic server that works through the expansions, I would 100% jump back into Azeroth after not playing since MoP.
@@sinweecharge8654 thats what i was thinking, but then would that remove some of your button inputs? I haven’t tried using a gamepad, but I may have to try that out.
@@CBSuper yeah, you would lose 4 buttons due to needing them for movement, the way I would do it would be your dpad moves the mouse on the raid frames then your right buttons would have your main used spells an using the left/right trigger to access to larger CD spells, would need weak auras and stuff to track the spells you can't see though.
If they do it like ff14 where your cross keys can be used for tap target or select a person in your group as long as your not hold either trigger then it want use whatever you have assigned to that direction button, so if you have pots assigned to left it won’t use you pot till you hold the left trigger if that makes since to any non ff14 players
I would probably try it out again if it came to consoles. I played from the release up until Cata, but stopped playing after that. But if they were ever to release it on consoles they'd probably have to get rid of the monthly subscription fee. It would be a huge hurdle for new players.
I can see it working well for a lot of DPS classes. However, for healers, especially in heroic/mythic raids, I think target selection might be too difficult with a controller.
same way it does on every other game. you either use a keyboard to talk, a virtual input on screen, or use voice chat, which many console players use. I swear some of you are so braindead, you cant think for a minute.
Played wow classic for a month. It was pretty fun but still didn't grab me. Migrated to gw2 that I haven't played in forever and I have had a stupid amount of fun on it. There are so many players and all of them are nice. I have not met the first jerk on this game. The mentor tagged players are so cool and help you with questions or running trains to explore the map and collect things in the game. Best feature by far imo and all mmo should copy.
My dad played WoW for years and was in one of the highest guilds in the game that were among the first to every new raid- for a short time he was even in the top 10 hunter players in the game. WoW eventually got so toxic that he and my mother decided to ditch the game forever Now all three of us play gw2 and I've had tons more fun than I ever did in WoW. Like you said, the playerbase is friendly and very welcoming to new players, not to mention the lack of grinding or kill-stealing that WoW had. I've introduced a number of my friends to it and even the one who swore she hated MMOs loves it and wants to get the expansions to play more
@@brandonlucky6441 Brandon in GW1 it was the intent to hate the Charr, then all of a sudden in EOTN they are your allies. Same with pretty much every enemy they created. Also, the writing became terrible which I'll attribute to bad writers on staff only because they filled the female quota. No thanks.
I would totally be down to play WoW on my Xbox. I have a number of physical challenges that prevent me from sitting at my PC for that much time. I used to play WoW religiously, but these days not being at my PC so much... I kind of stopped. This would get me back.
I'd very much like to see someone attempt to play certain things on console I have a 14 button mouse with a shift binding for every mouse button as well. I also have 1-6, shift 1-6, R T F, shift R T F. That's 46 buttons before figuring out movement and Jumping. I still struggle to keybind everything on my Warlock and resto druid.
It would be pretty simple to be honest. You only have to look at Black Desert on console to see how well they managed to port the game over to console with regards to how combat and movement work. Classes in Black Desert have a lot of abilities (easily 40-50 for most classes) & they use key combinations & directions to map everything. So it might be like forward LT & RB for one ability then back LT & LB for another. The options are endless and if it's designed properly and is more action based then they could easily make it work & have smooth gameplay.
i can see it being a issue in m+. mostly for interrupts tho. because of how many enemies there can be. even with a bind for focus casting and a macro for focus kick.
Everyone seems to forget there would likely be no addons unless they develop with them in mind, and neglect healing. While I agree a dps could play at ~80% effectiveness on a *controller* (not a console *especially* without addons or even just no dbm) I *REALLY* doubt anyone could heal at 50% effectiveness without any addons on a controller.
came here from asmongolds video reacting to this video. I would really, really, like a console port of WoW that's something I've wanted for over a decade now, and it would be perfect for blizzard to get a surge of new players
Not really necessary. For one you can hook up a mouse and keyboard to a console. That's been a feature for a long while now. Secondly even if your like me and would rather play with a controller, you can hook up just a wireless keyboard for just typing purposes. Thirdly most guilds and players in WoW link up chat wise through discord and Xbox has partnered with discord and has it on the platform now. So everything is covered text and speech wise. The controls for keypad are worked out. Now Xboxs acquisition of Blizzard just needs to fall through and then a port needs to be well made for Xbox before we can get to play this. So id say if they aren't working on a port atm (which is unlikely) then I don't see WoW being on console till maybe the end of 2023 or early 2024 unfortunately. I'll be buying a PC Early next year so I'll be playing it on that anyways.
if ur looking for a new angle to play wow give classic era a chance its just permanent vanilla wow, its great for a casual playstyle it allows you to take your time with the game giving your forever to get done anything you have ever wanted just got a thunder fury binding a couple months ago. the population has been increasing recently too its been the best wow experience of my life!!!!
In your "how to target mobs" bit you seem to have forgotten about target scan? bind it to a button, hold said button, "look" at the mob. Boom mob targeted. Super intuitive
Even if ppl have a problem playing with controller on ur ps5 u can still hook up a keyboard and mouse. Idk if it will come to console but if it does I’m getting it
The fact they haven’t even announced this yet baffles me. Next gen consoles can handle the game without issue and it will be an entirely new player base. I know so many people who would likely buy it and pay subscription but do not game on PC
I truly hope WoW comes to console. Avid WoW player back in the day, but keeping up with PC upgrading and all that stuff I just got tired of it all. Now I mainly jump on PlayStation here and there. Having a solid MMO to enjoy would be great.
@thewisemysticaltree5814 *shrug* either way I’d be happy. Along with Halo, Starfield, Elder Scrolls and other good Xbox titles I’d happily buy a series X.
I really only use my PC for bigger AAA games so I'd love to be able to play wow on my ps5. They could also build an in-game addon supoorter, where you connect your account to a site and just add what you want to use, kind of like path of exile's loot filter system.
imagine, addons arent needed. This is why i say that PC players are way more casual than console players. You people have become so dependant on 3rd party programs you cant even play without them
action combat has been baked into the game since legion, without that console button mod. How to enable Action Camera: /console ActionCam [option] Example: /console ActionCam full
I got really excited when they added this to bfa, and tried to play with a controller. but unfortunately I've been a PC mouse & keyboard gamer for soooo long I just couldn't get comfortable playing with a controller :( but I do have a few friends who are very excited about it possibly going to the xbox!
I've been playing MMOs for years on a gamepad, very successful, including wow, end game raiding and pvp. Final Fantasy copied my set up almost button for button
you can make any ability auto select a target with a macro for the spell btw. have been able to for as long as I can remember. but I guess you wouldn't need to anymore
For ranged you could run a macro. An old hunter macro of mine is this one below but that's like from cata days I mostly play on Minecraft now days /targetenemy [noharm, exsist] /focus /cast !Aspect of the Hawk /cast Hunter's Mark
I would love this. Especially if you can use the extra back buttons like on the Scuf controllers or Sony attachment. I love WoW, but my wrists are bad and using a mouse and keyboard just hurt after a short time so I can't play as much as I used to
Sponsored by Tunic? That's surprising! For anyone who doesn't know, tunic is the shit. It's not some raid shadow legends cash grab, it's a labor of love by one dev. I spent as long solving puzzles in search of the secrets as I did playing the main story. Definitely check that game out.
Years ago I was a wow raid healer on PC. I would like to get a hint how raid healing would be possible on console. I might lack imagination but I don't see a solution. I would love to play it on console.
I think the best way would be after you press a healing keybind. It brings up raidframes then you use the dpad to cycle up/down and left/right through the frames, then press x to cast on who you want to heal. This method would be a thousand times slower than a mouse, probably cause people to die, and you couldn't move due to mechanics while targeting, but I don't see a better or different way to do it.
Console port has a button to bring up a cursor that locks to your party or raid frames. The Dpad turns into a navigation input. When the cursor is on a raid member any heal will go to them, as long as they are in range. 10 man raid isn't that bad with 2 columns and 5 rows of people.
If it gets me the legacy movement and automatically face target settings from FFXIV into wow then I'd be happy. I don't think creating console fresh servers is a particularly good idea and would prefer everyone playing in the same space. This whole thing just seems like a given. Since FFXIV is still only on PlayStation Xbox could really use a similar game.
I played EQOA, FF11 AND FF14 and even GW2 and DDO exclusively with a controller. It's easy if they are willing to make the UI/controller support intuitive. I mean ESO and FF14 are two of the top MMOs out and they both use controller. People who think "Wow has too many buttons" so? most of your abilities you don't even use, you can make macros as well. I mean in FF14 you use most of your abilities and it has way more than WoW, so it can be done. I personally would like to see a WoW game made exclusively for console. Same world, maybe a different timeline or age, like takes place 500 years BEFORE WoW or something with controls and ui built for console.
I have a hard enough time binding my keys with an MMO mouse and keyboard... At least 2 full action bars for abilities...not to mention buffs, brez, and mount action bars...man it's going to take awhile to get that muscle memory. Ideally they need to prune abilities.
I've been telling myself for years that wow would work on console but the people at blizzard are just telling themselves "no one wants that" in the same vein they were saying "no one wants classic" It only takes like 10 years for them to realize what players want.
When it comes it definitely needs to be a console only version. Keeps the pc players happy and creates a new wow community and essentially grows both games. I know someone like me has been playing from day 1 would definitely play from start just to experience and teach my console friends and family who still haven't touched the game because of the pc barriers yet they've wanted to and have tried ff14, neverwinters, etc.. But those never kept them locked.
As far as casual content goes, I can see controller being fine As far as high end game content, it would be impossible unless they really change their philosophy on how they are doing bosses. Here are some example: Boss has a mechanic that requires an extra action button (think birdman from Hellfire Citadel in WoD), this button will require you to use the skill to pass stuff to another player, this will cause issues with targetting. How about boss that summons a bunch of adds but you need to focus target a specific add for interrupts and whatnot but it is in the middle of the other adds. How about lack of addons in console? we all know the current raid bosses are designed with DBM and WAs in mind M+ mechanics specifically Explosion, if the bomb appear near all the mobs it would be hard to target swap to them and you can't just aoe them down. I don't even want to mention PvP or some classes' ability bloat and macros for PvE / PvP such as targetting specific enemies or allies.
It's not impossible even without the new features coming in dragonflight people have beat all end game content, M+. raids, PVP. Lack of addons on a console would be interesting but as far as PC WoW with a controller its already 100% doable
@@PrincessAww haven't heard of a raid full of controller users clearing it, nor any other high end content, 1 player amongst the grp isn't the biggest deal, esp if its a tank or ranged dps that just focus on boss.

LT for 2nd 16 hotbar,
double tap and Hold RT for 3rd 16 hotbar,
Double tap and Hold LT for 4th 16 hotbar. and
combination of LT to RT hold is 5th 16 hotbar.

Ofcourse there are still a lot of limitations but mostly of them more like minor annoyances like:
- Precise targeting isn't easy. You are basically running with tab-targeting only. It works but it is annoying for stuff like the explosive affix.
- Ground abilities like heroic leap are a bit harder to control
- Some vehicle quests suck, mainly because of the ground type abilities, or quest where you aim a canon or something
- Quests with on use items don't work 100% with the console port ui and you need to click the items in your bag.
- clicking objects or targeting npcs requires a precise "mouseover", but that will be fixed we the new feature in dragonflight.
Overall the game is playable with a controller. You have enough keybinds
If anyone needs help check the Console Port Discord or msg me
Depends what class you're playing.
Fresh servers on Gamepass could be a crazy time.
Only if they don't mix PC and console players. I don't want them messing up my +22 key by pulling unwanted packs with silly action targeting or failing to lay a trap at set location in microsecond.
@@goran77ish Console and PC should be separate clients agreed
WoW is not coming to consoles... why? Addons.
@Milizé fr, nothing better than just paying 500 bucks in cash for a console with the same specs everyone else has
I hope WoW does come to console one day.
You are doing such a great job force. Thanks for all the videos
Simply use a /startattack makro on every Skill and your extra step problem is gone.
#showtooltip Arcane Shot
/startattack
/cast Arcane Shot
This will automaticaly Target your next living enemy target, even if you have already targeted another dead NPC or whatever.
I put an arrow above enemy nameplate that I have targeted. Make it really easy to tell who you are targeting.
Absolutely would love wow on console. Really hope they make it happen
It's basically the only way to do it, not some stolen genius concept from FF14.
lol, is it the og of controller support? cause FFXI got that beat.
FFXIV is not the OG of controller support 😂😂
When you take the time to properly set it up, WOW plays like any third person action console game on the market. Fantastic for questing.
I will be very interested in seeing how gamepad feels with the new dragon riding feature
Feels amazing! Almost like it was made for gamepad!
Pretty sure Ion said in a Dragonflight interview that they wouldn’t port the game to console because it was a game they built from the ground up for the PC, which doesn’t quite make sense but he pretty definitively said that it wasn’t coming.
I’d like to know how healing a raid would work with a controller, specifically how targeting group members would work
Probably like FF14, you can push up or down on dpad the select party members. Which can be filtered to your preference like Tank first, etc. Then click your atk spell to start attacking the last target. If it's dead, then the nearest to you.
I always wanted them to port the game to consoles. I never had a real life friend want to play WoW with me because the keyboard stuff was too much for them... I think the icing on the cake would for them to make Proximity voice chat in WoW, with proximity voice, and controller support the game would feel a new level of immersive that is greatly needed as it becomes more and more dated.
proximity voice chat in wow sounds a like a disaster.... Id love it
@@CedZii outside the AH in org on a Friday evening, would be chaos.

This would definitely
get me back into WOW
I agree I really support blizzard it’s my favorite company. Love their games. This would be a good transition imo. Definitely interested.

What about ally targetting for healing? Most healers I know use mouseover macros and raidframes to heal.
This was my first question as well.
Could be like FFXIV where the D pad arrows keys go up and down the party list to heal.
Exactly. I played and healed plenty of savage FFXIV content on ps4 and did just fine
healing in wow and 14 are totally different. you cant heal with a controller in WoW like you can with 14 unless they change the game.
@@GhostOfTazio Yeah....Wasn't the entire point of this comment thread to talk about how healing would work on a console, aka a controller?
They'd need to get rid of mandatory addons, like DBM to get them on console first. That will take some HUGE time and effort.
One year later, where is my Wow for console?!?!? 😂
Same question 😭😭
This could actually save wow! The age of games being exclusive on some platforms is over its 2022
Been playing classic wow with gamepad for past 3 years.
Download console port and look how the dev was able to implement a UI for healers!
So WoW on steam deck 🙌
Search for "consoleport healing" here on youtube and you'll find plenty of videos on how it works.
its like you guys dont understand you can use the Dpad to select. Up and down cycles the party. left/right cycles the mobs. I swear some people are so braindead and have no idea how to use a controller so they make these assumptions.

The ps4 and 5 controllers even have touch pads which can be used as a mouse pointer it's perfect.
@@ShredMage Just realized you meant the original post on interrupting. But yeah Xbox supports M/KB.
They can still use tab targeting with controller input. DCUO as a prime example
How would it work for healers? Just curious. Is it a scroll down the list of raid names? Automatic priority maybe? Cool idea either way.
I am guessing you would need to use your dpad to move around your raid frame
I've been playing WoW with "Consoleport" on Steamdeck lately, and it is a BLAST!
Wow coming to console might be enough to get me back into the game.
I would probably try it out again if it came to consoles. I played from the release up until Cata, but stopped playing after that. But if they were ever to release it on consoles they'd probably have to get rid of the monthly subscription fee. It would be a huge hurdle for new players.
well thats the think they would not do that they make more money from sub.
I can see it working well for a lot of DPS classes. However, for healers, especially in heroic/mythic raids, I think target selection might be too difficult with a controller.
It’s not you can key bind ally target to heal
ConsolePort makes it easy to heal with controller!
You can bind 5 or 6 different types of heals to 24 different people in your raid depending on the situation? That would be confusing AF
@@chrissears5482 lol people already suck at this game. Imagine this scenario
how would the chat work?
advanced UI options, like looking for group? social things like guild chats etc?
communicating in a heroic dungeon or raid?
same way it does on every other game. you either use a keyboard to talk, a virtual input on screen, or use voice chat, which many console players use.
Gw2 has been the pioneer for mmo for a very long time, dragonflight agrees too with the blatant stealing of mechanics
Gw2 blows. Used to be a huge fan but it's woke garbage
My dad played WoW for years and was in one of the highest guilds in the game that were among the first to every new raid- for a short time he was even in the top 10 hunter players in the game. WoW eventually got so toxic that he and my mother decided to ditch the game forever
Now all three of us play gw2 and I've had tons more fun than I ever did in WoW. Like you said, the playerbase is friendly and very welcoming to new players, not to mention the lack of grinding or kill-stealing that WoW had.

Never played WoW as I was never a pc player, but if it comes to console I will 100% try it out
i can see it being a issue in m+. mostly for interrupts tho. because of how many enemies there can be. even with a bind for focus casting and a macro for focus kick.
You might need to change the target manually to interrupt.

I know I’m a few days late, but what add ons do you use for the gameplay in the video? I love M+KB, but I’d love to try it out on my controller
it NEEDS to happen soon, they need to adapt a speech to text or maybe in game chat and it would be perfect

Let me ask you this, how is playing with a controller? Is it pretty chill to lean back on the couch?
Sure is
Years ago I was a wow raid healer on PC. I would like to get a hint how raid healing would be possible on console. I might lack imagination but I don't see a solution. I would love to play it on console.
basically some stuff may just require m&k, which Xbox supports.
Designated buttons for targeting party vs mobs. That's how FFXIV does it
If it gets me the legacy movement and automatically face target settings from FFXIV into wow then I'd be happy. I don't think creating console fresh servers is a particularly good idea and would prefer everyone playing in the same space. This whole thing just seems like a given. Since FFXIV is still only on PlayStation Xbox could really use a similar game.
"Well after years of speculation and waiting, here's some more speculation"
How do you heal with gamepad?
No.
I've always wanted to play WoW if it comes to console and it let us play with other people that would pretty great
I've been telling myself for years that wow would work on console but the people at blizzard are just telling themselves "no one wants that" in the same vein they were saying "no one wants classic"
It only takes like 10 years for them to realize what players want.
Great for the console peps, i did thought WoW would come to the phones tho since most of them can connect to a controller with ease.
I played it via steam deck via the controller mods, It works.
As far as casual content goes, I can see controller being fine
As far as high end game content, it would be impossible unless they really change their philosophy on how they are doing bosses.
Here are some example:
Boss has a mechanic that requires an extra action button (think birdman from Hellfire Citadel in WoD), this button will require you to use the skill to pass stuff to another player, this will cause issues with targetting.
How about boss that summons a bunch of adds but you need to focus target a specific add for interrupts and whatnot but it is in the middle of the other adds.
How about lack of addons in console? we all know the current raid bosses are designed with DBM and WAs in mind
M+ mechanics specifically Explosion, if the bomb appear near all the mobs it would be hard to target swap to them and you can't just aoe them down.
