Loved them up until that soppy "The Reason" and turned off after then. Some great tracks prior to that though, this being a prime example, and Crawling in the Dark.

I saw them live back in the day at a small venue down in Deep Ellum in Dallas. Fantastic show it was. I am so incredibly bless to have terrific music like this to remind me of how much fun the world used to be. Seems like now there are too many people who need hugs and are constantly looking for reasons to be pissed off at something.

He did use a semi-hollow guitar though, so yeah that's a totally achievable sound.
He’s using a piezo pickup in that Camo PRS Custom 24 (the piezo makes it sound like an acoustic as well), you can see 2 output cables coming out of the guitar, one is normal and one is the ‘acoustic’ sound. 🤟🏻
Moakalatte was looking through the comments to find someone talking about the piezzos. They sound so good here. I remember way back in the day wishing for something like this so it’s exciting when people use them well, technology rules.
Yeah as others have said, there’s traditional magnetic pickups in the guitar that provide the regular guitar sound, but then piezo transducers in the bridge as well that are like tiny mini microphones and give an electric guitar an acoustic quality. You need two output cables and signal paths. One for the traditional guitar output through amp, and turn the other out to a DI box into a pa, and then you can blend them or use one or the other

hoobastank had a few really big hits, but they still never got the recognition as a band for their musicianship - dan estrin is a phenomenal guitarist, but the song structures never really allowed him to space out and stretch
