Very good review!!! You tested two models, gave your thoughts on them, comparing them to the older models. Not comparing to other brands, which in my opinion makes this video a professional review. Props 👏🏽
I have a mate who has a 2010 XC and it amazes me on how well it goes off road, heaps of torque up the hills puts a DR650 and a 660 tenere to shame, I am seriously considering buying the new XCA to replace my 1998 BMW 1100 GS, technology has come a long way in 18 years.
An absolutely fabulous review and spot on!!! I own the 2018 Tiger 800 XRT, and it is, by far, the best bike I’ve ever ridden. I don’t go off road, but on sketchy surfaces, it handles impeccably. On smooth surfaces, it’s like a hot knife through butter. The only change I made was to put on a Roxx Riser. I ride the seat in the high position, and this helped tremendously with my body geometry. I’m 5’10” tall. This bike delivers on all fronts!!!
Love my 2016 XCa. I won't take a beating of $5500 to get an 18 though for LED lights and new clocks. I simply put a one tooth smaller front sprocket, ROx Risers and a GIVI screen to offset any shortcomings.
Nice summary. So a Tiger 800 (and which one) over an Africa Twin for mainly road touring with some offroad? And why would you go for a new Tiger 1200 rather than the new 800?
This is one the bikes I have been dying to learn about this year. Looks like the sweetspot of all adventure bikes in terms of comfort, power, budget. Doesn't hurt that it's a looker either.
Hey! Thanks for a great review! One question - you say XR is more planted and "feels" better on the road but you also say you picked often XC version. I plan to do 90% street (mostly city + some bigger trips with passenger) and 10% dirt/gravel roads. Which one should I pick?
Are stronger rims one of the 200 new changes on the XC models? The stock rims on my 2015 XCx bend too easily and the spokes are weak. The Tiger is phenomenal and fully capable off-road beast. I have 14000 miles on mine and half those are off road. The rims are a major shortcoming in my opinion. I ended up getting some excel rims built with heavy duty spokes. Great video!
what pressure do you run in the tyres? SO far 33,000km my rims are still fine on the XCx, though some riders here in Oz have bent rims ( same as KTM, BMW,Honda)
Could you please comment on whether the XRt bike was good on dirt roads? I'm not so interested in going on really rough off-road trips like on your 2nd day of testing, but rather on fire roads and so on. Thanks, Bob
I have the 2018 xca and the 2017 xca there is little noticeable difference on the road , as for off road I have not tried them back to back. The TFT screen is way cool though on the 2018 and the Arrow sports can is way more compact than last years. Switch gear a lot better now as well. The screen is 1000% better and now adjustable. But the engine as I said on road hardly any noticeable difference.
Great review and an excellent piece of film making; almost makes me want to buy another Tiger. On my previous 800XC I just found the engine a bit lacking compared to the sister 675 motor in the Street and the Yam 800 triple of the MT09 and Tracer. Still a great bike mind.
Cool technology but for me a 2000 Thunderbird 900 Sport is the ultimate. It could be better if it had fuel injection but it has an analog speedo and tach. Screw that ride by wire and lcd "dashboard" crap. It is a motorcycle.
Hi, i just need some opinion. Should i get the XRX or XCX? I mainly commute 85% of the time, on road touring 10% and off road touring 5% of the time. The off road i occasionally do is loose gravel, hard pack mud and some sand(nothing technical). Im always torn between "having it and not need it, rather than need it and not have it" so is the XRX good enough for the occasional offroad i do? side note: im currently riding a gsr 750 and recently i made friends with a group of adv riders. so at the moment im going offroad with my gsr so that's why im looking at changing my bike. im very interested in going offroading with my buddies but is the extra price of the XCX really worth it?
Pseudo? I've taken my Tiger on some pretty technical trails with 50/50s on it. I would hardly call it a pseudo adventure bike. Not to mention the awesome trails you guys took it on in Morocco. Awesome video, but Pseudo doesn't do this awesome bike rightful service!
Felt to my 6'5" frame that this has less legroom than the old model. As do the new Beamer F850/750 models. And indeed the new Triumph Speedmaster. Yet we are getting taller. So presumably bikes are being marketed for a less male Anglo-Saxon consumer? Another reason for me to hanker for a Kwak Z900RS, which caters for my long pins.
Some people do ride them all over the unpaved world, agreed. But most people ride them to and from work, with no off road riding ever involved. Particularly the XR variant. I spoke to owners and dealers about the kind of riding the majority of existing Tiger owners undertake, hence the pseudo comment. As I said in the review, it is an incredibly capable bike off road, there is no question of the new XC being an adventure bike in the truest sense. Maybe it would have been better to say that the owners were pseudo adventure bikers? Hope that helps. John
Steve put up a Real review of the 2018 Tiger XCA. Not just reading specs and doing a walk around. ruclips.net/video/rPRfTtLMAocC/видео.htmlheck out this Tiger XC action!! ruclips.net/video/80YatfVZuc8A/видео.htmlwesome Bike!!
I love this bike but it wouldn't last long where I live. Africa would kill this bike and unfortunately the nearest dealer would be over 3500 miles away. No service tech to plug into. Too complicated and too many electronics for real RTW travels.
Tigers and GS’s look almost identical to me - boring paint schemes - just blah to look at but with great performance. KTM and Honda make eye catching adv bikes. Popping with color with a nice shape and great performance.
Triumphs are becoming more expensive every year,i purchased tiger 800 in 2011,when they were first released,£7,149,now there £12,000,it doesn't look any different to the 2011 model apart from the new TFT screen, same with the all new speed triple, street triple, which look the same as the old one, strange.
Wow! what a challenge: in the good times and less... Lol (;o)* Love bikes! Melody Fox (aka the Princess of Rock) LPM p.s.: I've subscribed to your channel... Triumph Tigers GO!
Always liked how the tiger looked. Like a true 4x4 car, Jeep or Xterra the Tiger looked like a true do anything bike. They just need to stop with the fake front high fender. Would look much better without it.
Nice work folks - looking forward to having a go on one of these some time......

Glad to see you looked after the bikes as I now own one of these in the film :-)
Best review yet!...great bike, great scenery. Well done!
Love my 2016 XCa.

One of the best bikes for British roads ever!!

I run 25 PSI on both when off-roading. I just recently had Excel Rims built for both.
The tiger has the best side stand I have seen, it looks like matte aluminum. An awesome bike overall.

What a concise ride review , FANTASTIC work Really really good stuff , No bS what a change
Triumph really nailed it this time.
It'll be awesome to pit the new Tiger XC against the new BMW 850GS and see who comes on top!

Because it only dyno's at 81hp @ the rear wheel
The new mirrors look brilliant

Been forced into fuel injection. But fly by wire and lcd dash wait till that stuff starts to fail, we don't need it
Thank you. Great review. What would you recommend for road work only: new Tiger 8 XR or the Tiger Sport?
Bonny Trippler Tiger 1050 Sport has awesome torque but feels sluggish compared to the new 800
Great review mate. Thinking of the XCA. Toss up between the Africa twin, BMW and this one. Cheers.
top notch review on the 2018 tiger 800
Well thought out review. Love my Triumph Bonneville T100 but it might be time to trade it in for one of these Triumph Tigers!
Fantastic review with a lot of 'real world' data points. Definitely keeping the Tiger XCX on my list.

Nice machine and good review! I like the illuminated switch gear, nice touch...
I want to tour Africa! is this bike right for it? thank you.
Excellent informative review, great film too..
Great stuff, going to book a test ride myself 😀
Have they changed the 2018 so it does not cook you from direct engine heat like the previous models?
Pseudo? I've taken my Tiger on some pretty technical trails with 50/50s on it. I would hardly call it a pseudo adventure bike. Not to mention the awesome trails you guys took it on in Morocco. Awesome video, but Pseudo doesn't do this awesome bike rightful service!
Very good comprehensive review, subscribed due to this review. Thanks...
i think i will need to get this to add to my adventure bikes
I think I want to trade my 2015 vstrom 1000 in on this, what it like with a passenger?
don't underestimate the MT-09 tracer ... but I'd love to have a Tiger 800 XCx in green =)
Does it dive when hitting brakes suddenly or when in a curve ?
Excellent detailed review, thanks.
I love this thing.. and what a name - The Tiger
Fuck that I hope they keep mak8ng shorter faster bikes
What is the ground clearence in the xca
Kindly revert
budget bike challenge?
Pseudo adventure bike? That was a bit of an ignorant comment. People ride these all over the unpaved world

Honest review.
Nice Review

Sounds like you need an xr600r
With that DLR on it looks like an angry crow
Tigers and GS’s look almost identical to me - boring paint schemes - just blah to look at but with great performance.

I like them nice bike would like a louder pipe as the triple sound great
Nice bike.

Looks good
Love it. Now can I afford to change my 65 reg low mileage roady this year? Hmmmm
First gear lowered! Good move.
Artificial intelligence will be exciting.
nice bike, unfortunately this is really a street bike engine. Easy to burn the clutch off-road as low down torques is not that great.
You've clearly never ridden a tripple
Wow! what a challenge: in the good times and less... Lol (;o)* Love bikes!

BMVV camentarios
Absolute piece of crap..had one and nothing but trouble, terrible hot start issues, early rust and just a bad build.
