I'm going to tear apart my controller anyway, so I appreciate the step-by-step so I know what I'm getting myself into (not trying to break any clips). If there was one thing I wish you had shown was the opposite side of the remote board. Thank you for posting an hour before my search. :)
Hey ya i too was looking forward to checking the front as one of my buttons (dpad scroll up) needs to be pressed hard for a response, wondering if i can remove and clean with 99 alcohol. Thanks
@@wesleyweston8458 @dblakewood1907 have anyone of you cleaned the buttons? I have opened the remote but it has a white plastic membrane that cover the buttons, dont now it can be opened beyond that

My Chromecast remote went through a wash and mostly worked fine, but kept clicking a button. Wanted to tear it down but I didn't see any visible screws, and found this video which was immediately helpful! I was shocked at the hex screws on the inside, but hard force with a Phillips got them out.
Im having the same problem here it keeps clicking buttons and the right one is jammed, should i open it and clean it from the inside or give the motherboard a quick clean? Tell me what did you do to fix your problem
@@Asvure I took the remote apart and separated everything I could (buttons from the remote), and threw it all into an ultrasonic cleaner with 70% isopropyl alcohol. I let it air dry for about an hour or so, put it back together, and it works fine today still!
SO DISAPPOINTED, because I came here to see the OTHER side of the remote control PCB... There's only this video and one other video for the remote teardown on RUclips. The other guy didn't even remove the PCB from the casing. I expected you to flip over the remote PCB because you had flipped over the main PCB but YOU DIDN'T. WHY! God I hate it when people make incomplete videos....!
Thanks. I needed to clean my remote buttons. BTW, the metal piece is not a heat "shield" (which would protect something from heat), but rather a heat "sink" which draws heat away from something (cpu, etc) to keep it from getting too hot.
Would have loved to have seen the OTHER SIDE of the remote circuit board - I have a couple buttons that are finicky and am wondering if I can fix that.
The cover is almost impossible to take off without ruining the entire plastic rim, i got all the tools, still pretty hard. Any advice and tricks on that matter?
Thanks for posting! I was wondering if you might know anything about the white piece in the very top middle of the remote? Mine is now loose and not connected and causing a few buttons on the remote not to work, I'm wondering how I should reattach it.
Hey! I have a weird use case and I'd love your opinion. Do you believe it could be possible to integrate the chromecast onto the board of a portable monitor or even a laptop? I really want to have a portable Smart TV experience, which means I'd need to integrate the chromecast board, power supply, and video/audio out to the relevant sources on the board of a device with a display, speakers, and on board battery. Do you think a project like that is possible?
Well i wish i could either add ram or cooling to this device i keep getting lagg isues when my apartment is over 25c, this is why i looked this video up.
hello. excellent video. I have that xhromecast with google tv but it no longer goes past the logo (G). I disconnect and change the channel and my works again. I have pressed the reset button, but nothing happens. what could be done?

Haha nice. I just made this on a whim today. Thanks for the feedback, this is good info for future videos!

You went though the trouble of disassembly, why would you not show both sides of the remote PCB? 🙂

Because it would have been a perfect job, and that would have caused a reality glitch.

Thanks for this! I plan on painting the remote my favourite colour to fit my other painted electronics

My remote get spilled water over. I opened it and cleaned the PCB with tissue and 15 sec under hair dryer, works like a charms
What’s the button side of the controller look like?
Do google sell the hdmi cable of the device after it get damaged?

Same. This dude did something before or something. Mine won't budge and I'm using a screwdriver. Plastic spudger did nothing.
I wonder, does the hd and the 4k share the same hardware?
Thanks for the teardown!

This is totally possible, depending on your skill level. The hardest part is probably building the custom enclosure.
Why you can't just buy a tablet? 😮
I'm gonna need a vice and an actual crowbar to open this awful remote. It's like that scene at the end of Ghost in the Shell with that Spider Tank!
I was hoping he would point out the storage chip.

My cat ate hdmi cable, any way to get new one?
I also need just the hdmi part but I can't find it anywhere
Would you know where we can buy parts? I need the hdmi. Thank you.
I don't see anywhere online that has them yet. Sometimes eBay works well. A used or broken unit and you can use the other parts for repair.
