    We just bought a home that needed a new roof 10 years ago. I was very daunted about installing a roof because of the steep pitch and all the hood and valleys. But this metal roof playlist has been such a confidence builder for me!! Thank you so much. I will be tackling the project within the next month. I will report back when I’m all done. I’d love to send you a picture after the install

    You all should make a flashing which has a bend to facilitate that transition but maintain the ridges and valleys of the panels.

    I have an existing vertical metal shop wall. (Metal sheets run vertical) I’m going to attach a 2:12 lean to roof off the side. How do I properly flash the transition?

    I am about to start on a roof for my 5x3 ft generator shed. It is lean to roof and hinged at the back( the highest part). I purchased a metal roof panel, cut it in half, drip edge and ridge cap for the back. I'm not sure if the ridge cap is the best to do in the back trying to cover the hinged part that could be exposed to water. What would be the best solution to cover the hinge with?

      The ridge cap seems like it might work. You cold just screw it down and then remove the screws when you need access.

    On a hip cap, do you install the transition over the hip cap or under? For instance, I am installing metal on wrap around porch connected to a hip roof

      The lower part of the roof should always be under the upper part.

    I'm adding a deck onto our house and the house roof is asphalt shingles. Can i use this metal transition to go from the shingles to metal roofing?

    • @RoofingIntelligence
      @RoofingIntelligence  8 месяцев назад

      Yes, that will work. I'd install a layer of ice and water shield over the top of the roll flashing before putting the shingles back.

      You can use metal in low-pitch situations but be careful. If there are numerous penetrations, skylights, or valleys, for example, I would probably consider a different option.

    Honestly the "wrong way" he showed looked a lot better than the correct way. I don't see why you couldn't make that work by having some foam closure strips behind where the two pieces meet or hit the back side of the seam with some foam sealant to fix the leak problem. Especially on a barn shed or something that isn't a house.

    Nothing in the gap? More action less talk.

    I find this a terrible type of flashing as it leaves the end totally open relying on some type of foam rubber to block the gaps. Scribed flashing panels are vastly superior but they are impossible to find at the big box stores. The profiled foam strips you do not even mention are impossible to align decently. If you dont use them you have an open path into the building for birds and bats not to mention wind. An incomplete and defective video.

      Good point. I was wondering why the foam end strips weren't installed here? Other install videos mention them.
