I was measured recently (usually do it once a year) and the stylist suggested that I stay with my size (38B) but use a bra extender, as I don't need a different cup size, but a larger band. Good tips - especially "where what you want and think flatters you!".
Great tips, Cathy. I love the Out and About seamed bootcut pants from Talbots. They're not only slimming but very comfy.Soma has a Stunning Support balconette underwire that I am currently loving. I'm a 42DDD and it really boosts the girls up where they belong! It's currently on sale for $26.00 which is a steal of a deal.
Elomi bras and swimsuits. I’m a 36 HH best bras ever for a large chest! And pretty too!💕 Oh and Curvy Kate bras and swim suits. You buy the swim suits by your bra size. Love them!
Once again, very helpful! I agree wholeheartedly with the bra tip. I like Wacoal bras too, and have had good luck with DKNY that I get at Nordstrom Rack, when they have them. But this foundation garment really does make a difference! I do like this type of video, because you offer tips that we may not think of without the reminder, and who doesn't want to look their best?!
Excellent tips Cathy🥰 I definitely needed to be reminded about going through my bras, you’re so right about the difference a good bra makes Thanks for your wonderful videos, I enjoy them so much!!❣️
I’m glad you told us about the necklace trick. I have turtlenecks. But I don’t wear them much. I did buy some mock neck shirts. I did just buy a new longer necklace. And I’m going to start dressing monochromatic. I just got a black sweater blazer in the mail today. I’m not sure I have a black tee shirt to wear under it. But I will get one. And wear black jeans with it. I’m hoping I don’t look dead. I don’t really like to wear too much black around my face. I may have to wear a different color under the blazer and then the jeans. And I have new black leather boots.
Hi Cathy other great video I like to wear wide leg trousers and comfortable shoes and I like to wear navy and blue top thanks for sharing your video I am really enjoying them ❤xx
I'm in my 70s, bra size 48 DDD. I can buy a 46 DDD but new ones are a struggle to snap and shift cups to front. I prefer V neck and still wear jeans. However, it's hard to find high rise straight leg 18 women's "petite ". Yup, 26 inseam. Love suggestions. Thank you so much.
One thing you didn’t mention, at least not yet that I am half way through, a light, gentle shoulder pads would help balance most larger women, is shoulder pads. Just look in the mirror and see the difference when the shoulders are a little wider to balance bust and hips.
I have never had an off the rack bra that fit. I had fittings at all the fine dress shops over the years and several moves and they could not fit me. So, I went the custom made bra route. They are quite expensive. I'm retired and on a limited budget but never regretted spending $500. Now days they usually start at $1,000 on line but I found a lady in Canada that I'm working with who is charging much less. You give her the measurements then she sends a mock-up. You let her know what works and what doesn't. A lot of this can be done with Zoom calls. Bonus - you can get colorful bras and don't have to settle for beige or black!
I use scarves, but make sure they're not scratchy. Steinmart had a great assortment at great prices, but alas they're gone. The chain dept stores want to rob me for a nice scarf, but tend to avoid adventurous colors. Now I pick up my favorite scarves in small boutiques when traveling.
Bras are a problem for me, now that I'm in my 60s. I used to love the Chantal bras, back when I had a nice corporate salary and could shop in the lingerie department at Neiman Marcus. Now that I'm living primarily on my retirement income, it's not as easy to afford them. I was also in a car accident almost 6 years ago that herniated a disc in between my shoulder blades, and that's added a problem. Bras that actually support the boobage just kill my spine! My chiropractor suggested wearing those pull-over styles that have no hooks, and those are what I tend to wear these days. The lift is not as good with them, and you have to lean over and position yourself into the cups properly when you first put them on. They still hurt my spine if I have to have one on for very long. And sometimes, they can be a little difficult to get on and off, if my injured disc is acting up. But working from home, I don't have to wear a bra unless I'm going out somewhere, and I don't. Ah, for the days when I could wear the pretty Chantal bras and didn't have chronic back pain!
Hi Cathy🎉 I don’t care what I do or how many tips I follow…I DO NOT have a waist. My measurements are 40-39-43. I’m high waisted or short torso. It just all runs together and looks like a big blob. I truly am straight up and down! Plus my rib cage it kind of rounded out. I wear a 38C bra that doesn’t really fit because I’ve had 2 mastectomies. Of course I’ve had reconstruction but they’re not like the ones you’re born with. lol Any advice for me? Thanks for all’ve your help!
Hey Susan, have you tried tops with rouching under the bust or on the sides near the bust, that can help to create a waist. Also a wrap top or wrap dress. Maybe a belt up underneath the bust area. Hope that helps. Is it possible that your bra size needs to be adjusted?
Great tips.. I’m having a difficult time finding jeans I carry all my weight in my belly and back. I’m not big chested at all.. but in order to get jeans to fit my waist, they are usually so baggy in the crotch, hips and legs; I feel very frumpy.. any suggestions.. or am I just stuck with leggings forever 😮
I'm right there with you! Even the girl at Old Navy tried to convince me to return the jeans I was wearing because they were oh so wide at my hip and thigh. I can pull them out and feel like the Flying Nun! 😅 And you can move another family into the rear but...they fit my biggest part which is my waist. I did discover wide leg trousers this past summer and bought every pair of linen or a linen-blend I could find in wonderful neutrals and black. So now I'm on the hunt for some nice wide leg trousers for the winter because they just fall straight down and I promise...there is no belly!! Good luck in your hunt ladies! 😀
Underoutfitters bras with adjustable straps are great and each bra comes with a bra extender for those bloated days. Never even knew about bra extenders. I must have been living under a rock. 😅 Vanity Fair has one that I love called Beauty Back. They are so comfortable. I don't think I even own a pair of skinny jeans anymore. I never liked them.
Hi Cathy, I still enjoy your channel even though I am no longer plus size. Due to illness and injuries, I have lost 96 lbs. My question is, do you have any recommendations for a bra with A cups? I have very little breast tissue left, and most bras just don't fit well, even if the babd fits correctly. Thank you for any tips. You look great!
Hi Judy, I'm sorry to hear of your illness. I hope that you are feeling better soon! I suggest if you can get a bra fitting the ladies that do that every day would be able to help you to choose the best bra for you. I appreciate you still watching my channel! 💖
I wear a 46DDD and have a hard time finding bras that are front open and no underwire right noe I have been wearin camisol tops with built in bras that have spaghetti straps. I wear alot of red
Oh so true about high necks. Very unflattering on older women, especially if you’re e been blessed in the bust area. V neck is most flattering. Pleas pass this on to manufacturers!
As I've gotten older one style "rule" I'm questioning is the belief that the ideal shape is the hour glass. That follows my recognization that there are many plus sized shapes. I'm an apple even though my boobs are my largest measurement. That forces me into oversized tops because manufacturers only recognize one shape. A belt adds fullness at my slimest point - hips. That instantly adds 30lbs. I see a lot of women like me in crowds. Id rather see women embrace their shape vs trying to be something else. For me a sheath dress thats narrow at the hips is more attractive than belting that adds fullness where I have nothing. The straight line makes me look taller (look for the longest line). Belly's are normal. And 5'4" is not short. Its average. Most clothes are cut for 5'4".
This was a great video. I hate to bother you but I was just watching Serena's video about the early black Friday sale at Nordstrom and she was showing a Spanx top with a Johnny Collar. Of course it looked amazing on her but alas...I haven't been tiny little thing in 35 years! So I jumped on to LTK to see if you had this shirt and it wasn't there. So...just wondering if you have tried it on and decided us plus size girls should steer clear?? Answer if you have time but I know life can get in the way. 😊
Hi, yes I have that top in an off white color and love it. If you Google my Spanx Travel video you can see it on me. I also have a discount code if you click on my link and use OVER50XSPANX you will save 20%. Here’s the link: rstyle.me/+Iv8MhpYpF-tL0sLDmhxIUQ
Cathy, I’m telling you this because I care, and I want to give you the honest advice no one else seems to. First off, I’m so glad you finally tried bootcut jeans-they really suit you! They help create a more balanced, shapely silhouette, which works perfectly for apple body types like ours. Skinny jeans, on the other hand, can make us look disproportionate, like cotton candy on a stick-definitely not flattering. It’s also crucial to avoid letting our bellies show. It can draw attention to the midsection in a way that’s unflattering, making us look more like Humpty Dumpty than we’d like to admit. Another style trap to avoid is wide-leg pants. While they might seem comfortable, they can make us appear boxy and rectangular, taking away any definition from our figure. I’m sharing this because I want you to look and feel your best. Style can be empowering when it’s done right!
I use to feel that way about wide leg pants until I found some that I happen to like. Wearing wide leg pants creates an hourglass silhouette because they create a waist when the shoulders and ankles are in alignment. I happen to like tapered pants. Each to their own, as I always say wear what makes you feel comfortable. I’m having fun experimenting with new styles. 😊
Cathy, as apple body types, we naturally lack a defined waistline, which is why we’re referred to as “apple-shaped.” This means that our weight tends to concentrate around the midsection, and we don’t have the curves typically associated with an hourglass figure. To clarify, an hourglass figure is characterized by a balanced distribution of weight between the bust and hips, with a clearly defined and narrower waist in between. It creates a curvy silhouette where the waist is noticeably smaller in proportion to the chest and hips. Sadly, we don’t have this. And so we look like refrigerators when we wear wide-leg pants because we don’t have a defined waistline therefore we look like a big rectangular fridge. Additionally, as apple body types, one important rule: avoid tucking in your tops if you have a prominent midsection (big belly)..Here’s why: When you tuck in your top, it emphasizes the midsection, drawing attention directly to your big belly. This can make it appear larger and disrupt the flow of your overall silhouette. Instead of creating a flattering shape, tucking in can make the torso look bulkier, which is something we want to avoid. Again, we don’t want to look like Humpty Dumpty. Another thing to be mindful of when choosing outfits is avoiding camel toe, which happens when pants, leggings, or shorts fit too tightly around the crotch area. It’s something we should try to prevent because it can draw unwanted attention and look unflattering or awkward. Therefore, we have to avoid tucking in our tops or we have to wear long tops, enough to cover the camel toe. Because, most of the toime, if we are chunky, we are chunly everywhere, inlcuding down there. Another important point to consider is that skinny or tapered jeans are not flattering for short, chubby body types. Here’s why: these styles tend to accentuate the width of the hips and thighs while making the legs look shorter and stockier. For petite individuals who are on the heavier side, this can create an unbalanced, compressed look. On the other hand, if you’re tall or have long legs, even if you’re on the heavier side, skinny jeans can work because the longer leg length naturally balances out the proportions. For us, Bootcut or straight-leg jeans are more suitable. These create a more balanced silhouette by adding width at the hem, which elongates the legs and draws attention away from the midsection. Cathy, I hope you don’t mind me saying this-it’s important to get things right, especially as someone with your influence. As an influencer with a large following, the advice and styling tips you share should be accurate and suited to us apply body types. Your audience looks to you for guidance, and your words have an impact. Dressing well for different body types isn’t about judgment-it’s about helping others look and feel their best. With your platform, you’re in a great position to inspire confidence, and it’s important that the tips you share reflect that.

Like your hair style
Thanks!
I’m watching this while wearing my Levi’s skinny jeans. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Glad I’m not the only skinny jeans fan!
I love them too. I’m not plus sized but I have a very large bust-that’s hard to find flattering styles too
I love skinny jeans and leggings!!
Very few women with shapely or full figures are flattered by leggings and skinny jeans
@ 🤪 I’m a fan of skinny jeans anyhow!
Thanks for the tips! You look beautiful in that red sweater!
Oh thank you!
Great tips, Cathy. I love the Out and About seamed bootcut pants from Talbots. They're not only slimming but very comfy.Soma has a Stunning Support balconette underwire that I am currently loving. Elomi bras and swimsuits. I’m a 36 HH best bras ever for a large chest! And pretty too!💕 Oh and Curvy Kate bras and swim suits. You buy the swim suits by your bra size. Love them!

Outstanding video
Thank you for sharing your tips! Always things that I try to keep in mind as I shop or choose outfits for myself!
I like the red v neck. Hair looks nice.
I always enjoy your thoughtful videos, thanks Cathy.
Thank you so much!
You look fantastic in Red! I also love the green shirt you showed. Great color on you. ❤
I really like the Wacoal brand also. Have at least a half dozen, all different colors.
Love that red!
Thanks Cathy, great tips. Have a wonderful day. 🙏😊🌲
Thank you! You too!
That's such a great tip! I never thought of wearing a long necklace with the mock neck. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Once again your tips are VERY helpful! I've adopted some of your suggestions in the past and THEY WORK. Thank you.
Love your channel. You’re so refreshing 😊
Thank you so much!
Excellent tips Cathy🥰
I definitely needed to be reminded about
going through my bras, you’re so right about the difference a good bra makes
Thanks for your wonderful videos, I enjoy them so much!!❣️
Glad it was helpful!
Cathy.....thx for telling about the LTK app......I needed new things
I also like the skinny jeans and the slim ankle jeans from Talbots. I don’t care for boot cuts or wide legs on me. Thanks for the video.
I have not tried Talbots jeans, glad to hear that you like them.
I’m glad you told us about the necklace trick. I have turtlenecks. But I don’t wear them much. I did buy some mock neck shirts. I did just buy a new longer necklace. And I have new black leather boots.
If you wanted to wear all black, I would suggest wearing a pop of blush or lipstick to bring some colour to your face. I do that. 😊
I do think boot cut and wide leg. Pants are much more flattering in general. Makes you figure looking more proportionate I think.
I don’t know if it’s your make-up or the red top but they make your blue eyes pop!!!
Hi Cathy, Happy Thursday!! I love ur outfit. I am enjoying watching u on RUclips. Take Care & I Love u. 💋Jeffery Wormley 💋
New video, yeah.
Hi Cathy other great video I like to wear wide leg trousers and comfortable shoes and I like to wear navy and blue top thanks for sharing your video I am really enjoying them ❤xx
So true. The right bra is everything. 😊
Check out NYDJ jeans. I like their Marilyn straight leg and I do think that they are available in petite.
People wear what is comfortable no matter what size you are.
I think you look great in that green blouse and black pants, very slimming 👍👍
Quicker factory on QVC has elastic waist jeans, great.

I really like a V-neck, but during winter I hate being cold, what can I do? Thanks!
Wear a scarf!
You could use the necklace idea to create a V-neck like I suggested. I do that sometimes when wearing a crewneck.
Brought a newbra yesterday anditwas fitted. Am no longer a 44 FF am a 38 H, 2 years since that bra was brought, last year was a 42 G.

Wear a long chain necklace with mock neck to divide the chest ❤❤❤
Gosh, Cathy, your weight loss is really showing! And you look great! Good deal!!!
Thank you!
Great tips.. I’m having a difficult time finding jeans I carry all my weight in my belly and back. I have a size 12-14 waist, but I need a size 10 pants for my skinny legs! It's hard to find pants!
I'm right there with you! Even the girl at Old Navy tried to convince me to return the jeans I was wearing because they were oh so wide at my hip and thigh. I have found the brands Democracy, Ruby Road and Slimnation have some great jean choices. They are pull on but trimmed to look like they’re not.
@@AEO123Are they in any stores or just online
@ I have bought them in stores so I never looked into online-sorry!
Underoutfitters bras with adjustable straps are great and each bra comes with a bra extender for those bloated days. Never even knew about bra extenders. Where can I find the med blue w/ silver buckle outfit you showed a picture of! I didn’t see it in the list.
You look nice in the bootcut jeans
Thanks!
Lane Bryant or Jessica London Balconette bras keeps the girls (I’m a 38G) where they are supposed to be and gives me a defined waist.

Pepper and 3rd love both sell smaller cup size. I have a larger band size but smaller cup.
I wear a 46DDD and have a hard time finding bras that are front open and no underwire right noe I have been wearin camisol tops with built in bras that have spaghetti straps. I wear alot of red
Vanity fair makes a good front closure bra that comes in DD AND DDD
Oh so true about high necks. Very unflattering on older women, especially if you’re e been blessed in the bust area. V neck is most flattering. Pleas pass this on to manufacturers!
If I wear a v-neck, then it definitely brings eyes to my cleavage.😂 I lean toward boatneck or high neck tops for work.

Can you do a how to style video on black satin cargo pants please
I don’t own any cargo pants, but my Athleta joggers are a bit similar. If you look at my recent videos they might give you some ideas.
Ty Cathy

Additionally, as apple body types, one important rule: avoid tucking in your tops if you have a prominent midsection (big belly)..Here’s why:
When you tuck in your top, it emphasizes the midsection, drawing attention directly to your big belly.
