I just bought the Ryobi Heat Pen after watching your review. I have a corded Genesis Heat Pen & Heat Gun which work perfectly and highly recommend for workbench projects where there is a 120V outlet near by 😉 The cordless heat pen though will work perfectly when making wiring repairs on our equipment especially when using marine heat shrink connectors. I've tried using standard insulated connectors with dielectric grease and that works well for about 4-5 years before the oxidation creeps into the wires and starts causing issues. This will be a huge time saver not having to run extension cord to do the job correctly 😊 Also picked up the Ryobi soldering station which should come in handy too. By the way, Ryobi makes a Glue Gun too.
I have a corded "heat pen".. works well for small things..glue guns are getting popular with all the PDR that's transpired over the last couple of years good to see Ridgid getting in on the action
I bought the Ryobi heat gun when it first came out with the sole intention of using it for heat shrink tubing but I was never happy with the performance so I stopped using it. This new heat pen looks like it would work better for heat shrink because it is concentrating the heat down to a smaller spot. I could have used this for heat shrink yesterday when the wind kept blowing out my butane lighter.
Wish Ryobi would make a heat pen in it's USB Lithium lineup. Now that they have a 3mAh battery, it should be useful enough for small projects. It would pair well with their soldering pen that I love.
I'm wondering if in a pinch could one use this to heat up an area just to stay warm. That high temperature and maybe a fan to circulate the heat could it be used to warm a small area as to stay warm? Thanks for the video. Very informative
A 2ah battery is only going to give you about 5 minutes of heat. It’s also too small to heat a room. It’s like asking if a bic lighter could heat up room.
Neat little heat pen. I think I'd consider it as a portable alternative to a full-size, corded heat gun - pen for fast or space-restricted repairs, and the gun for building a full harness (as well as paint or whatever else). I really like the temperature range on the Rigid - with that in mind, Ryobi's most recent "dual temp" glue gun looks extremely unimpressive in comparison, unfortunately (I think the temps are about 200°F and 240°F? Hardly a proper "dual temp" gun - it would be far better at 240°F and 400°F). Not sure I want to have to purchase yet another battery family for a single tool like this, so might just suffer the Ryobi for low temp work, which admittedly would be the majority of my needs, I think. Still have to pull out the corded gun for high temp, I guess.
Wowowowo i didn't know that orange plastic was so expensive to produce..... They can keep that one for themselves.... The heat gun looks interesting though..

That Ridgid is the mast feature packed glue gun ive ever seen. Nice job Ridgid.

New tools, useful tools. Thank you!
Very cool been waiting to see the new Ridgid glue gun thanks for sharing

Ouch, $100 for the heat pen, though (with 2.0Ah battery and a charger). Hopefully they'll offer it as tool-only sooner than later.
If you don't mind, what brand heat shrink and non-heat shrink connector did you use in the video? Thanks
this heat pen would be perfect for guys who makes kydex holsters
Can you redo the Ryobi high torque impact with the 12 amp hour???

Is calling a glue gun a heat gun a common thing? Maybe southern? Never heard that before. Awesome video as always!
Potential mistake in my eyes.
Ryobi content starts at 7:40
Why do you keep calling a glue gun a heat gun?
I bet the ratchet cannot insert to the glue gun
