- It's been 7 years since I discovered Town of Salem and it occurred to me that I never looked into the lore behind the game. Decided to make an audio-book style video, enjoy!

The image of the mighty Juggernaut, training his strength everyday for ten years, ripping the Godfathers arms clean off his body, only for him to get overpowered by the jailor and executed is so funny.

It was funny listening to the lore from old game mechanics of people like the spy, disguiser, and the such. Ah the old days of knowing who the disguiser is instantly.
Based on this comment, would it be safe to assume that spy changed a lot over time?
@@uncreativeusername-sl9qf Spy used to have powers like a Blackmailer/VH: Could read all whispers and mafia chat. You'd often see people verify spies by whispering someone and asking the spy to repeat it
In the video it mentions how the spy could read mafia chat and whispers. That is not a thing it does anymore.

I always found it wierd that Arsonist wasn't based off of hanging other people in the town, given the whole 'burn the Witch' thing that was going on at the Witch hunts
in the future, I would use "what is your role in this whole damn mess ?" when i am the Jailor
I find the crusader figuring out he can shoot first so funny like “oh yeah I can just not die 😃”
I was not expecting the lore to be so brutal. The juggernaut was so brutal, holy shit!

I've already read a lot of the ToS lore but everytime I revisit it, I always am shocked about how good it is.
dang. the ambusher story is probably my favourite. i always enjoyed going onto the amb wiki page and reading it.
We are finally going to find out why there are still crusaders in ToS when the last crusade was centuries ago and only in the old world
If I remember correctly lore was made by the community a long time ago so I don't know if we can take things seriously like how retributionist lost his ability to revive and his lore seems misplaced.
But I still think it is funny to theorize some things based in the lore lol, like how the hell investigator reaches some conclusions with in his results (he is a terrible investigator).
i'd like to imagine the crusader killded the doctor and after it was revealed he was like: "skill issue ngl ima do it again" (hence no kill penalty)
I want to see a group of people try to play the game as lore-accurate as possible without worrying about winning just to see what would happen.
Its kinda crazy to think a lot of evil roles aren't actually evil at all.
I wanna know why the doc doesn't go on the Mayor. Does he just hate the guy that much he's willing to let the town die just so the Mayor dies? Harsh
According to lore, the Mayor basically shut down Doc's business for witchcraft (which is not). And when the Mafia came in, the doc offers to heal townies other than the Mayor.
Even the doctor's corpse refuses to heal him

- Even if he's tricked into visiting Mayor by Transporter, he doesn't heal him.
- Even when controlled into visiting Mayor, his sheer hate doesn't allow Doc to heal Mayor
- Even beyond over his dead body wouldn't heal the Mayor.

Medium was getting pushed around. After her entry she was killed (probably by sk) which devasted her child and then was framed by the framer right after 💀

I call BS. The Doctor can save the target from being obliterated by the Pestilence but can't save a charred corpse?
Btw, you can tell that the night immunity mechanic was a later addition to the game since the lore involves those with Basic attack killing those with at least Basic defense in the night.
To be fair, there's a cure to most things (or at least something that delays the symptome death) but you can't really heal 4th degree burns, especially if the whole person was engulfed to flames and only stopped burning due to there not being any material to oxidize left
Well of course, pestilence is disease, and a doctor does really well against diseases

The Arsonist seems accurate, especially with the "stupid town."
Apparently the wiki had wrong/reconned information. I remember reading that the coven leader wasn't the witch, that she was a cute girl that tended to get what she wanted, and later learned she was using magic.

The retri and disguiser really needs an update due to the game play changes.
The old stories just don't make sense for how their abilities work now.

I have played tos for 2 years and i have wondered how to buff hypnotist and was always making either mafia's witch ver. or other existing role, but letting hypnotist to frame others would sound so evil and so fun at same time ( not like framer does)
I love how they acknowledge that the Mafia shouldn’t be there by having the witch time travel to bring them there
I can finally see why poisoner refuses to poison two people in the same night

thanks so much for this video! you really brought me back to playing this game in 2016 and reading the stories that would cycle on the home page. i used to love to read these so much!! also reminds me of the old retributionist ability, also spy and disguiser. i remember the necromancer one struck me when the role came out lol. love the nostalgia trip!

No wonder Pirates are roleblock immune. They know how to handle a wench.
Unfortunately it's not.
There's probably small bits in there from the official lore, but 99.99% of this is fan-made lore from the wiki.

it usually starts breaking apart when you have role stories interfacing with each other. like doctor/SK/PB lines up pretty well, but consig/invest/mayor/jailor, i think it is, doesn't
it would be nice to see what other lore BMG's got floating around that never got published to their website, but iirc it's largely not in a publishable state so we'll likely never see it. :(

As a guy who has never played Town of Salem, I don't understand if Juggernaut is good or bad in the lore because he killed the hero and the leader of the Mafia. I don't know if this is correct or not but I supposingly remember from a video that Juggernaut was good.
Juggernaut is a neutral killing role. They don't side with anyone except for neutrals and must obliterate anyone that stands in their way
It's a neutral role. Neutral evil. They want to kill both the town and the mafia.
