I feel like the pure craftsmanship and Sony’s dedication to showcasing a single tech they developed, which in this case was their supertweeter dd, makes these worth the price.
I sold my old IER Z1R only to buy it again today. This one has smother treble and a bit more meat in the upper mids than I remember. Not sure did Sony alter the tuning a bit. It also says the unit was manufactured in 2024 maybe they altered the tuning
I am very late to the Z1R party since I just got mine June 2024. Of the fit is not an issue, I think it is best IEM, as simple as that, at any pricepoint. You are right that others surpass it in a certain single aspects, eg resolution, soundstage etc.. but then, they lack in others especially if you include build quality. I imagine that even by stepping on the Sony, it might survive. No acrylic shell will. I am mightily impressed by the balanced package which brings all together.
The Prestige LTD is truly endgame. The best Thieaudio yet. The Monarchs are good if you like more low end. But if you want an endgame allrounder that just plays everything amazingly. The Prestige LTD is hard to beat. It has slam, amazing clarity, amazing imaging, layering and soundstaging while being smooth and non fatiguing. Truly amazing. Compared to the Z1R, the LTD is smoother and sounds more cohesive. Less bass slam but cleaner low end.
I’ve always wanted to try these, especially now considering your high praise for the imaging/soundstage. However, I’ve sort of settled on the Dunu Zen Pro with EQ for now, as it sounds incredibly resolving in the bass and mids, and I’ve equalized it have a similar tonal balance to my reference open back headphone, the Clear MG with Utopia pads. I agree with you it’s not impossible to compare IEMs to open backs, in fact IEMs can do some things better than open backs.
I have the IER Z1R but after trying the Hype 4 I found i liked it better no EQ whatever but with the IER Z1R I have to EQ the upper treble and the upper mids
@@amplifyaudioreviews well, the Sony what’s my ceiling, ($1,700) preferred ($700) anywhere in between. (I’m coming from the B&W P7 btw.) (very musical full headphones)
Oo did he say that, very curious why since I thought it was his favorite! I'm very curious for a comparison between the fir models (and brieflyhow rn6 compares)
@@amplifyaudioreviews I think I will go with the Trio because I'm worried about Z1R's fit (and don't have anywhere in my country to try it first). Do you find the bass on both to be on the same level ? What about the soundstage (you (and many other reviewers) mentioned that the stage on the Z1R is really big) does the Trio have the same large stage as the Z1R ?
@@omoveja8185keep in mind pretty much everyone loves z1r. I mean people with completely different tastes and listen to completely different genres from hip hop to classical and everything in between. Not everyone loves trio. In fact trio rarely talked about anymore

Bro please do the trifecta!!!!! So I went to can jam heard a shit load and there was something about it I couldn’t get over that sounded like bigger or something.everyone was telling I was bugging Lolol .but there’s not much in depth reviews on it on youtube.I am stoked .I own u 12 t ,maestro mini and variation’s perhaps u can compare them with it live your review la bro❤❤❤❤
Best I can do is 🌳fiddy. In all seriousness, I am always rooting for Sony, I have a pair of MH755 and all I want is that sound with a better cable and better resolution. But Sony refuses to make an iem that we all know they are capable of. Very frustrating company. I want to love their TVs, smartphones, and headphones but they always seem to be outdone by competitors.

They dont
Got these because of Crinacle lol... They've had amazing staying power to be fair, still the most discussed IEM on head-fi if im not mistaken.
True
Yes. They're amazing and still selling fod for the same price. No deals
@@Usernotknown21 price has gone down from $2000 to $1700 since release but yeah I have never seen them on sale.

Should sell for fairly low price, for how old it is. Is PRESTIGE or Monarch MkII/III better sounding? Or Penon Impact? Sony M7?
Better. One of the best

How about Empire Odin?

Can you also review sony mdr z1r headphones?
Two pairs are enough..For me one studio style tunne and another bass warm..for genres you want to feel bsss
did you have a chance to use the Z1R with the DMP-Z1 before you sold them ?
Ok, so now where do I look for analog-warm IEM's? (with goog bass) BTW the campfire Trifecta is $3,000+
What is your budget

Do they sound okay with bad recordings?
Between this and the Tia Trio for rock/metal, which one do you find it better ?
Tia Trio is more source picky. I probably would take this if I wasn't indexing for resolution. If I was, I'd take the Trio.

You should just get yourself a Sennhesier MKH 50 mic to go above your shot, and you'll be set. No plosives and great tone with your specific voice.

So obviously you compare the tonality to the 12 66 but does it have as good resolution?
Nope
still best treble and bass in an iem
Not quite. They sound identic to the much cheaper Sony XBA-H3 and I own them both.
@@robicelus nah the bass is less controlled on the H3. Bleeding into mids
@ to me they do sound quite similar especially when it comes to the treble. Our hearing is different

Trade u a hifiman arya v2 for them
You're going to regret selling it sooner or later. Trust me😢

its enough for me, with proper setup
