Fast forward and I'm in my late 30s, i found out only this year that my best friend was m0lested by her paternal uncle from aged 8 to 11. She only opened up to her younger sister about this recently and found out that she too was being abused around the same time from the age of 7-10. By the same Uncle. I was touched inappropriately at tutoring when I was 5 by an older person that the teacher asked to help me. I cant remember if it happened more than once, however I told my mom who told me to tell the teacher. I did that, she slapped that person in face and removed that person from tuition. I found out like 12 years later the teacher didn't tell his mother why she removed him. Other than that I wasn't too terribly affected because the right steps were taken swiftly, no joke I completely forgot for 10 years about it.

It doesn’t just happen to females, young boys have also been victimised by these depraved men. The answer to unchecked male perversion isn’t to direct immediate attention toward women but to ask what leads these men to commit such vile acts and ensure disciplinary measures are enacted at a very young age to prevent them from even entertaining such evil. This predator had a very disturbing attitude as a religious leader. A lot of Dawah men are very loud spoken, excessively laugh and joke, while freely speaking to women, particularly non Muslim women as though they are entitled to free mix under the guise of religious teaching. This opens the door to much fitnah and you end up with vultures like this vile individual.

Looking at her images it’s clear she is a disturbed individual who as one Shaykh put it, looks like a crack head. The question is how does she have a Muslim surname? She will have been in a relationship with a “Muslim” man. Another problem that conveniently gets overlooked in the community. How are these men from muslim families coming across these women? There are countless cases of haram relationships “Muslim” men are in that are brushed under the carpet. This woman wasn’t a normal woman or mother, I doubt she even was a Muslim but Allah Knows best. The point is Islam is being abused by these type of men by manipulating verses of the Quran and Hadith to fulfil personal sick pleasures. More needs to be done when it comes to raising boys and the unchecked freedoms they entitle themselves to. And women need to be more discerning rather than blind following of men who claim to be of religious authority.

I read through these comments and a lot of people keep mentioning the separation of genders. While I agree that that is 100% a valid point and that Allah has implemented these restrictions and rules for our safety, no one seems to be wanting to address the fact that this type of abuse is not only perpetrated by men towards women or young girls. This is a disgusting, egregious vile behavior that is perpetrated by both men and women towards both genders. Men have abused other males and women have abused both males and females. I know several people who have been abused in this manner at the hands of someone of the same gender. No child should be left alone with a single person, period. Parents need to be much more diligent and protective of their children. As a mother of four, I would never leave my kids alone with anybody. Ever. It doesn’t matter if it’s a female. That’s not gonna happen. I would never send my girls to a female teacher because that would make them safe. I would never send my boys to a male teacher because that would make them safe. No one gets access to my children by themselves. Either myself or my husband have to be there, but no one is accessing my children alone. That includes family, teachers, religious leaders, nobody. Speaking of someone who has endured that type of abuse, once that damage is done, it can never be undone. I 100% agree that I would rather be overly paranoid when it comes to the safety of my children then risk something like that happening. The level of trauma that type of abuse causes can truly break somebody.

Thanks for addressing these topics, I never see anyone address them in this manner since our societies are all built on the culture of blaming the victim instead of the abuser, I have been SA by a family member, and a stranger on the street and in both cases when I spoke up I was banned from stuff like going to the souq with my mum where the stranger abused me, and with the case of the family member she played the victim and that she was young back then and no body questioned her, but I was interrogated and reprimanded since "it happened a long time ago you shouldn't have shared it now she's the only one now affected by it", well no she is not, after stopping the SA after almost being caught she continued abusing me in a different way mentally tortured me and by hitting me which is something I didn't realise was because she was scared I would remember and tell, these scares are still impeded in my mind and none of them are going away, and she is the victim when I exposed her?
This is what culture would do to victims and this kind of culture needs to be gone, relatives, family friends and society won't be your witness on judgement day, your actions are, so we have to stop caring about what people think and what is comfortable and fix this ASAP, or more Muslims are going to diverge from Deen because of things that has nothing woth Islam teachings, all your ideas are gems I really hope an organisation works with you permanently to achieve this, I actually had this same thought about why there's no integration of our islamic teachings and aspect in any of the mental help institutions I payed to get treated with, keep the good work and I hope you addressing this would get the recognition it deserves 💐

My faith is at its weakest, but I am the happiest I've been in forever-a bittersweet feeling.
When I was younger, if I were on fire, my parents and other adult family members would stop and pray rather than grab a fire extinguisher. Islamic teachings were used to gaslight me,
It tore me apart. Now, I'm stitching my soul back together through psychology and self-therapy.
I believe many Muslims, in their journey of submission to Allah, have forgotten what He has given them. The disregard for human intellect is baffling; it seems we decided hundreds of years ago to stop learning. Islamic knowledge has become quantifiable, and anything newly discovered is labelled innovation, hypocrisy, blasphemy, or reformism. Ironically, even what we now call the most authentic forms of Islam were once under even worse scrutiny.
I hope you succeed in your ambitions. You’re the only person I’ve seen who combines trauma science with Islam. Although your content is aimed primarily at women, it has helped me a lot in regaining trust in religion.

I think there’s an elephant in the room that needs to be addressed . Not talking about SA here at all which should get zero tolerance from the whole community , but what we are facing is a generation gap here . Society right now consists of parents who were brought up back home with different sets of norms & rules & kids growing up in the west whose standards of tolerance towards advice or even in being reprimanded by parents & elders is different. So much of what we Asian parents consider normal parenting is considered mental abuse by kids here .
There is a disconnect that needs to be addressed and just hammering away the point that something is abuse because it’s defined as such by a western society is not going to convince a parent who has seen the success of Asian parenting by their own parents .
Everyone is learning as we go and maybe more talks addressing this would help, InshaAllah .

A major issue today is the influence of freemixing and the spread of liberal ideologies within Western interpretations of Islam. Institutions like Al-Maghrib and figures such as YQ and OS have been called out for promoting a more liberal version of Islam, and now we see them making public statements like, "We never allow ourselves to be alone with women," as if to distance themselves from their previous stance. This shift highlights why traditional madrassa settings are so strict about interactions between males and females. They typically enforce complete separation, or in some cases, they avoid such mixed settings altogether. While it’s true that incidents of abuse, including pedophilia, have occurred in madrassas, it’s important to note that such issues are not unique to Islamic institutions. Abuse can happen in any sector-corporate, educational, or otherwise. The key is to ensure proper safeguards and accountability, not to dismiss or overlook the larger problem.

In Islam, free mixing of genders is discouraged to uphold modesty and prevent immorality. Unfortunately, many Western Islamic institutes seem to overlook this limit. We often see male and female scholars sitting face-to-face, laughing and engaging casually under the banner of Islamic discussions.
