    Awesome video, I'm gonna work on some of these defensive qualities the next time I hoop. I notcice he does split steps when defending shots, like tennis. Some of his defensive footwork reminds me of Frankie Edgar's boxing footwork too.

  • @Mitch_Feral
    @Mitch_Feral 3 месяца назад

    Great video. I think his footwork is the thing that players should study - there's a lot of stuff he does that simply isnt possible without being on his base, and he's basically never off-balance. He's a premier athlete, for sure, but what he does with his hips and his ankles, over the course of any defensive stretch, is unlike anyone in the league. And I think there's a lot to be said for the psychological impact of having to go against a guy who you know is coming for the ball, is very good at getting to it, and who will beat you to the floor if something goes wrong.
    If Smart passed two of every five 3's he took, he'd be All-NBA every single year. His shot selection is the only real flaw in his game.

    • @pplRretards
      @pplRretards 2 года назад

      They don't really have much weaknesses or weak links defensively imo their guys 1-8 are all pretty good defenders in Smart, Brown, Tatum, Horford and Rob Williams as a starting 5 then White, Grant Williams and Theis off the bench even Pritchard although undersized height he's becoming more and more a dawg like Smart defensively. He will never have Smarts length and Size but you can't knock the effort and hustle he plays with always fighting and diving for loose balls, hustling on any rebounds getting tips and extra hustle will afford him a long career as a back up PG in the NBA and dam can he shoot lol my point tho is that the Celtics defense is pretty special and rare definitely in today's nba. Personally it's something amazing to watch and there hasn't been a defense team so solid all around this since the 04 Pistons and honestly I think they might even be better then the 04 Pistons. Of course Big Ben Wallace is in a class of his own and no one on the Celtics can match him defensively but Smart is by far a better defender then Billups imo which is saying something as Billups was a great defender but Rip Hamilton wasn't a good defender where as Jaylen Brown is pretty good defender, Tayshuan Orince made a living as a defender in the NBA and although never put up major stats in steals and blocks he made his presence known on the defensive end and Tatum might be known for his ability on the other side of the ball but this year his effort defensively has raised tenfold. Not just that though he is a very underrated defender with the ability to defend 1 thru 5 as I've seen him go one on one with Trae Young and one on one with Karl Anthony Towns getting the better of both them defensively! Horford is OK retty equal to Rasheed imo Rasheed may have been more physical and more dawg in him but Horford by far has more versatility defensively the Sheed then Timelird Rob Williams like I said no-one can do what Big Ben was able to do but Rob definitely is definitely a top 5 to top 3 defender in the NBA today with this being his first year as starting player and having significant playing times and role. Rob Williams with out a doubt has so much potential that's untapped still! Just saying is that Boston might not have a guy like ben wallacr however the Celtics dont have the weaker lsink and in has had improvements all around with mor e depth then that 94 Pistons tea
