    I have the new Dolce Vita Original with steel nib. I also have a pre closing Dolce Vita mid size with a gold nib… same as the re release. The quality of the new pen is as good or better. Made with the same specs as far as i can tell. The casting on the silver cap band is identical. Thanks for the review.

      I have an original Dolce Vita from about 2015... And honestly the quality of the nib is pretty horrible. No matter what I do to that nib I can't get it to write reliably. So I've been thinking about the new ones with the steel nibs. It's good to know that they have equal build quality. It's still one of the best pens ever made in my opinion. I just wish that they would start releasing them with the #8 nibs.

    Top-notch sheets are a necessity when wet broads are involved.
    I am of course, referring to pens and paper.
    In all seriousness, though, almost all of my fountain pens have broad nibs and are tuned to be wet writers. My idea of a medium is using a Japanese instead of European pen. I particularly enjoy feeling the different characteristics of inks; how they effect paper feedback through the nib, coefficient of friction, etc. As much as fountain pens are a focus, they are really just vehicles into the landscape of paper and ink.
    I absolutely adore infinite regalia paper, the fine gesso-like finish is magnificent. It does magical things for ink.
    Love your channel man.

    Nice review Doodlebud. I am going to order one now. In b/w was lucky to get my hands on the latest Delta DV 2 Premiere. Fantastic pen with right girth and weight. More than that I am happy theybhave continued with the same orange and black colour. That combination has become synonymous with Delta.I hope Delta continues the good work. • @nibnoob
    @nibnoob Год назад +2

    The quick aside about the different papers is so interesting. It's also such a complicated topic to try to address. I have been trying to keep a bit of a catalogue in my head of how my different pens, inks and papers work together. It's hard enough to keep that information straight with only the stuff I have here at home! I can't imagine trying to do a comprehensive review of these kinds of combinations that are relevant to many more people... But it's so fascinating, because though I find I have the same experience with Rhodia that you show here with the RB Whiskey ink, I find that certain inks actually have sharper edges on my Rhodia paper! For all its complexities, it is satisfying though when you find just the right combination and you know you can go back to it whenever you feel like it and get a great experience and a great result from a paper/nib/ink combo!

    I was fleetingly excited about Delta’s comeback. But whatever enthusiasm I felt quickly evaporated when I learned the pens would come fitted with Jowo nibs. What an instant kill-joy!
    This new model looks nice and appealing enough. But I’m sure I’m not buying any new Delta pen because I’m not the slightest interested in Jowo nibs anymore.
    I know I still prefer the look, design, aesthetics of my older Delta pens. And they are fitted with Bock nibs which I’ve always preferred to Jowo. How I wish Delta could conjure a way of making their own nibs today.

    There were 3 co-founders of Delta: After the ceased production in 2015ish, Marino went on to create Maiora, and bought Nettuno; Matrone's son create Leonardo. As far as I know there are 2 more pens out of the Naples region; Goia, and the fantastic Marlen pens.
    I would be more excited if Delta went back to Bock rather than Jowo. I am sure that in time, once they have re-established themselves, Delta will either go back to Bock or create their own nibs. Also not so enamored by the laser engraving on the nibs, as opposed to stamping. These are the little finishing things that I appreciate. Delta had one of THE best finishing and the cap band was so intricate.
    It'll be interesting to see what Maiora does now. Will they be the lower end brand, or will they compete against Delta?
    I'm just glad I have a couple of those older Deltas.
    EDIT: Yeah that engraving on the cap - not a fan. If this is what revivals are going to be, all I can do is shake my head.

      @@Doodlebud The 39+1? Yeah, it better be for that price. But therein lies the problem. I don't believe the old Delta distinguished their finishing on the more expensive models. The older cheaper Deltas had a steel nib, less intricate work, but finished the product well. If you want to create a cheaper pen, don't skimp out on that kind of stuff, or just don't engrave the barrel. Do it right, or don't do it. It's really tarnishing the image of what people knew of the old Delta.

I realize this is a moderately priced pen, but shape alone is not going to persuade me to like it. There are quite a few good custom pen makers for acrylic pens here in the U.S., and they can offer a better looking pen in the same or slightly higher price range. No downside to the screw in converter. If you strip it out then you are left with a standard international that's friction fit. There's literally no downside.

    • @EVILLASER
      @EVILLASER Год назад

      It’s a minor issue in the grand scheme of things, but a screw-in converter makes using converters with adapter housings for things like Pilot nibs very difficult if not impossible without significant modification. Again, a niche use case, but I find myself in this exact position now and wanted to share!

    • @Doodlebud
      @Doodlebud  Год назад

      The friction fit will be a tad loose if you sub in a regular international converter. Some of the international ones also have a metal band around the bottom so sometimes won't fit depending upon the height of the threaded part that takes the screw in converter. So if the threads do strip out there are specific international converters you have to use. This pen has a full resin section so shouldn't wear out the threads on the converter.
