Hey Andrew, unrelated note to the video, but I recently got into Caltech for my undergrad where I plan on doing physics, which has been my dream school to attend (plus Feynman and all). I just wanted to thank you for really first igniting my interest in physics (whereas I was on track to do econs or law or something before), and genuinely I think without your insights into the world of studying physics I never would have been driven enough to reach where I am now.
Just wanted to reach out and say that I’ve been watching your videos since senior year of hs, and now I’m about to start a physics Ph.D. program this Fall! I hated physics in high school, but your videos in particular really helped me to fall in love with it. Thanks for all the great content, Andrew!
I'm a dual physics/electrical engineering major ... Not one of my physics pals brings you up ... but a lot of my engineering pals do .. .. you got that going for you!
I've been here wayy too often. My poor SO has to wait for me to complete my thoughts before I am even able to comprehend her. Sometimes that wait takes minutes and she always has to repeat herself, but I try to keep it as quick as possible I've heard some software engineers refer to it as "emptying the stack" 😂
So relatable. Not a physicist, but I read a lot of physics (gonna study to become a physicist). Whenever I've read something that I'm not 100 % sure about, I'll constantly think about it or do some calculations in my head when I'm supposed to to something else. One thing is not paying attention to what somebody is telling you, another is going into a room or dropping something somewhere and then later have absolutely no clue why you went into the room or where you dropped that thing.
So.....do you ever just zone out while listening to someone and think why the tube is lit And how does interference happen between light from the windows and the tubelight? 🤔
ADHD vibes here too. Like, you’re bound to be distracted by one thing or another, and if you’re in a one-to-one where you need to show engagement, then it’s probably going to be your own thoughts going sideways where you automatically try to maintain a façade (which is again bound to happen if you have these kinds of long conversations often and aren’t too blunt to allow yourself to plain drop people after promising attention).
ok lmao this is my sign that im gonna be a physicist cuz this legit happens to me everytime, and the second the convo is over im like 'what if his idea goes wrong, will i be held accountable for that too? oh sh- gotta talk to him later'
hey I've seen some comments here of people who got into physics because of you and wanted to say something too. I already liked physics before, but your videos helped me get more excited about the academic life and imagining how it is. I managed to get into the university of são paulo so I'm pretty excited about that!
I love you Andrew. I hope we can play OSRS some time. My name is i skulz i. You got me interested into physics and I am finishing up my last semester before my Bach and I recently got accepted into a Phd program at University of Huntsville. Thanks for these videos man!
The guy's asked "What do you think, is that just... is it dumb?" in this anxious, self-conscious manner and answers yes. :D What an absolute noob; I mean what a cubic rube you have to be. That's just pretend listening 101 that you never(!) do that.
I am a huge fan, i was already interested in physics before i found your channel but when i did you made physics more interesting and made me more inspired to dive deeper into it.
As I'm studying mathand physics independently, I don't have the imperativeness that uni students have and motivation becomes the only thing keeping me going. You and others such as Flammable Maths, Zack Star, and BPRP have given me the inspiration I need and keep giving it to me so I thank you.
Hey Andrew, unrelated to the video, but is energy an actual physical concept or just a mathematical function?? My teacher couldn't give a satisfactory answer...
Its a frame dependent quantity, since it is the zeroth component of the momentum 4 vector. In some sense I guess the absolute energy can be arbitrary, but energy differnces may be physical. In quantum field theory we often get away with the infinities because the infinities arise from non observable quantities
C'mon Andrew, what happened to the String Theory videos? Just got my masters in Mathematics and am currently trying to decide if I'm going for a PhD in Theoretical Physics. Pump those videos out boi!
Im a senior pursuing BS in physics and math. Im struggling with these upper level classes because there's sooooo much material and sooooo many formulas. Professors say you need not remember them, but if u dont how can you do anything? Memorizing formulas takes so much time, im constantly behind. Taking notes from textbooks is another problem because it's all important, but i cant copy entire books. I just dont know what to do. If i dont memorize the shit, im not goibg to make the proper mental connections, but memorizing the shit means i cant get caught up. How the fuk do physicts manage this?
This feels so relatable cause I was literally thinking the same things a few weeks back, and I'd very often zone out thinking about renormalization or other shizz like that xD
oh god! this happens with me almost everyday with my family. they blabber on their gossip and i think why does einstein's cosmological constant have such a small value.
When someone is talking to you and that is the EXACT moment your brain tries to workout some concept that's been evading you for weeks
The tortured genius is not responsible for when their genius reveals itself.
Now I know why andrew isn't uploading.
He has just switched to become a professional listener.
Man that dude can really do everything.
wow, such low effort
very wow
wow
But I made it for you

Wait did the regular decision round results come out already???
Or did you do EA
@@dr.johna.zoidberg5907 I did ea

My boyfriend sent me this video, and he is a physicist...
I thought I finally found a good guy who actually cares what I'm saying. 🤦♀️
It could be a half joke lol, like they do care what you are saying but perhaps don't always understand or drift off
@@cameronschyuder9034 again dropping it to ab uncertainty..............wait.....
I didn't hear a word you said, but this was a really good video.

The kids are all grown up 🥲
My God, is Papa Flammy ok? He would never let you out of the basement! Could it be that…JENS IS IN THE BASEMENT NOW??
Its actually an enclosure inside his basement
Finally, something to watch for physics boiis ❤️
Time to binge Andrew's Skits instead of studying for my midterm
Exactly my thoughts now
I'm a dual physics/electrical engineering major ...

I don't think meow meow believes you're a good listener. After all, he's always asking for food and you never give it to him.
"you never give it to him" that's what she said

Your acting skills peaked at "i was hoping you'd say that". Moment of silence for that performance

I that because your are thinking what to say at the same time or just the act of processing the info?
you are thinking about something else and what you hear is just saved in ”ram” to be processed soon or then ignored
@@drk5orp-655 Usually because before they start talking I am still processing some large problem entirely unrelated to what they are talking about.

I would utilise that time to derive something in my head or even think of something weird to integrate
Love the videos you’re a big part of why I chose physics as my major going into college next year. That and 2D projectile motion
😄
Nice it was hilarious 😂
Also do tell how to read textbooks, I'm pretty bad at it!😅

Time to become a gigachad and don the grey hair during my undergrad and postgrad (hopefully).
Ayyyy he’s back
Watching your channel is kinda like finding out that other people play "the floor is lava" 😭 I KNEW other people had to be doing this
Yes, the idea is crazy. But is it crazy enough to be true? No not quite. Make it more outlandish, and then perhaps it will be closer to reality. 😀
I watched this during my online quantum class
