could you do one on how to faraday your vehicle! A How too Thanks Great videos!
I treasure my old hand operated drill ,kitchen tools , etc. They were all we had when I was growing up. Imagine that. : )
Thanks for watching Margot!
Love non electric gadgets !
I've been Prepping for many years and I have been collecting "Old Antique Manual Hand Tools" for years. I have enough of most of them to use some for Barter. Can you imagine how much these will be worth after SHTF? I have some Two Man Crosscut Saws also. Be prepared and be safe my friend.
Thanks. You too. Those saws are the bomb. : )@@lewis9888
I doubt you’ll live long enough to use them !!😂
Currently on day two of no power in Massachusetts after a bad storm, it’s crazy how dependent we are on electricity, no money, no refrigeration, no wifi, no Xbox live
Cook books, gardening and food preserving books and books for entertainment.
I prepare for a grid down, not so much for an EMP. EMP is mad max/walking dead to me.
Texas winter storm is a good example, hurricanes, tornado, & other natural disasters are the most likely to affect me.
EMP is way down my list. I spend on the most likely emergency 1st.
To wash/rinse clothes in, I bought a used commercial Mop Bucket & Side Press Wringer Combo for 20 bucks.
That’s a good idea! I hadn’t thought of that.
Good video JR! Sad part is the fact that this video is becoming more relevant every day as we see what is going on within the world stage. Stay SAFE out there!
Thank you Scott!
We have a laundry bucket: Felsnaptha soap, cloths line & pins. We also have an antique wash tub and washboard :)
Good job! I have two plastic buckets (one for soapy water, one for rinse water,) a new, clean toilet plunger, powdered biodegradable laundry soap, and a clothesline with clothespins. You and I will have clean clothes for our family if the SHTF! 😁
👍🏻 prep👍🏻 prep👍🏻 and prep👍🏻
Thanks for watching Ronald!
I'm quite blessed in non electric tools and power tools.
I got a lot of my stuff from my grandparents when they downsized
I have used "The Club" steering wheel lock on my cars since 1991. Works great, takes 5 seconds, and I have never had my car stolen!
Fencing pliers are quite useful, pliers that cut,pry and has a hammer.
Silcot Keys are often forgotten for power outages and other emergencies. We had a tornado come through and the water dept lost power, which meant they had to get generators brought in. Many people were left without power and water for days. A simple tool can get you out of a jam.
That’s a good one! I’ve shown them in other videos but didn’t think to put them in this one. Thanks for commenting!
Depends on how they are sealed
What does it do?
@@CaptainApanaused to turn on, open up the spigot attached to outside of a public building like a restaurant, grocery store, and others.
It's actually spelled silcock key; I ordered them from Amazon.
The sun is also at its most active period and we could be looking at a solar storm capable of wiping out the electricity of the whole world at some point next year.
Well, idk on a cell phone with no service...
Downloaded maps, plant identification,First aid manuals,a camera for documentation, a Morris code app, digital diary, star chart, emergency light, cooking, all kinds of stuff and reasons to keep a spare phone in a bag
I've made copies of recipes on paper.
I would strongly suggest books and paper copies for things like this, in case cell towers don't work. Paper maps of your area with a manual compass. Wild edibles book for your region. Where There is No Doctor book, Where There is No Dentist book, and first aid manual. Camping cookbook, etc. If you buy small, used paperback copies they are cheaper than hardcovers, and you can store them in gallon-sized plastic freezer ziploc baggies to keep them from tearing or getting wet.
Id Never Considered a Camera 📸 before... But as a History Fan, it Makes Sense Now Completely... 💯
Thanks for the great podcast! I started living a more simple life and it takes a bit more time but making your own candles and modifying different things so they can be indoors is a lot of fun. I also like building the things I need as well as growing as much of my own can be easy and satisfying. I couldn’t help it smile when you mentioned reading material. We have a large bookshelf that is loaded with an atlas, how to books, medical books, travel books and a lot more. I have a spot in the shelves for playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, coloring books etc. I have 0:06 a small dehydrated and lots of jars. Tools are huge. Hand tools are mostly what I have but there is an electric drill I have and made a point to buy nearly all the attachments. My toolboxes are ready whenever I need them. Sometimes I work I’m very small projects so have a lot of the small hand tools. I also have made a small galvanized garbage can as well as a larger one into faraday cages. My solar panels and power packs fit inside quite well. The smaller faraday cage holds small solar chargers for phones and small devices. I have crammed batteries inside both faraday cages.
Thanks JR, need to get some manual drills, been on my list for a little while, might bump them up the list as have most of the others, other than the washing stuff. I’ll improvise there.
Thanks for watching Mike!
Nice classic Sears Craftsman traditional screwdriver set. Think I had the same one when I was 12. So cool
Thank you!
If we are hit with multiple EMP's within a 1- month period it's all about lighters and weapons. There will be few people with means to communicate electronically after their 2nd or 3rd faraday cage gets fried.
Good video James I have most of the gear you showed except the hand drills and brace and bit, I also got a portable plastic washing machine you hand crank. I need a Silky Saw and one of those auger bits to drill larger holes through logs I have forgotten it's actual name and I never see them at any of my local hardware stores. Stay safe.
Thanks for watching Rodney!
I would like to have a laptop and a couple of external hard drives with information. Things I would use and understand but also things that would be for other people or to learn new things. Might be a vital key to know how your local water purification plant functions or how to synthesize different compounds
Great video JR, and I always love the old ways and tools, but hope we're not forced to use them...lol. Stay safe. Cheers from Alberta!!
Thank you!
Excellent content JR. Very thorough as usual and great reminders. I need a wash board. I didn’t think of that one. Thanx again for sharing. Have a goodin 👍, Friend.
Thank you!
Please will laptop, Tv be affected with emp, how can they be protected?
Smart video thank you😊👍
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thanks again J R ! Hope you had a good Thanksgiving !
Thank you Mark!
Thank for the great information. I have some things but you always remind me of areas I need to work on while I can. Keep up the great work.
Thank you Maggie!
Thx so much. Your videos are so clear, concise and helpful. We took NYS Emergency Prep training and are doing go bags and winter clothes etc for car. An EMP can be nuclear attack or solar EMP. Thx for your exc. advice!
You're welcome! I'm glad it helps!
Great video, JR! Thanks for the ideas and info!
Thank you Millie!
I wonder if a blood meter would still work
I’m thinking probably not.
Thank you JR. Great info.
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching!
Excellent video 👍 Thank you 💜
So comprehensive! Thank you! : ) Merry Christmas : )
Thanks
Thank you👍
Thank you JR , lots of good info and products I’m definitely considering the go dark products 👍
Thanks for watching Daniel!
Can you pressure can using a white gas/unleaded stove?
👍. Thanks J.R.
You’re welcome!
Great info!!
I’ve wondered if batteries or power source are not connected to whatever device, if those devices would still operate after an emp event?
If it’s a simple device with larger components, it should be okay without batteries. Anything with semiconductors or chips would be vulnerable. An old incandescent flashlight with a sliding switch would probably be fine, but a new flashlight with circuitry and LEDs may not.
How can I protect my gasoline generator from EMP? It's large
Conductive cloth would probably be the easiest, but it’s expensive.
Geiger counter? Gas mask? Which ones would you suggest?
What did people in the Soviet Union use to light their homes before candles?
Electricity
thumbs up
Thank you!
HELLO GTSY
Can't even legally get incandescent bulbs in California
What do you think about emp cloth?
It should be a similar material to what is used in the faraday bags.
Truth is no one can truly prepare for a large EMP . Just try the best you can .
Is that a real brick wall or wall paper?
We also got to protect our self from microwave weapons that would need to bury them which would prevent everything
😮 re state your comment in clearer words : dunno what youre tryin to say.
