- In this video I discuss three reasons why I think Cuban cigars are in-fact the best cigars you can buy. I've personally tried a whole heap of cigars from many different origins now and after all of my testing and smoking I realise that Cuban cigars are just better for a few key reasons. To find out what the reasons are, check out the full video and I look forward to discussing this with you in the comments section below.

I love your honesty, super relatable. You’re not afraid to share honest opinion however it comes out and that’s greatly appreciated.
Love it mate, I’m more of a Cuban fan over new worlds so totally with you. Good to see another Cigar Aficionado making interesting videos!
Informative video mate looking forward to more. Cigar Aficionado!
Cigar aficionado. Great video! Good luck with the channel
Good to have another UK based cigar channel! Cigar Aficionado 👍
Great video! I am very envious of your first cigar experience :)
I had no idea what it was at the time haha.
Thank you so much for watching my videos.
I’ve been a Cuban fan for years but let me tell you , every box of Cubans I have bought, at least 2 to 3 have construction problems and are not smokable . When I buy a box of davidoffs or padrons I expect all those cigars to be constructed to perfection
That sucks man :(. I hope you have better luck in the future.
Yep cuban cigars have gone downhill. I recently had a romeo churchill size and the thing lacked any flavour, needed to be aged. For this reason, I would easily go with a davidoff or Padron as I like the taste of a truly aged cigar without having to age them myself
Also don't get me started on their QC. Essentially recommend the PerfecDraw tool with any cuban you buy these days as the draw if not plugged, is super tight.
Great video. Can't wait for the next one!! Cigar Aficionado 😉
Cigar oficianado. Great quality of content and impressively produced for a first video. Looking forward to some more UK creators
I'm not sure if I prefer Cubans or Non-Cubans. My collection currently has 7 non-cubans and 39 cubans so that's heavily leaning towards cubans. I really like some NCs, I need to do more testing. What I do know is that I like both. Ideally I'd have a 50%/50% balance of Cuban and Non-Cuban.
Great rant and completely agree with you! I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy Cubans from the late 90s through today and I have yet to find that unique Cuban taste profile anywhere else besides tobacco grown in Cuba. People forget to recognize that unique flavor preferences vary from person to person, mine happens to steer me towards true Cuban cigars, there’s just nothing else like them.
Thank you for watching, What's the best Cuban cigar you've ever smoked?
I was fortunate enough to have a few cabinets of the late 90s Cohiba Robustos between 2001-2006. I can still taste them. Nothing has matched those.
Russell Rands oh wow! That sounds incredible. I can only imagine how amazing they must’ve been. That’s very fortunate, well done on getting them man.
Cigar Rants my family and I were very lucky and fortunate. Those sticks are so memorable. I’m enjoying your channel and what you’re doing! Keep it up brotha!
some prefer to smoke larva and bug shit. some dont. give me the tobacco with less bug shit on it.
Greetings. Great videos and reviews. Im new to cigar smoking. I’ve been smoking Davidoff Late Hour for a year. I was told to try Cubans. I have 9 various tubos. How long do I have to age Cubans before smoking a Cuban tubo Such as Romeo y Juliet ?
Find out how old they are first. If you don’t have the time at least a few months. Maybe even a month. Otherwise if they’re at least 2 to 3 years old then by all means they are ready
Cigar aficionado. Nice video bud, subscribed 👍
I couldn’t agree more. I have been smoking cigars for years now and always trying new cigars because I rarely enjoy any new world cigars. I have just discovered sites that ship Cubans to the US and have loved every single one I have ordered so far
Love the video. Subscribed 👍
Cigar Aficionado
Started trying cigars a couple of years ago...new world...and agree...stomach problems. Having to take a spoonful of sugar and a glass of water. Davidoff were fine...but since I found a great source for Cubans at great prices...never had any problems. Have 20 new world cigars in the humidor...taking up valuable space.
Everything was spot on! Subscribing and sharing.
that's awesome thank you so much :).
I thought I was in church during his gurkha rant!....GOSPEL
Man the comments on this video are, shall we say, Cigar Aficionado! Great vid my bro can't wait for more!
Thank you so much for the support man super appreciate it
Great quality video mate, good luck with the channel. 'Cigar Afficanado'

Great Video Usman
😂 My man said "Seven different types" haha... Full rampage.. I admire the honesty. Great review channel. Keep it up bro.🥊
Cigar aficionado, great video! Look forward to more.
Much appreciated :-).
Agree with the points, keep it up mate! Cigar Aficionado!
I couldn’t agree with you more! There is just something about Cuban cigars. People will always argue that they have found that new world cigar that’s just as good or better. Well, I haven’t found it. For me, nothing compares. I’m glad you get the same kind of enjoyment I do from Cubans. I tend to lean towards a spicy cigar. Cohiba Maduro magicos is one of my favorites. What are some of your favorites? Great video!
Great info I been getting in to Cubans lately and I love them so far I hear people store them at lower rh I been keeping them around 67 68 and then been great but hear people store them at at lower rh 63 65 what are your storage info
I find that keeping them at a slightly lower humidity does improve the cost flavour. It’s definitely something that I prefer.
Lmao I like this guy 🤣🤣👏🏽👏🏽🔥👍🏽 I’m a newbie and just found your channel .. love it thanks for the vid
Your first cigar was a Behike, wow nice baseline cigar to have! Hope to have one someday, but haven't even had a Cuban at all yet since I live in the US. Nice video!
I was looking for the link for CIGARS Limited. I do not see it.
Awesome video!!!
I'm thinking not just the soil but also methods that are being used , for example younger leaves and possibly fermentation processes different..... ?
US smokers seem to prefer Nicaraguan sticks due to the fact that we really can’t get Cuban cigars here. But when we do they need aged 3-4 years before smoking cause Cuba churns them out so fast which leads to young flavors, horrible burns and an overall bad experience for the chase of them
Dominicans
That's not true
I smoke Cohiba shorts and love them
@@munkbok if you’re an American the Cohibas you’re smoking are not Cuban at all.

Cigar Aficianado - very much enjoyed the presentation style
My first cuban ever was the Partagas D4 and the rest was history. Never looked back at another cigar maybe opusx for a switch but cuba all the way. Great video man
Personally I agree they are better to me. My collection is 90 % Cuban and I live in an area where they are not readily available. I've always said, like others have in the past, "Cuban's are not better, just different". Thanks for the video !
I totally agree with your thoughts.
Great video
Excellent review. Cuban all way ❤️
Your Gurkha description alone earned my Sub.
Loll, thank you :)
@@cigarinspector2023 I to had a good chuckle on the gurkha comments lol...im new to cigars and smoke on a budget , i have only smoked budget honduran etc , mainly robusto's mild to medium and have found some really good smokes , and some not so good .My only cuban i have is a Romeo y Julieta tubed No.2...I hope its good..
New cigar smoker here, why cut after you light? I’m going to try this but curious the logic?
In short because it tastes so much better. First inch of the cigar doesn't end up tasting bitter because of it being overheated during the lighting stage.
I'd love to know waht you think if you try it.
As a fellow Cigar Aficionado I'm inclined to agree on the point that Cuba makes the finest cigars! However! When it comes to complexity and flavour new world has some of the best in my opinion.
If I want some high quality tobacco flavours with notes of earth, grassy hay and pepper Cubans, all day long Cubans.
If I want, fire smoke, coffee, chocolate and a really complex mix of naturally aromatic flavours some of the new world methods coming from Deadwood Tobacco, Kentucky fire cured etc. You just can't beat those for that type of experience. BUT I enjoy both and hold both in different categories. Sure they're both cigars but my Cubans are my premium smokes and my every day smokes will be... Ok my go to at the minute is Partagas but the new worlds are just as much a part of my cigar enjoyment as are my Cubans.
Definitely a good discussion though and always an interesting point of conversation. Can't wait to see more. Subbed.
I completely agree, a varied humidor is definitely the best way to find out what tastes work for you.
I would disagree. I find that New World cigars tend to be much more peppery and bold. Less complexity.
I 100% agree with you. I have smoked virtually every kind of Cuban cigar known and actually been to Cuba many times. The New World cigars are amazing and full of intense flavors.
Great video....Cheers from Oklahoma
Cigar Aficionado. Agreed. Cubans are the best smokes. Difficult to decide which one though.
Couldn’t agree more bro.
Cigar aficionado
Hope the channel takes off Usman.👍 'cigar aficionado'
Absolutely agree!
One of my favorite Cubans is the Fonseca line. They are delicious and best of all, very reasonably priced.
Tadashi Ishihara aren’t they short-filler, machine made cigars?
Great 👍 love smoking Cubans 💨
Gurkha year 18 was the cigar that bonded me to cigars
Is there a reliable online site to purchase Cubans?
Where are you based?
@@cigarinspector2023 I live in northern Illinois in the USA. I once heard there were good sources in Canada.
nice one Usman

Well I've been smoking for about a year now and I started smoking Nicaraguan cigars. I love Placensia cigars. Then I had my first Davidoff and wow!! Now I smoke mainly Cubans because a friend of mine was wondering why I was paying sooooooo much for them Davidoffs!! I love me a Hoyo epic no.2 or a Rey del mundo Choix Supreme or a RYJ fat Churchill....heck I'll take a cazadores or a Vagueros. Also I dip the tip In a cognac and honey mixture and I'm in heaven! So I absolutely 💯 agree with you my friend!!!!!
Completely agree, nothing beats a Cuban. However, there are some New Worlds that taste quite a bit similar. The Montecristo Espada, Camacho Pre Embargo, Gran Habano #5, CAO Columbia, any Caldwell or LFD etc.
Btw...spot on with your gurkha review
I agree with most of what you said however. Flavor is subjective like with bourbon or whiskey. And Cuba is known to have more quality control issues. For example you’ll never find a bad pad romp Cigar. That being said I do prefer the flavor of Cubans but that’s me too. And the price of a Cuban in the United States is the equivalent to a Opus x. If we could get them in the states I would be curious how things will change
Good to hear some points of view in favour of Cubans, as I've read lots lately of pro-New World cigars stating Cubans aren't really worth it. I don't smoke Cubans too often but I love them when I do! - Cigar Aficionado

Great smoke, lasts ages aswell perfect for a couple glasses of scotch. “Cigar Aficionado” for sure 👌🏻
My only question is, has your opinion on them being better value compared to new world changed since the massive price hikes?
Yes :)
@@cigarinspector2023 wow nice.
I enjoyed this video my friend I also think Cubans are way better 👍👍👍
Lmaooo your Gurkha rant 😂 however give a shot to the box pressed class regent in toro, the evil is ehh. Oh and the humidor Lugano is incredible
LOL, thank you :).
I might give them another try haha.
I love this guy!!!
I love your review on Ghurka 😂

What lighter is that? Cool.
I smoked a Alfonso gran selccion, that’s a close as it gets to a Cuban . But it’s 42 usd for the smaller
Amen brother
Looking good Cigar aficionado.
Love my Cubans!!
Although my favorite cigars are Cubans (as well as Aruban cigars which don't ship internationally so best of luck finding one)... I have never heard a worse argument in my life.
* I hope I'm not the only one, but I had to listen to him say that Cubans are at a better priced than premium non-cubans on repeat because I couldn't believe my ears.
* Everyone and their mother knows that Davidoff and Gurkha can be highly overpriced but I can literally spend about $11 USD and buy an 8.5 x 60 Double Ligero Digger by La Flor Dominicana, which is a great cigar, for less than any Cuban..
* Every time I went outside of the US and bought Cuban cigars, finding anything cheaper than $11 USD was an absolute challenge and when I did find Cubans that cheap, they were so small that they couldn't last 30 minutes to smoke and I had to scour to just to be able to find one without mold.
* If I could buy a Cuban cigar at least as large as a Toro or even a Churchill for under $35 than maybe you would almost be able to have a valid point. But you're not even almost close at making a good point. Your like on Pluto with that take
Thats US prices… you cant compare US prices to UK prices when you don’t have Cuban cigars on shelves there.
Hi Rants,
I haved smoked Partagas and Bolívar and they are so tasteful and mild compared with nicaraguan or honduran cigars. I found them very agressive in my palate. Also, the aftertaste remains un my mouth much more time.
See you
Eat your words my friend, from a new world smoker.....Appreciate the content and the opinion.
Arturo Fuente is doing it for me, everything barring opus x , my father are excellent as well ,Only Cubans I really love are Trinidad Vigia/ Reyes. Just y opinion.
Dckhead lol I agreed w this video when it dropped at at Hong Kong prices I'll be smoking more davidoff and Placencia cigars.
I agree with you on the Gurkha sentiment
Couldn't agree more.
Dam straight brother. Nothing as that distinctive Cuban earthy taste you either love it or find it boring.slower burn and surprisingly cubans don’t knock me on my ass. I’m partial to a Arturo Fuente now and then.
Facts.
Absolutely. Cuban cigars are the best. There is no replicating the flavor. Fuente comes close, IMO. They are my favorite non cuban brand. But I dare anyone to smoke an Upmann, a Partagas, a Montecristo, and tell me it's not unique. It's the most premium tobacco in the world. Bar none. My only complaint is Habanos needs draw testers at every facility. Their rollers are consistently over packing the cigars, and it pisses me off. But hands down, they are the best. I don't give a fuck what anyone else says
Only realCuban I ever smoked was one that had been smoked and put out and placed in a plastic bag for storage for a week, I was a teenager and knew nothing of cigars. I’m now 28 and smoke quality cigars often, stored in humidors correctly and smoked the way they should be, and I’ve still never found a cigar that tastes as good as that one. It was like puffing on the smoothest most velvety dark chocolate on the world
Cigar Aficionado
Ovet rated... i like the opium dipped from Costa Rica ❤
Excellent video! In Canada, cigars are outrageously over taxed. I smoked hundreds of cigars in my life. The vast majority of them was from the new world. I agree, no others cigars taste like Cuban cigars. But, the best quality price, you’ll find it in new world. I love some profiles of the new world cigars, that is impossible to obtain in Cuban cigars. I love them both. But for me, Cuba, is another country, just like Hondura, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic. They deserve to recognize, because if the can’t replicate the flavors of Cuban cigars, Cuba can’t replicate the flavors of theses country.
Cubans have New World beat on low and medium cost cigars too. Or at least they did until Cuban prices sky rocketed last summer. I was getting Monte 4s for 125/box, RyJ Mille Fleurs for 75 and JLP Brevas for 37. No other cigars can top that taste for those $.
I genuinely love you
Aw thank you so much haha
100% agree but also there are many super new world cigars that are far better value for money especially these days where Cohibas and Trinidad’s price gone crazy!!
There was a time around 2015 where I thought, this can't be true. I smoked exclusively cuban cigars for 3 years until 2010, but then I stopped smoking cigars and just smoked a pipe. In 2016 I wanted to smoke cigars again, but I found out that the construction and the quality of the tobacco was so bad that I completely went away from cubans to the new world cigars. I still always craved that cuban flavor, but never got it again. Until, a few months ago, when I ordered a few cubans just to try how they are now, and bam, the quality was fantastic again. But now comes the bad part again. Almost every cuban cigar online is sold out🙉 and no one really nows when new ones come in. I was at least able to get a box of "R&J-Mille Fleurs", but that's it. Hope to find more at the local tobacco store, but I guess they will be sold out too. Darned you Covid😤
Cigar aficionado
Totally agree. It’ so funny when Cigar Aficionado claims to make blind tastings of cigars since you can tell which is a cuban one just by the colour of the wrapper and by the cold smell. That unique barnyard, leather, woodiness all wrapped in sweet honey aromas ...
I saw many claims of thight draw but bear in mind that this is cuban tradition, cuban cigars have a tighter draw which is absolutelly normal.
I guess over 90% of non cuban cigars are blended : dominican, mexican, nicaraguan, etc tobaccos whereas cubans are puros.
No one cand match even close the complexity and uniqueness of cuban cigars.
Of course, this is a very personal opinion
they can match it if they put bug shit, pest and larva in the tobacco. and let it cure with cow dung smell. people call it "barnyard".
For me personally I can get that same Cuban taste with a Romeo y Julieta…I guess peoples tastes are different but at this point people claiming to love Cubans only especially in this century is just a bandwagon.
@@stylisticsguy3746 aren't Romeo y Julieta Cuban?
@@munkbok I believe i already responded to you but if you live in America then Cubans can not be bought or sold at all and you have to buy them outside the country. In America the Cohibas and Romeo y Julietas and other brands with the Cuban name are just a Re branded name of the original families who left from Cuba and came to America. So all the Cuban named Cigars are not Cuban at all but are just cigars harvested in the Dominican Republican, Africa, and other countries. There are lots of Dominican made cigars in America that taste very similar to Cuban ones though. I have a cigar stock that is hard to find for me now called Esteban Carreras Cubana Real Semilla Limitada Reserva which is very much just like a Cuban stick since it is a first generation seed and is grown in similar conditions
Your right, some of these new world cigars are wayyyyyy outta pocket with nicotine content
I started with cubans and 20 years later im still in love with them .
I eventually ended up trying Arturo Fuente cigars and fell in love with them although in most cases are a completely different approach than the cuban. From there years after my humidor is 60% cuban 30% Arturo Fuente and 10% some other brand of new world cigar....
Im still in love with cubans cause they cubans!! The soil , the sun the tradition of fermentation in Cuba .... is just not comparable or i would say i could cheat on a cuban only with A. Fuente lol
HOWEVER!! Cuban cigars unless u can get hold of old boxes like 3 years or 2 at least prior to the year of purchase.. or even longer if u lucky and have the money for it ... are not at their full potential and also you most likely goin to have issue with burn n draw .I do believe Cuban cigars need aging.infact when i buy a box of cubans i smoke 1 or 2 maximum the rest will go to the side to age.... in the meantime u can smoke some good new word cigars straight from the box , yes they different yes they can be stronger than cuban but they have their on flow n in most cases they also cheaper... i wouldnt venture into many new world brands as they are not for me at all but i tried a few that i consider to be really a good smoke... Aj fernandez is decent, Ashton has the hands of fuente behind some of the blends and also tobacco from tabacalera fuente, decent also... and a few others .
🇨🇺s....hands down the best!
me: *hasnt even seen a cigar irl*
mmm yes, good point
Hmm.. it's true that Cuban cigars' flavor is unique. However, Davidoffs are unique either IMHO. As Zino said, it is better to smoke great cigars instead of two poor cigars(talking about size matter you mentioned, not saying Julieta is poor, just I think late hour is better) But still I agree with you on Gurkha. They are craps. Even my kids hate to smoke it. LMAO
However, I think you overlooked some sides either,, such as draw problems.. half of Cuban cigars have a problem usually (or at least one third of them) and that's definitely no no to me especially when we are talking about Cohiba or some Partagas.
Anyway, if you are saying that cuban cigars are usually better on some sides then I would agree on you.
Lastly, really liked your video :)
true about Gurkha
Great video, like a true aficionado
Get in touch you won :)
@@cigarinspector2023 wow !!!
New world cigars are primarily made for the American market, bigger ring gauge and stronger, I prefer a more mellow smoke
I agree with a lot of Ghurka tasting like crap. However, Ghurka beauty if you get a good one is a good cigar. Also, the 100 year aged I think or 50 your age don't forget not bad. Royal reserve limited is not bad either. I agree. I love Cuban cigars but I would not put them over a good Dominican opus X. Or some really good Nicaraguans. Its like comparing red and white wine. Two different animals but for the price of a behike 52. Which is now going for $300 for a cigar I'd rather have an opus X corona.
I wouldn’t agree of what he said about Ghurka cigars. Even though they make the most expensive, they also offer pretty affordable sticks. In terms of flavour I’m amazed by Ghurka Royal Challenge XO and from Ghurka Reserve series. They taste brilliant and are with trying!
Lol, I've had my share of Ghurkas and some have been ok I guess. Problem I have with them is there construction. It sucks balls; everytime I smoke one it's like maning the sails on a sailboat or some shit...so much effort, touching up, canoeing etc...they just suck ass.
I did have a Partagas De Luxe tubo the other day and it was flawless in terms of everything from begining to end.
Ghurkas actually do suck... But flavors are subjective. Behiki 52's are great but price also Influences experience. For me Cubans are good but all cigars are good.
Cuban for flavour.
New World for consistancy and construction.
Not a bad point to make. I can't say I disagree.
The funny thing is this guy starts with Gurkha instead of something like AVO, Olivia, La Flora Dominica, or Padron. May want to try the “New World” Vs. Cuban cigar with something that has a bit of history behind it.
Could you elaborate what you mean please cause you comment doesn't seem to fit what i say in the video.
