New World has been consistently better than Cohiba for the past 10 years. The only thing Cohiba has it the classic unique tobacco taste that can't be replicated.
@WilL-eo5cz The tobacco is already aged enough that you can smoke it. You can let it sit longer and let it age more, but there's a point of diminishing returns. The same goes for cask aged beer and hard spirits. The main point of the humidor is to stop it from drying out and prevent any potential bug eggs from hatching if they exist.
Sadly, your point regarding strict quality control only applies to the cash cow, Cohiba. Any other Cuban brand and you're very much rolling the dice in terms of burn/draw.
People who think Cohiba’s are superior are the same kind of people who think Dom Perignon is the greatest champagne ever. Cohiba is Nike of cigars. Cohiba is the STANDARD for a cigar but it is definitely not THE cigar.
Hi Mel, great video! I am still within my first year of joining the Cigar Lifestyle and I’m yet to try a Cuban Puro… the way you described Cuban Cigars being your preferred choice has got my attention and I now have an interest on travelling to a destination where I can enjoy Cuban Cigars before the year end…
Hi Mel.you are a very pretty lady and very knowledgeable about cigars.I enjoy both Cuban and New World cigars.I find for me that I prefer New World cigars to Cuban Cigars.I do love the twangy tangy taste of Cuban cigars.I find that New World cigars have better quality control then Cuban cigars but this is my own opinion
I think new world cigars have superior QC of of hundreds and hundreds NW cigars, I've never had draw issues. On the contrary, the local Cubans bought at local LCDH, regularly have draw issues across multiple brands...
Hi Mel, great subject. While I think a well aged well stored Cuban is hard to beat, I will not be mortgaging my house for the Cuban government. I think there are quite a few new world cigars that compare with Cubans, at a more reasonable price point.
I disagree with you 100% about Cuban vs new world quality. Cuban quality can be terrible while new world cigars have superior quality. But,, the flavors of a Cuban are unique.
This is why wines from California have far surpassed those of France. All of the major vintner who were tired of the strict rules in France moved to California to blend and produce what they wanted to. I see the same thing happened with Cuban growers and makers left for Miami and South America.
The new cuban cigars being produced are absolute garbage. They lack any strong flavour and aging. For the prices they are asking, a davidoff or a padron is a way better cigar esp if one likes aged tobacco. Though an aged cuban cigar, if one has the time and patience to age one, cannot be beat. However when I spend money on an ultra premium cigar, I expect it to be fantastic from the get-go and not need aging. Also don't get me started on cuban cigars quality control, essentially one needs to keep handy the PerfecDraw tool as the ones coming from Cuba has super tight draws or are plugged completely.
I’ve had them both and enjoy them both. But I think new world quality is impeccable. Cubans can be hit or miss anymore unless your paying 400 a stick. And you’re beautiful.
Maybe Cohiba has good quality control but otherwise I totally disagree about the new world having worse quality control.

@@humansvd3269i heard that you need to age cuban cigars in a humidor and most new world cigars are already aged tobacco. Do you know if thats true?

Totally agree.
Cohiba also is terrible with quality control believe me

Never buy from a country that uses lazy socialist workers.

YUP! New world cigars are better by far. Why would socialist workers do a good job at making cigars? No reason for them to be better.
Right now in 2024, its a 50/50 gamble buying Cuban cigars as to whether you get a belter or an unsmokable one
Quality of Cubans varies on the brand as well.
LOL, you trust a socialist country that has no reason to be better...?

I would say most new world cigars are better then Cuban cigars.

It's not like they had choice. They absolutely had to leave or lose everything to the.....
Literally the BEST CIGAR VIDEO of 2023. I so enjoy your voice and style.

I live in Detroit, I used to smuggle Cubans across the border from Windsor before the pandemic. Cubans are still the best imho
New world cigars seem so much better to me.
Cuba is part of the new world lol
In my personal opinion, some new world are indeed very good BUT nothing compares to a Cuban Cigar when it is a good specimen.
All my New world cigars have been perfect when you pay over $5 a stick. Cubans (Socialist) cigars are a hit and miss.
non cuban cigars highly overrated
You miss-spelled "Cuban" cigars
