Brilliant! Thanks for making this was super helpful.
Very, Very Thanks...for this video...
My 24-70 fell on te ground a while ago. Suddenly last week it stopped working (lens error clean the contacts) as soon as I zoomed in. Because of this tutorial I atleast knew how to open it. Didn't see anything strange, but I closed it again and now it works again. Fingers crossed it stays that way! Thanks for the tutorial
Thank you 😊
Excellent work ✌️
Thank you. I am glad to learn what to do with my 24-70.
Hi, thank you :)
Thank you so much!
hi do you have anything that changes the focus motor? i really need to see one my lens doesnt focus
Very nice job
Roberto Thank you! :)
Your video helped me change the zoom key-lock on my lens, thanks!
I have another question though.
I believe that the AF on my lens is not working well. I know that the camera also has an AF sensor below the mirror, but when I put this lens at around 40MM or more, it simply can't focus anymore. It keeps searching for a focused area and then stops, unfocused. Any ideas what it could be? When I use the "live view" mode though, it does focus normally.
I wonder if there's some sort of AF sensor, somewhere in the camera, that could be bad. Thanks for your help
Hi, thank you for your time :) If the problem is the same with other lens, yes, the camera has AF issue. But i think that the problem is in the lens. Just check the GMR sensor, magnetic tape and the focus and zoom brush . If you like the vide, hit LIKE and subscribe to our channel :)
at 13:08 a critical piece of video was cut out. bending of the flexi right way is part of the assembly.
Good morning sir,
i have an issue with my lens canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8 L v1
Focus work fine with me but there's no sharp at all plus colors not looks like reality and i can send you raw samples for more explaining
can you tell em what's the problem and how much it coast to solve it
Hello, I’m from Mexico. Your job is excellent!! Congratulations! I’m having trouble to remove the little plastics (3 white plastic). I try to remove but just don’t move and you makes look super easy. Any tip? I need to remove because I need fix the flex cable. Minute 6.54 please help me!!!!! Maybe the have some glue?
Hi, use screw and put it in the white plastic roller. Then will be easy to take it out .
I would like to ask, is the cable is the problem if I can move the aperture from 2.8 to 22 even though the diaphragm didn't communicating or just stuck. Maybe the motherboard? What do you think? Because it didn't appear the 01 error. Thanks and stay safe.
Hi, you an send video to service@digi-service.eu and we will give you solution. Regards! Stay safe!
Hi! great video thanks for sharing :) Do you plan on doing a similar video for the Version 1 of this lens? Mine needs repair and I'm forced to try and repair it myself seeing as the repairer here in Brisbane Australia is trying to extort people by charging $800 to fix them. I'm aware that it will need calibrating once fixed, but I figure it will be cheaper to calibrate the lens afterwards than paying to have the diaphragm fix. Hopefully that makes sense :)
Hi , thank you ! I have video for 1version in my channel:) yes , you need to adjust afterwards the 2G lens group .
i have a problem with the zoom ring, it gets hard going from 50 to 70, but it gets the job done, the thing is that i dont know if i should take the lens to get fixed or this problem is something that its caused by time/use.
just to have the zoom smooth all the way from 24 to 70 instead of this hard ring, hope i describe it correctly.
ill apreciate your response.
Hi, you should send the lens to get fixed. For sure this is not normal and the main cause is that some of the rollers inside are broken or pieces of them are inside the main barrel. If you like the video, hit LIKE and subscribe to our channel! Thank you!
Do we have any tutorial for canon RF 24-70 mm f2.8 L IS USM lens?
hi I managed to get this all done and put back together ( yay me) but the images are a little soft, any idea what I can tweak to fix this... im happy to give it a try and if all else fails get it sent off :)
HI we can make the axis adjustment for better picture.
@@DIGISERVICEBG how do you do that then ? We need another video :)
Hi,I have this 24-70 II the front part was loose after few years used,is it hard to fix?cos I’ve seen so many people their 24-70 II would happen like that after long time used.
Hi LEO :) The 1G lens group , holden with 1G lens barrel , is connected with 1G rollers , which is plastic material. Depends of the use this rollers should be exchanged. So we can repair the lens and for more info you can send email to service@digi-service.eu. Thank you for subscription ;)
Thank you so much~!@@DIGISERVICEBG

Hi! Great video! Where did you buy the diaphragm unit?
Found one and I did the repair myself thanks to your video!!! Took me close to 7 hours but it’s flawless lol
What’s the blue stuff you put on the screws ?
Richboyrich26 this is loctite 243.
where are you located and what is the cost to replace the diaphragm in the ef 24-70 lens? it seems it is a flaw in the lens, is canon doing a recall on this issue?
Shurla Mcmanus hi we are located in Bulgaria! Send email to service@digi-service.eu with your questions and you will receive the estimation. Thank you!
Please, I live in Brazil, where do I find this piece on the internet to buy? Grateful and thank you for your attention.
Hi , you can find it on Ebay or Aliexpress :)
@@DIGISERVICEBG, Thank you.
Hi, my 24 70 got a weird problem just from. One second to the other: the auto focus works good and fast but when i want to take a picture, the camera reports a lens communication error exept when taking it on 2.8. When i use it in live view mode and try to change the fstop the apperture totaly freaks out (opens and closes randomely)
When i set the fstop to something different then 2.8 and press the DOF button, the resulting brightness in the viewfinder is random on each press... what do i have to search for?
Hi , thank you fot the comment :) You have the same issue like this lens in the video. We can repair it and if you want send email to service@digi-service.eu with more info. If you like the video , hit LIKE and subscribe to our channel. :)
Mine got the exactly same problem, twice. In less than a year, my 24-70 had the same problem, the first Canon fix the problem but the zoom got harder to move but took the pictures very well. Yesterday my lens got the same problem and I think its manufacturer problem, because I got 3 friends that has the same problem. Its very disappointed cause the lens is one of the best you can use, but got that problem
I had to take my aperture part off differently than yours. The white washers that are around the lens and aperture diaphragm has to come out in order for it to come out of the metal tube like casing it was in, your white washers seem to have stayed in
the posts(rollers) need to be out of the metal barrel.
How much it cost to get this new diaphragm unit plus flex cable? Total with parts? I could ship it to you and prepare return shipping label
Hi send email to service@digi-service.eu with your questions and address to return and will give you quotation.
Thank you!
I can probably do it.
HI, yes, you can try :)
I’m joking I can probably take it apart but to put back correctly that’s would take me years.
What kind of tools did you use? Sizes?
Richboyrich26 screwdriver phx0050 tweezers, gloves and cleaner for lenses:)
Do you service to Spain? If yes, how much would it cost for a Canon lens EF 24-70mm f/2.8L I USM? Thanks!!!
Hi, we have only one workshop in Bulgaria. We have a lot of clients from Spain so no worries to send from there . Roughly around 120 euro + shipment to Spain . Regards!
Hello do you know where I could find a trusted source for the aperture diaphragm?
LUMA FILM HI . There is only Canon as trusted. Otherwise you can buy it from eBay and the quality is 95% good :)
@@DIGISERVICEBG where do you buy it from Canon I cant seem to find a link. any sellers on ebay that you can recommend. Thanks again

Another question, after changing the part, is there a risk that the lens will not focus precisely? Or is this legend?
This model don't have this problem . Just 1 st version :)
@@DIGISERVICEBG, Thank you, good to know.
hi, do you see what can cause the error 70 on a 5D MK IV ? the test I made was my Sandisk SD card that have images on it, sandisk told me to format it in my computer and everything's is fine since ... I read that could be the CMB board inside camera , what do you think ?
Hi yes, should be prepared for this kind of repair. It is not so expensive :)
DIGI SERVICE so you think that it eill be the CMB board ? But since i formated the sd card that caused the error 70 nothing happened and when i had the error i put another sd card and everything's was ok, so do you think that it can only be a SD card that have intermittent problem ?
steveb013 yes but hope will be last longer.
DIGI SERVICE i don't understand what you mean !!
@@steveb013 i mean this problem is sloved by now , but you should be prepared for this kind of repair. The error will comes again.
Hi! just replaced my aperture diaphragm and now my focus ring won't focus and my auto focus goes crazy trying to focus on random things. any help please? the focus worked normal before
Check the flex cables, this seems to be GMR (cables from USM).
DIGI SERVICE where exactly is this part? I don’t quite know where to look for this part, what does it look like?
DIGI SERVICE also what am I checking for in the flex cables ? Seems like an easy fix, just not some help explaining how to trouble shoot. Do I need to get another new part ?
I'm having this same problem right now. Did you ever fixed the focus issue?
@@DavidGonzalezVRE I ended up doing it all over and it worked, didn’t have something plugged in all the way

@@DIGISERVICEBG how much is cost ?! The expected price is within or around the range
Aprox 100 Euro without parts
👍
how about f'00' on the camera of this lens?
Broken flex cable or defective diaphragm unit .
already replace with new one and the problem still... is the problem within the board?
No , the problem is in the sensor on the diaphragm unit :)
You skip over parts that are very imporant for putting everything back together
Hi, this video is just to guide, not to teach . You should have idea what is the repair process and what tools you need . For successful repair you should have knowledge in AXIS alignment. Better send the lens to us :)
Hi.... everyone... which may be the reason why the diaphragm got stuck in my lens

Hi, you have marks on the 1G slide assy and also on the main barrel. The installation of the spring is simple :) Just install in place. No marks.
Hi, my copy of this lens makes clicking sound when zooming, and many other users also find this problem, you can search "ef24-70 zoom clicking" on youtube to see. I want to know why does this lens make clicking sound? Thanks!
Hi, the clicking sound comes from one ofthe flex inside(most of the cases diaphragm flex) If you like the video, hit LIKE and subscribe to our channel . Regards!
@@DIGISERVICEBG Thanks for your reply! I want to know if that clicking sound will cause any problems? Why not all this model lens makes clicking sound? Thanks!
@@tongchen2840 Yes, the flex cable is a bad design on these lenses and it will get torn in full shortly after 200-300 zooms. That is a bad sign of near failure. Some lenses will make that sound because of the flex cable fold is torn and touching the inner barrel.
