  • Just admit it; as a watch collector you are quite conservative and always going for the usual designs when buying new watches. Or maybe you are open to new things and like to own different designs.
Nomos Glashütte recently released the new Ahoi 38 which presents this popular Bauhaus design model in new colours and size. In this video we take a closer look at this new exciting German watch.
Watches were loaned out from Nomos Glashütte. The company didn't have any influence on the contents of this review.

I own 2 Nomos watches, the 36mm Orion and the 38mm Club. I agree that Nomos are fantastic watches. Nice review❤

Super looking dial and a nicely finished movement however personally I'm not a fan of the case or lugs.

The "dive watch pattern" came out iteratively and its wrong to attribute it as "Rolex's Design". Different designs were experimented since the 30s and the current paradigm crystalised in the 50s.
Until the rotating bezel proved its popularity with the military, the shapes of dive watches varied significantly ranging from "pillows" and "tanks" to conventional round watches.
Blancpain was the first with the rotating bezel. Zodiac also beat Rolex to the market with a rotating Bezel diver. Militaries and professional divers loved it so that pretty much set the standard across the industry.
Blancpain and Rolex are rightly considered the first movers (with Zodiac pretty much forgotten sadly) but the standardisation wasn't driven by the brands - at the time Rolex was considered an affordable tool watch brand and Blancpain was out of the reach of most consumers. Standardisation was driven by military specifications which resulted in a highly standardised set of requirements which invariable resulted in similar designs.
If you want a variety of designs, look at what are called "skin divers" instead of dive watches - that's a category the Ahoi fits in much better with.

@@TimeAndCrown OH! Well then I have to look for a (dark) navy blue woven strap for it as I will wear mostly with navy suits. Thanks.
