You weren't kidding, that's a hell of a tool to sleep on and I certainly was! Thanks for the professional quality everything, boss. Fantastic work as always.
I use this ALL the time Dom - I work in jingles/advertising. This exact app/process can separate a voice-over from a previously recorded commercial's background music. It's saved me tons of time! :-)
Dom, you're the man ! Thank you so much for your videos, especially the Steinberg/Cubase stuff. Your videos helped me so much in various recording- mixing- and mastering sessions. And the icing on the cake is your very sympathetic way to do this. Your enthusiasm in music and the things that you do an show is contagious. Rock on !!
I used this for a lead vocal that had bleed from the instruments, a problem I had been dealing with since, well, forever. It works really, really well for cleaning up vocals for mixing. Cheers, Dom!

Awesome Sir! I am not a musician, i am just a guy who looks at synthesizers and is just impressed. I bought Cubase after Dr. Mix mentioned that it was his favorite DAW. Thanks, Dom. After buying Cubase 12 Artist I havent bothered looking into Spectral Layers because I was busy exploring other features. Now I know what I missed out on. You definitely put a smile on my face today. As stated before, your videos are such a gift for us. 💖

Very Amazing Dom! Another great video! Another use for this might be to get a karaoke track from an original performance when there is not a released version of it. Hello Good day to you sir please can I ask how to locate the download manger to Install the spectral plugin I try to check all settings I can’t find and yes I have a Cuba’s 12 pro thanks
Hi Dom, How about doing a video about how to assign drumpads to cubase groove agent. I use yamaha DT expess 111 but I can't see any video on steinberg how to assign my pads to Groove agent. please help me with a link or some thing. Glen
Dom, thank you for your videos, they help me a lot. With Cubase Artist, I tried to extract the voice from a musical piece but by selecting the “SpectralLayers” extension, it disappears from the lower window. An idea?
a.m.a.z.i.n.g. this is why I love Cubase! Thanks so much Dom! I wasn't aware of this.. just unbelievable.. BUT are you 100% that remixing the two extracted channels afterwards won't create artifact or phase issue?? is the final re-mix good quality enough to be appropriate for mastering level?
Is there an easy way to get rid of the vocal and lead instrument, etc... - so you can basically use it as a backing track while playing the lead on your keyboard...?
Hey Dom, it’s a pity you didn’t come to Belfast, Northern Ireland, when you were on your UK tour as you have a big following of cubase followers here who would give anything to attend one of your master classes. Maybe we could arrange it for the next time you come to the UK? PS thank you for your wonderful videos. You genuinely fill me full of passion and the desire to successfully use Cubase to its full potential. Take care. Stevie 👌
Hi Stevie! I'd love to come over! It depends when I get invited to :) I am based in London, so SAE was an obvious one so I was invited there :) Hopefully to Belfast soon!

Wow... big smile on my face, thanks Dom! Any idea how is technically possible? How spectralayers can recognize a voice and separate it from the violin which is on the same frequencies.... sounds like AI :)
Hi Dom I know this hasn't got nowt t do with this video but was wondering have you made up your mind on the MacBook M1 is it replacing the pc have you done your trials cheers Phil from Shropshire 👍

Dom, I have Spectralayers 8 and I have just upgraded to Cubase 12. Is there value in loading the Spectralayers 9 included with Cubase 12 or is the feature set in the full version of Spectra8 the same as Cubase 12 Spectra9? Thanks for all you do.
I love Cubase .. But one thing which drives me crazy .. You Can't See the audio waveform DURING manual resizing of audio (manually time-stretching via dragging the audio). Only after you've committed !! Have I gotten this wrong? It's hard to find any information about it. It would make time stretching so much easier if I didn't have to 'guess' before committing - I cannot see the waveform during the stretching. Thanks team
Unfortunally it don't work on my win 10 pc. I Also tryied stand alone version ( i own cubase11 and cubase 12 pro plus spectralayer 9) . It shuts down cubase and requires me to update intel graph-board's gui . i checked out ! videoboard it is up to date. No chance to run spectralayer on my pc at all.
I've been looking for a good tool to remove vocals or talking from background music. Any other tools you'd recommend? I tried RX and it didn't do as good a job as I had hoped.
These tools for separation are very good on simple tracks... I have tried Spectralayer on The Great Gig in the Sky (Pink Floyd) and it was not able to separate voice, piano and guitar cose of very similar frequencies...
hello sir dom can i fully remove vocal from a song with this software. i want software that fully remove vocal and make original instrumental like artist can i do this
I use Spectralayers for this all the time, but I have no idea what one can do with Spectralayers other than this... Maybe an idea for another video Dom? ;-)
Hi Dom! I know how to make 808 glides in Cubase but i don't know how to make the "crazy" glides I'm hearing in some tracks(for example "42 Dugg - Still Catching Cases" at min. 1:11) Am I maybe using wrong 808 samples? Or are they using a different technique? Or are glides in FL Studio better than in Cubase?(some say that)
Portamento glide time needs to sync to The track You just put in The notes after that. Can you recommend some better setting for my layer extractions> I kind of had the feeling this was too good to be true. Let me know. Thanks, Jaymes
Hi Dom, off topic question I see you are on the Mac for this video, did you make a decision on if its the best option? i'm looking at updating my computer and i'm still not sure what to do. I can't find anyone who clearly gives a windows equivilent to the M2 thing.
Hi Mike! That probably deserves a full video but here's the short answer: I still have my PC in another room for my assistant. But I've finally (last week!) switched to Mac. I am currently on an M1 Max Macbook Pro and will probably go for a Mac Studio or Mac Pro (they were just announced). I am not a loyalist when it comes to platforms -I always use a mixture of both, but at the moment, when it comes to a combination of stability/performance/availability and overall experience when using the OS, I am leaning more towards the Mac side. This Macbook blows away my i9 PC by a large margin. So I was shooting myself in the foot by not switching to it. I don't like having a laptop as my main machine though hence Mac Studio/Pro is what I will consider next. Bear in mind, I also do a lot of video work and there, I am 100% in favour of a Mac system- so having one machine that does everything is a big plus for me :)
