It's amazing to see how simple Cubase makes some pretty useful processes! At the same time, it's amazing, many of us tend to miss such things, and your channel is a must-follow for providing such info, and more advanced obviously.
I'm in a covers band and though most of the time chord sheets exist, this makes it easy to sort out what things should be Tips: tune and bounce the track, a lot of 60s stuff is not tuned to 440hz. Get the tempo matched to the project so chord changes fall on the bar (assuming they do!) Strip out the vocals using Spectral Layers - harmony vocals may overcomplicate things. Don't be afraid to simplify chords - Cubase may pick up some melodic fills. A good test is Dr Hook, A Little Bit More where the Internet can't agree what the chords really are.
A few years ago and before I started using a DAW I came across a fantastic bit of software called RiffStation and one of it's functions was to load an MP3 format tune, press the appropriate command, wait a few seconds and upon playing the tune it would tell you what and where the chords were. Not perfect but pretty useful to someone with no musical knowledge (me). A couple of years ago with a new PC and Cubase 12 installed I decided to sort out the email with download link and serial number to reinstall this software. Disappointed big time as the site and product are no longer available. I can't thank you enough for this vlog in letting me know that I had this chord revealing function already there within Cubase 12.
Bro, I am getting older and wiser with you. LOVE YOU! Thank you for all your sharing, videos and efforts for so many years! I know how hard can be sometimes! Amazing producer and full of charisma! A big hug from China Dom!
Thanks, Dom! Im complectely agree! Audio-to-chord is a most favorite new function on 12 cubase for me personally, that motivate me to upgrade from 11, offcorce , not only. Thanks again!
Hi Dom .. I realy don't know how to thank You for all of your content .. I learn something new in every video you make .. and in this video you tought me something I was searching about for very long time .. Ofcourse I have to thank steinberg and cubase makers for every function they put in cubase .. but the big thank is for you for sure ❤
It's a really nice feature if you just want some straight chords for easy mode comping. Let the occ keyboardist or guitarist find those 6'th,13'th and augmented notes later if need be.
Hope you are well. Thanks for all of your video content. I have been a Nuendo user since V1. If you have any input to Steinberg have them add the "Nashville number system" to the chord track display. I chart songs all the time using the number system for my sessions and players from the Chord create function now. Let me know if you ever visit Nashville!!! Eat more Rhinestones
Hi .. I needed to find the chords for the film version of CW McCall's "Convoy," the Mazmazika site came up with the real chords in just a matter of moments .. good video and many thanx :)
I never see issues in using tools to make your life easier. It's not cheating, if we're not in a competition. Furthermore, it allows beginners to get a quick start into music production. My belief is that many older generations worked so hard to achieve the same goals, that they feel like they wasted their time. However, the older generations did not have the tools we have today and instead used the tools available in their generation's prime time.
BOOOOMM !!!! is there any way to give me the next chord if its the same with previous chord?? cubase give me the chords in a raw only if it's not the same . ty Dom very nice video
@DomSigalas This is great! Please can I ask, is there a way to have Cubase analyse an Audio file of eg. a song of just an acoustic guitar and have it tell you, not only the chords, but all the different time signatures, tempos and scales used in the track? That would really help in building up a song with drums and other instruments without having to work out the complex changes in time sigs, tempos and keys.
Awesome Dom. This chord feature is a HUGE help, great work and congratulations! Hey one day if you are talking to Cubase, could you ask them to implement resize of the Marker Track Labels? It would be another great feature to be able to make the markers BIG. I use that track all the time when overdubbing, but the markers are microscopic from the middle of the studio.
I love your video's. I have a question about Helion Sonic. regularly I cannot find the instrument such as Eagle Piano in this case. I use Cubase 13Pro. Where do I have to search for this instrument.
Hello. Super video, very helpful! I noticed that when opening a drop-down menu in Cubase, it is a different color and translucent. How can I do the same? Thank you.
Hi Dom! This functions are not bad but it can’t analyse the chord in different inversion such as C/E.Moreover sometimes it can’t find the chord change position. I think this function can only reduce 50% work load for me. I hope Cubase can improve this function to find out the chord bass such as Dm/G. For people who is perfect pitch this function is just a piece of shit🤣. But for dummy like me it definitely can help a bit👍
Very cool!! Not sure if this is the place to ask ...I have Cubase 12 pro and the Isotope Music Production Suite......is there anything that you consider an essential tool that isn't included? I realize we can never have enough toys ;) just curious if there's a tool or anything you think everyone should have?
Awsome dude, what would you suggest one do if its a guitarr with a capo? or a drop D tuning? Cubase will show you the actual chords but not in the way you play them on a guitar
....on the one hand, this is amazing technology. On the other hand, instead of actually LEARNING music............ Well, you know the rest. Let's just keep dumbing down 'music', and it shows. Just my opinion, nice presentation, thank you. Bill P.
I've had issues with detect chords and extract midi not really extracting much in the past, chord track being quite empty, and extract midi being quite literally all over the place, even when I wrote a simple part using a simple instrument, printed it to audio, then tried to extract the midi back out, the midi wasn't right at all, out of time and incorrect I have a feeling something is a miss in my settings.. Also.. Quick question.. When using chord track, is there a way to shift the octave of the chords?.. Thanks again for all these juicy cubase videos, BBOOOMM
for some reason audio loops when dragged to chord track or right clicking "create chord track" isn't working. It just gives me a small grey line at the bottom of the chord track.
Dom I love cuebase but there isn’t much support out there except people like you. What happened to Steinberg making a new controller, we scratching at old mackie tec. Cc121 not around and ableton just taking over. Everything is set for ableton. Arhhhhh
Can anyone tell me why Dom has way more buttons on each of his tracks than me? My cubase just has Record - Monitor -Effects R - W Dom seems to have 5 more icons per track.
Hey Doms, can you tell me why if you make the chord track a midi track, the lenght and the position of the midi is always wrong? Is there any way to fix this?
I was looking for that feature the other day and tried a few things. I met that screen too and I can confirm it did not work for me on Cubase 11 Pro. You can't drag and drop an audio clip to the chord track. There is a "banned" mouse pointer. The option from the menu does absolutely nothing. there's just an extra dialog box but no apparent effect or sign of any action from the DAW. Weird because outside 1 word difference (symbols instead of events) it seems to be pointing to the same feature. Is there a reason that make it not work. Ultimately I used an external software to do this.
The song sounds so good. Good production.

Write your own music no one want to listen to covers

@5'55'' : F#7/9# oooowww this is funky!!: a dominant with a minor 3rd. So nice!
I use it for getting the chords from a quick guitar chord vamp. Brilliant! Cheers Dave
Beautiful song. Really usefull hint. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic Boom Moment!!! haha. Thank you Dom!!!
Thanks Dom! Your videos are always very good and useful with a lot of detail!!
Thanks, Dom! Im complectely agree! Audio-to-chord is a most favorite new function on 12 cubase for me personally, that motivate me to upgrade from 11, offcorce , not only. Thanks again!
Thank you, Dom. Friendly, but straight to the point.

That's some crazy alchemy going on there!!...... not just for writing, but for learning cover songs when you don't have the charts.
Exactly!

Congratz on the 100K! 👍
Cubase is the best and most complex daw in Midi and Composing - would like to see much more of this stuff in C13 ! ❤
actually everythign is dogshit compared to bitwig which just changed the game the first time in 25 years since ableton did it back then.
Hope you are well. Thanks for all of your video content. I have been a Nuendo user since V1. If you have any input to Steinberg have them add the "Nashville number system" to the chord track display. Cubase is very powerfull. I hope version 13 gets more options for midi drumediting plugin.
MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dude. nice. this is going to be good.
Hi .. I needed to find the chords for the film version of CW McCall's "Convoy," the Mazmazika site came up with the real chords in just a matter of moments .. good video and many thanx :)
fantastic feature, i didnt knew about it yet! thank you so much for all your cubase lessons!! and congrats to your 100k subs, well deserved!

Intresting - Let me try it in my new copy of cubase 13

What kind of sorcery is this? 😂 Thanks for the tip Dom! 💪🏾

Cubase is da bidniss

Dom: I already have the chords, and if you make another video on how to get the midi and then the score? It would be very useful Thank you Regards
And more thing..Do I have the option to print the Chord track?
I’ve done a video about the chord track and how to turn it into midi /score :) just drag the chords into any instrument or midi channel !
@@DomSigalas Ups I cant find it I used the hashtag score.. or midi THanks for your reply master Dom !!!
tip: ...and you can do this with MIDI Events too !
That’s great! Thanks. Now, can cubase convert that chord track into a chart?
Nice! Let's try Cecil Taylor music ;)

Boy, I could do with this on Logic Pro. 50 years ago, I wrote a lot of songs, all recorded, and now I am old, I can't remember them the chords. 😫
From Bangladesh
Damn this is cool. Does studio one have anything similar?
2:29 - Dom - can you tell us what the narrow band at the bottom is for (in this shot wher it says 'D# Anatolian (nat. minor)?
for some reason audio loops when dragged to chord track or right clicking "create chord track" isn't working. It just gives me a small grey line at the bottom of the chord track.

What absorber do you use?
GIK acoustics :)
How you did that zooming video effect on 1:52? What plugin do you use in FCP?
Hi thank you. Which version of cubase is it?
hi bro
how make chord follow track in cubsse 13 ?
i have midi note but dont know how make it follow the chord track ? cubase 13 ?
thanks sir
If this thing can figure out half of the crazy chords in jazz and final fantasy music I am impressed
Can this find the key of a track, kind of like the new waves key detector plugin?
..pls Dom, and how to later convert the chord track to midi track? regards
Simply drag and drop the chords from the chord track onto a MIDI or instrument track.
How can we get cubase to then export with the sound i hear i have it sending to my helion track and i hear it but when i export theres no audio
You have to have that ear training first, so that you can identify (and correct) when Cubase guesses wrong. :)
❤
in my cubase 10.5 there no option or chord event, what to do
Can you do this in logic ?
Can anyone tell me why Dom has way more buttons on each of his tracks than me? My cubase just has
Record - Monitor -Effects
R - W
Dom seems to have 5 more icons per track.
You can customise these! It’s a little cogwheel icon at the bottom of the track list!
Hello bro I'm trying to buy a mac laptop for music production but my mind keeps skipping. What do you advise please?
Thanks , how can i print the chords ?
When you figure out how to figure out 5th chords let me know, cus right now in 'quantizes' all chords to maj or min. Not usable here for me here.
What do you mean by 5th chords? :)
Hey Doms, can you tell me why if you make the chord track a midi track, the lenght and the position of the midi is always wrong? Is there any way to fix this?
also cant drag onto chord track
Is this working on cubase 10.5 ?
I have cubase 10.5 and it doesn't work for me

That was introduced in Cubase 12 :) that’s the reason why.
