That's brilliant, I understand now. As an older fellow, the Cubase manual alone is a bit difficult to grasp. If it doesn't over burden your 'Yoke', the advanced Chord Pad features video tutorial you mentioned, would really give a complete understanding. Hopefully Cubase will recognise the great benefit you give them.. Many thanks
Very helpful video - I use the chord pads quite often when composing or building up a scratch track to serve as a basis for a more complete recording. I have the feeling I'm leaving lots of functionality on the table though - I for one would love to see the "advanced" video you talked about possibly making in the future.
Good afternoon. This was a very interesting video on the Chord Pads. I enjoyed it very much. I do hope that you will make a more advanced video on the chord pads. But, until then I am going to work on the information that you have already given us today. Thank you for sharing your talents with us today. I wish you continued success with all of your future videos and endeavors. I also wish you continued success financially as well. Thank you again for making this video. Your efforts are helping us beginners tremendously. Have a wonderful day and week.
I bought a new midi keyboard, oxygen49mkV, it gives me the same issue. I press the key assigned for the chord in chord pad and I only get one note, not a chord.
Wow, this video was incredibly helpful in understanding how to use chord pads, something I was previously unaware of. I'm definitely interested in learning about the advanced features. Also, I've subscribed to your channel - you've earned it. Thanks! Have a Blessed day!
Good helpful video. I don't see the option to set a midi track to follow the Chord Track in Cubase 13. It used to be under the Inspector colum on the left with a chord button, but now the follow chord button is not there in Cubase 13. Would you please reply or please create a short song with different kinds of midi tracks and having all those midi, vst instrument tracks, audio loop track to follow the chord track? Thanks.
Hi, Thanks for all the videos you have put up for all to watch you have helped me out the last 2 weeks since I've got Cubase for the first time! I'm sorry if you have covered this in this tutorial I may be going crazy but can you change the octave of the chords? Is it the way you show with the little arrows that point up and down in the (higher lower key) part of you tutorial?
Yes that changes the voicings of the chord. But if you have chords in midi already (so not on chord pads) you can checkout this video on how to manipulate those more easily then moving individual notes: ruclips.net/video/NI6egErE20A/видео.html
Thanks for your reply 👍 I was kind of hoping to change the octave up while playing the chords while in the pad mode. But as you say the voicing changes. I will check out the video you sent me. Thanks again.👍
Thank you for another great Cubase vid on Lanewood Studios! 😊 Also - can you explain please if Cubase 13 Chord Pads would be helpful for someone with good-to-very-good keyboard skills? Thank you!
You're welcome! It's hard for me to say as it's particularly helpful to me to quickly play chords for VST instruments when I cannot grab them on a keyboard so easily. Maybe give it a try and see if it adds something for you as well?
Great video! Is there a way to "lock" the key in chord pad? When i'm demoing different chord pad settings, it changes the root key as I scroll. If my song is in Fminor, for example, i want the chord pads to stay in F minor as i flip through the different settings.
when I press the right key on my midi contoller it works, but, it plays the note I'm hitting which doesn't belong to the chord.. is that a midi controller issue?
Is there a way to make sure that when I drag and drop a midi event onto the chord track, or when I directly take chords from the chord pads to create a chord track, the chords remain exactly the same without changing anything? Usually, the chord track does not give me the same chords that I provided it. Also, when I drag them from the chord track to a midi channel, they are not the same.
I don't think so. Please check my video on the chord track om how to influence how the chords are played on the chord track, but I don't think you can retain the exact voicing that you dragged in. if that is what you want, just drag the chord pad to a midi track instead. After you have your midi you can drag the midi to the chord track to still get chord symbols based o the midi.
Thanks for your overview really helped as new to Cubase! Can I ask is there away of having the chords and the single keys on the keyboard? So that I could play the chords with just pushing 1 key while being able to play single keys at the same time. TIA
Yes I noticed that too. They seem to be gone. You can easily recreate them of course and then get them in all keys by switching the root in the chord pads section.
is it possible that cubase could tell us how to land on key we want ? I mean we know that we want to land on some specific key, can cubase can tell us how do we get there from the key we are in? Im sorry for my english i know it isnt pefect :)
Chord pads in Cubase are useless for me. I entered chords from a MIDI keyboard. Cubase keeps changing voicing randomly even when adaptive voicing is disabled. When you move a pad, the voicing always changes. If you change the instrument, the voicing changes again. Undo also doesn't work. Logic Pro is so much better. First of all the chord plugin in Logic is very simple and intuitive. I can easily assign different voicings to different keys and Logic doesn't change anything.
Sure but I’m a guitar player and not a keyboard player. And it takes a lot of time to learn to play every instrument proficiently. So this is an alternative for that which I’ve found to work quite well.
@@LanewoodStudios Some gifts take more than they give. When we give God's gifts the light, they will bloom beyond the bounds of any computer's Artificial Imagination. That will never change. On the other hand, this might help some people bung out a few chords if they're in a hurry and they ask the rentor nicely.
HI I have 2 problem: I can't set up step-by-step data entry, in settings it is flagged but it doesn't light up. Also, why do I also hear the sound of the Vst note when I press the chord pad key on the keyboard? I should just hear the chord. Thank you
Do you use the chord pads already? If not you may be missing out!
Thanks - very helpful overview! Could you go over the pattern function in chord pads next, please?
That would be nice the advanced video. I’ll put it on the list 😁.
Great video, all the info you need without the hype. The chord pads are one of my favorite futures in Cubase!
Thanks, glad to hear!
