    Very informative video, thank you! I didn't know that even half of these features existed...
    17:20 The grid layout is for keyboard controllers with physical pads. I have a 4×4 array of rubbery pads on my main controller, mapped to notes starting with C−2 by default, 2 octaves below C0, i.e. outside of both the musically useful and keyboard-accessible range (there are 128 MIDI note codes per channel, but at most 88 keys on keyboards; mine is 61). They're convenient for both patterns or chords and for percussion.

    Excellent, many thanks. One of my interests is creating Yamaha Style Files (Auto accompaniment) to upload to my older digital piano, in order to have a stimulating backing track that follows me whilst i learn a new song etc. I can only upload midi, so the advanced features of Cubase are useful to extract midi from audio. I see some potential also with the 'Pattern' topic in this video, to be able to use that. To learn some of this complex stuff via video tutorial is far better than just the words in the manual, so thanks again. I often shop at some of those affiliated links in your list, so i'll see if a tip or two can reach you, cheers..

    Great video! I love chord pads. Only trouble is the pattern mode often records muddled notes into the timeline, wish they would fix it!
    One tip, the MIDI thru toggle is great if you want to play live across multiple channels (simikar to an arranger keyboard) as it enables you to play hugher up on the lesd track, but ignores those notes on the chord track.

    Great video as usual. I did go back and watch the 'essentials' video first; highly recommend doing this.
    This is a very deep dive into Chord Pads that you have made easy to navigate.
    But here is a situation that I found myself in before I could even finish watching the first video. I had originally started looking into Chord pads and quickly realized that I needed help...hence, your videos. But when I opened my Cubase to the 'test' project I usually use to follow along, I noticed that the bottom part of the pads, where it shows the voicing of the chords, was not visible. I went to the manual and it says it had something to do with the 'zoom'...???...that didn't help...but I stumbled on it by accident.
    Turns out, when selecting the number of pads to use in keyboard mode, the maximum number of pads that you can use is 15 if you still want to see the voicing line at the bottom. The manual uses 'zoom' to mean the number of pads that will fit in the pads area. But it will show the voicing in any number of pads in the grid mode. Of course, I had messed up my Chord pads enough, on my own previously, to create this problem for myself. So maybe that was a good thing. So I thought I'd add this caveat for anyone who thinks that they need more than 15 pads in the keyboard mode.
    I'll have to watch this video a few times, so thank you for my morning homework. Very well done.

    Hello! Great Videos and I've subscribed. You mention for the patterns in Chord Pad you can add you own MIDI patterns to the chord pad by either dragging them into the "player m ode"settings window, or from the media bay. (this is around 7:30 mark). Seems lots of discussion on the Steinburg forums unresolved about doing this and I sure can't get it to work. I must be really missing something. Any chance you can explain?

    • @LanewoodStudios
      @LanewoodStudios  28 дней назад

      It's in this part of the manual: www.steinberg.help/r/cubase-pro/14.0/en/cubase_nuendo/topics/chord_pads/chord_pads_player_articulations_pattern_r.html
      Which also says:
      "You can drop a MIDI part from the event display onto the Player Mode section of the toolbar. This automatically sets the player mode to Pattern and uses the MIDI part as a pattern."

    Another fantastic video. Thank you. As a Logic Pro X user I am tipping my toes into Cubase. The main reason to do so is the Chord Track and Pads functionality. So far I am enjoying Cubase, but from an intuitive perspective Logic Pro X is easier to understand and use. But ok...all products have a learning curve. It seems however that Sections Option in the Chord Pads is not available in Cubase Essentials. Or am I missing something? Cheers, Hendrik

    Is the only way to program chord pads individually, or is there a way to load diatonic chords as a group?

    • @LanewoodStudios
      @LanewoodStudios  10 месяцев назад +1

      You can use the presets to load all chord pads at once. There used to be presets to load the diatonic chords for all kinds of scales but I think they have been removed in Cubase 13, not sure why.
      But it's easy to make your own preset of course, that you can then re-use for other keys.

    Do you know if there is a way to play chords using the pad (Routed to UJAM virtual guitarist) but restrict to C2-F5? Anything outside this range will trigger other effects (Styles and Phrases) offered by virtual guitarist - assigned to C0-B2. (I know I can transpose the resulting midi specifying lowest and highest note - but still.. :-) )

    Да, Cubase 13 стал намного лучше для вхождения в музыку новичкам. Стало много больше подсказок, примеров и прочих удобств.
    Может быть вы расскажете - можно-ли в Piano Roll вывести на клавиши названия нот? В символах Do, Re, Mi - я учился и их запомнил, а символы С, А, D - не могу запомнить... Иногда мне приходиться смотреть в подсказки...
    Yes, Cubase 13 has become much better for beginners getting into music. There are a lot more tips, examples and other conveniences.

    • @LanewoodStudios
      @LanewoodStudios  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes it’s the most advanced part of it all. I guess it is useful if you want to manually play the separate notes of the chords but can’t easily find the ‘real’ notes on the keyboard because you’re not a keyboard player.

    • @rbingraham
      @rbingraham 10 месяцев назад +1

      I think it's a pretty simple concept in execution, but they gave it a terrible name and the description in the manual is just as uninformative. A better name would be to just call it, Note Players. So if you want to play individual notes that make up the selected chord pad. To me it's mostly useful if you want to create an arpeggio or ostinato and you would like to play it in yourself in real time or using Step Record mode. I would always use the later as I'm not a good enough player to do the former. Hope that helps a bit.

    • @LanewoodStudios
      @LanewoodStudios  10 месяцев назад

      @rbingraham yes the name is quite confusing. And great explanation and way of using it 👍.
