Crossville TN here, and Thank You so much for your help with this. I was trying to do this without going through the battery compartment and found it very hard.
Thanks to You, even though my lower belt looked good, I am going to replace it anyway. The top belt broke and She would not move.

This guys is the man. First how to video on something I’ve never rebuilt that went almost only once through without rewinding and yelling “not on my mower it don’t”. I have a different model but seems like they are assembled the exact same way. Thanks for the how to. Saved me 500$ in labor at the SER shop.

I am a 50 year old woman and because of your video I found the confidence in myself to attempt this. Let’s just say it ate my lunch. The old upper drive belt popped. And it was stuck on the pulley after listening better to your video. I realized I needed to put the parking brake on and then that pulley got loose and I got the belt right off. That was only after I pulled on it and pulled and pulled for about 30 minutes. If only I would’ve listened a little better. I didn’t know if I was gonna have the strength to crack the nut on the pulley but because of your screwdriver trick, I managed to do it. This feels fantastic knowing I didn’t have to get my 69-year-old father over here to help me do this.

Hi Taryl, I have a 2007 Troy-bilt Pony Model 13AN77TG766 and I followed your video to change the upper and lower drive belt and took it for a test drive. When the parking brake was engaged I moved the transmission from neutral to forward and my mower started moving forward as if it was in 7th gear (almost did a backflip lol). So I put it back into neutral and cut the engine and followed your brakes video and cleaned and adjusted the brakes. Afterwards the parking brake worked correctly and the brakes also worked correctly. I took it for another test drive and again after moving the transmission into forward it was moving forward with the parking brake engaged. So I thought I did something wrong and took everything back apart and this time took the variable speed pully out to inspect it along with the bearings. The bearings needed to be changed so I did that and once again put everything back together and took it for another test drive. Long story short I am still having the same issue when putting the mower into forward or reverse when the parking brake is engaged it is moving and seems to be in the 7th gear. Not sure what to do at this point. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Really enjoy your videos.

Just replaced these belts on my neighbor's Troy-Bilt Pony. That variable speed pulley and two belt system has to be the goofiest set up ever devised to run a mower! Straight out of the Rube Goldberg School of Mechanical Engineering. I'm glad I've got an AYP hydro drive machine. Couldn't have done it without this video though. THANKS!

Melbourne Australia here: Thanks Taryl, you put a lot of work into these videos and it's really much appreciated. The knowledge on how to do this stuff is generally found by trial and error, you save us all a bunch of time. These mower manufacturer bastards could maybe look into how their Frankenstein creations are maintained once in a while - seems to be a forgotten part of the design process...

I will never buy another Troybilt again in my life if I have anything to say about it. I did just put a new $21 carb from eBay on it and now it starts easy and idles. Hasn't idled in the 5 yrs. I've owned the thing. It sounded so smooth my neighbor came over and commented on how smooth it sounds!!!???

It was the parking brake releasing the tension that got me. Access to belts on riding mowers is way way way more difficult than my walk-behind Lesco mowers. I'm not used to all the extra steps for what is such an easy swap on a walk-behind. You did a great job of explaining the steps and tricks of your trade! Thanks

Replaced my belts on my " Troy Built ", MTD last year, and I would rather been in a Bar Fight and lost, then to go through
that again. Apparently mine is a older model, it has a Go Petal, rather then a 1-7 speed control. And you have to Pawn your first born to buy the belts, but then I did buy factory belts.
Hope you made Choker eat the rest of that Salsa, serves him right. He seems to look a little like Slippers....But that could not be slippers, Hes a nice guy, weird but nice. Oscar Material fur shure.

I have a hint for all on here. My buddy tears apart microwave ovens for the copper and other metals. He gives me the magnets sometimes. They are 3 to 4 inches across something like a speaker magnet.
Ok when you undo your pins on the deck the arm almost always falls down and the deck is hard to slide out cause they get in the way.
Put a magnet on the frame and put the arm on the magnet Voila.... third hand. Do both sides and you don't have to call Hunny outside to help you.
I also put a mag on the decks of mowers to hold the pins and bolts. Small sockets won't roll around and fall on the ground either !!!!
Hope this helps ~!~! From a very wet Cajun Country Yep we are still flooded here !!!!

I will mention, although you being the more experienced mechanic versus myself, that the 35" belt underneath the seat, that's the only riding lawn mower I've ever seen that there were bolts to hook the spring on to, as shown extremely briefly around 18:40. I recently undertook this job, and on my tractor, there was a hole in the frame that the spring went through as well as a hole on the bracket that the pulley was bolted to. Just a mention, those bolts might not be OEM.

dont know if you still have that mower, but i am having trouble with mine. it is the same as the one you have, my problem is . . . the fuse box.
one wire goes into the harness, the other is loose and i do not know where it was attached to.
do a video of where the wires go, especially the loose one.
plz do not make the vid short.
    <
    <
mower has no juice at the ignition switch because of that wire.
    thank you .
    [p.s.
yes i checked the solenoid it works like it should [ 2 pole with 2 spades ] .
checked both deadman switches [ left brake press and the PTO engagement on the right, both work as it should ]
    battery is very good . . . 12.47 V
ignition switch is good eventho i purchased a new one . . . . same issue with the new one .
that is when i saw the problem . . .the fuse wire .
i like your videos , and you and your team do not disappoint on humor , experience and know how .
i subbed and also clicked the like button for the video .

Hi, Enjoyed your video on changing out the belts on a Troy-bilt. I have a Huskee, model 13WV771S031. (looks very similar to the machine you were working on). It cranks great, mows great on low speed, but when I increase the speed above 5, it starts chocking down. I cleaned out gas tank, changed fuel line and fuel filter and Had carburetor "rebuilt". I had to replace one spindle and two brake assemblies on deck. Will also replace all belts. Before I put everything back together, can you tell me if there is anything else I need to check (maybe switches) that might be causing it to chock down when the blades are engaged and on higher than 5 speed? (BTW, I can run the mower on high speed without the blades engaged and it runs great). Thank you for any suggestions and keep posting the videos. Janis
