I go through story mode. I'm not too sure what's going on but its probably my least favourite of the DBZ fighters I've played. -

The first real FTG style BDZ game released on console, still remember all the kids in Asia went nuts when it first came out.
We used to pay to play at the electronic stores in Southeast Asia to play this game
In the US people were forced to break the law and play on emulator due to the regional barrier.

One of my favorite Dragon Ball Z games and Super Famicom games. Amazing music in this game as well. The sequel would be even better with graphics and good music too.
It was here where Kenji Yamamoto, who had been arranging music for the DBZ anime for four years, moved on to composing for the video games. But decades later, people began to notice how blatantly identical his music was to other pre-existing ones. Toei began to notice, too, and on March 9, 2011, he got the boot. Yet Koji Kondo based a lot of his Mario/Zelda works on other compositions (the underground theme from Mario is very blatant), and he still has a job at Nintendo. Apparently, Japanese composers thrive on copycats, but Yamamoto was singled-out.
Yeah like for a start, the intro as well as choose your fighter/scroll theme musics were based off Super Play Action Football when you run plays... Take a good listen to both songs and tell me they don't sound the same just with different instruments (sound fonts?)
ALSO: remember that one time when Kondo based the Zelda theme off some work that was like a few days away from being no longer copyrighted and he still had to change it up anyway?
There is a major difference between sampling and plagiarizing music. Taking a bit of a melody and transforming it into a different song is not plagiarism. Sonic 1 Final Zone samples the guitar intro of Planet Earth by Duran Duran. Yuzoboy made an entire video showing where Yuzo Koshiro got his inspirations from. The rap/hip-hop industry THRIVES on sampling. What Yamamoto did was NOT sampling. Blurred Lines is a rather popular example of plagiarism.

Damn I had this game, my late dad bought it at a garage sale I loved it but had no idea how to perform danger moves or how to dodge the ki blasts, Android 18 handed my ass to me every time.
Yeah, 18 is so strong.

Lol 17 minutes yup thats about how long I was entertained by this compared to SF2 Turbo. This is what we were all ridiculously happy to play at the time, but would have also been happy with Vegeta coming to our house and ripping our arms off.

Omg I remember I played Super Butouden and Super Butouden 2 on emulator on my PC..was almost impossible to find any game for PC at the time..have you seen MUGEN guys?

One of the biggest disappointments in my life was firing up an emulator back in 1999 and discovering that all the DBZ games that magazines and websites raved about almost unilaterally sucked ass.

Definitely not something I'd play for hours. Maybe just a half hour. I'm not good at consistently executing quarter-circle moves, let alone half-circle moves. Even if my button mashing is successful half the time, I'm out of range of my opponent once I execute it.

I had the third Super Butouden cartridge (I bought it used, and the previous owner had cut slots into the cart itself so it would fit into an American SNES). I loved that game. It's not the same on an emulator.
I remember paying for this game in installments from a local importer back in 1993. I was so excited to finally bring it home, and played the heck out of it! Sequel was better overall, but the music, voice samples, and animation took a hit.

I remember discovering this game as a kid via some random ROM site and giving it a try. I played the French ROM because I could kind of tell what some of the words were, vs Japanese where I had absolutely no idea.
You don't need to know the language to enjoy this masterpiece. I always had the japanese version on my PC.
I never knew there were DBZ games on the SNES. Too bad they were only released on the Japanese Super Famicom...
Some games were released in France, but the reason they weren't released in English was because it was never dubbed back then. Were DBZ actually localized back then, then it'd be likely we would have gotten them as well.
DBZ games date back to the NES.
That really doesn't address anything here, but I suppose it's fine for people who didn't know.
@@StreetwizeJJ2 The games were also released in Spain and the reason why these games got localized in Spain and France were because of DBZ's massive popularity (especially in France) in those countries at the time

Wow I remember playing this game in a fake console in the 90s, those that had like 1000 copies of the same games... My parents couldn't afford a NES but I had no idea anyways :)

I played 2 and 3. On 2, when Gokou is flying towards the tower, there's a sequential secret code you have to press to unlock Broly. I still remember it: up, x, down, b, L, y, R, A

I wish these games were as good as they seemed when I was young. All of them, including the saturn and psx sequels, were just a bit too clunky, but each installment had advantages and disadvantages from the rest. I was hoping to find that Extreme Butoden would be a redemption but it's just dbfz lite.
I remember being so obsessed with playing this, I can't believe it was 30 years ago.... And when the one on Sega Saturn came out it was like the most futuristic game ever lol. Good memories

まあ北米は悟空の田舎訛りを標準語にしてイメージ大幅改竄するとか、魔貫光殺砲がスペシャルビームキャノンファイアになるとか、
悟空の父親が科学者というスーパーマンの丸パクリ設定にされたり、
超サイヤ人に覚醒した悟空が唐突に演説を開始するとか(「俺は宇宙の希望、善き者の味方にして悪しき者の悪夢」……)
そもそも市場として特殊すぎるししゃあないのかもしれんが……

The developers of the original Super Butōden game should've just focused on the Raditz & Vegeta Sagas first with 12 playable Z-Fighters:
Son Goku, Piccolo, Son Gohan, Krillin, Vegeta, Nappa, Raditz, Tien Shinhan, Chiaotzu, Yamcha, Yajirobe, and Saibamen.
And also save the later characters and later sagas for a Super Butōden 2, 3, 4, etc.
My friends loved this game. But every time I play, I could only shoot standard fireballs. I'd ask where the manual/guide is, and they'd say they lost it. and they still played like pros.
If I recall correctly there's a moves list if you pause, that may be why.

I wish that the US got these legendary DBZ fighters instead the US got Ramma 1/2 Hard Battle , I love Ramma 1/2 but I love DBZ more
If it wasn't for this game we wouldn't have DB FighterZ, so have a little respect if this game fails on being perfect.

Hate to say it but that was played the wrong way there’s a secret ending
Some people submitting to World of Longplays are known for being half-assed while others are thorough. I remember one video of Atari Pitfall where the player simply kept going right without doing any of the tricks (which was later replaced with a proper playthrough), and one video was 1-2 hours long playing through SF2 with every character.

Because dbz didn’t air in the US until like 96 and wasn’t really popular till like 99ish. Game came out 93.

You can unlock him and Super Perfect Cell with a code. Not sure what code it is. This game was in development just after Cell announced the Cell Games in the Manga, and before the Anime version began airing.
