Dragon Ball Z: Idainaru Dragon Ball Densetsu (PS1) - 100 Score/Z-Rank Longplay
- Came into this game, thinking I could just bulldoze it. Unluckily(?), me being able to read VERY VERY basic Katakana, there was a Z-Rank. FAQ be saying things about 100 points, so...I decided to go for 100 Z-Rank for all episodes. It's pretty much following the manga scenes. We ALL know Krillin beat up Frieza in the Freezer Saga and Goku never went Super Saiyajin. ALL CANON!
When I was a kid, 2nd grade elementary school, I was waiting for my turn to play this game at my friends house. Before I got to play, my mom came to pick me up. I didnt want to go home without playing so I cried a lot. My mom and my friend let me play a round before going home. Nostalgic memories. I didnt even know the title of the game back then.
What year was that?
I also played this game at my friend house, and never had a chance to play it again, ever.
@@vageofficialnow you can play on ps1 emulator
@@vageofficial lo
give back my backstory please...
It's a shame that there are no games with these mechanics so innovative for their time, think about it for a moment, this game is from the era of Playstation 1, 1996, a 3v3 fighting game where the characters fight simultaneously, it still amazes me today to see something like this for that time, it is exciting to be playing and see in the background another 4 players fight, I think the closest thing to this was Super Smash Brothers from n64 (and we know how good that franchise has been for now).
Until budokai arrived there were no dragon ball games as good as this, yes, this game is not perfect, if you hold X all the time there is literally no way to lose in a 1v1, and there is no gameplay difference, all the characters are played the same, the difference is the sprites, the size of the sprites that affect the hitboxes, and the special by winning the power battle balance.
Even so, the amount of fun I have with this game is absurd, I have always imagined how it would be a review of these mechanics in today's video game systems, how it will be to take these ideas and polish them, how cool would the multiplayer be, get more players? 6v6 team battle?
It would be great if it could expand the movements, the specials and the attacks, be able to break defenses or add evasion mechanics, add better diverse and destructible battlefield, add new ways to move in the battlefield, make new combos, and holy shit! I keep thinking about the endless possibilities!.
If no videogame company does something about it, in the next few years I will do videogame design courses, I will use a simple but efficient graphic engine that can handle 2d sprites (I'm an artist so I could draw my own sprites), and 3D elements, and make a remake of this jewel.
i'll be looking forward for that :3
Me too
Do it please!
Disagree
It’s been a year good man. Any updates??
Omg man I remember playing this being a child, glad to find a video featuring the whole game
I like that this game doesn't use a typical health system. It's great cause it gives a more push and pull feel. It's so sad that despite how popular the series is that this game pretty much faded into obscurity despite it being one of the best games in the franchise easily in the top five.
Only issue is, the only way to deal damage if not going about the game caring about the points, is to see the same super attack animations over and over again. And they all took forever.
Still one of my favorite DBZ games, but that particular part was a problem for me, even back then.
This game is and was pretty mid back in it's day. It wasn't a game changer. It was a repetitive slug fest. No more. No less.
@@bradydavis5791i disagree, this game was more cinematic and DBZ like than any other game at the time. There's a sense of movement and scale that isn't there on UB22, Final Bout, etc. Final Bout particularly had terrible input lag that made the game a chore to play, and Legends is fluid af in comparison

Game was to short 😅
Back then this type of games was like playing and watching your anime
Oh boy it was, back then I used to play this one a lot on Ps1, my next anime game was Naruto Ultimate Ninja Impact on Psp, remember that both this games introduced me to those animes, that I still love to this day
Had a chipped PS1 and a copy of this exact game in South Africa. we literally took time to cram the Japanese menu in order to enjoy this classic in Soweto. thanks for the throw back
I imported Dragon Ball GT Final Bout in 8th grade (1999) and my friends and I thought it was so amazing to finally have a Dragon Ball game to play! Then I got this for Christmas that year and holy hell..... I was blown away. To me, it really felt like I was playing the show! I had no walk-through or anything but I tried to play the game story as close to the show as I could.
It's too bad that of the 2 PS1 games they brought to the US, this wasn't one of them as I personally think it was the best!
Awsome👍 I did the same thing in 8th grade, but in 1997. For Christmas of 97 my Grandma bought me a PlayStation one that played both U.S and Japanese games without an emulator (Electronic Gaming Monthly😁.) She also bought me Dragonball Final Bout and Ultimate Battle 22 (both imports) and they were my first Dragonball games and they was GREAT! No guide books either, just the instruction book they came with. In Spring of 1999 she bought me Legend and I loved the hell out of that game. It was so cool showing my friends Ultimate Battle 22 and Legend since you couldn't buy them in the U.S. I was the cool kid at school💯
2D game + 3d Game = perfection
just love it
Back in the day, my brother purchased a modchip that plugged back into the service port of his Playstation just so he could play this.
played a lot this game back then, love the combo they had. thank u for upload, so nostalgic
I was in high school when this came out. Played nonstop for years. It is my number one favorite back in that era of Dragon Ball games. Amount of characters available was super solid. Felt like I was watching an anime while playing. Would love to see a remake with today's graphics.
Bons tempos!
Eu tbm curto demais, me identifiquei com a jogabilidade desse.
I remember modding my PS1 as a kid and importing this game, I felt like a hacker even though I remember all I did was insert some sticker into the PS1 and use a disc before inserting this game.
It was before we had the modern DBZ games, so the pace of this game felt like the show and I was in heaven playing it. Little things like purposely letting Krillin die to trigger the SSJ transformation were awesome.
Are you sure about the "sticker" part? I had a similar device for imported games but it was a spring that held the lid of the console open/held the button down so it thought the lid was shut
Finally found it! Omg the nostalgia hit hard with this one
Went down a retro-gaming rabbit hole and saw a clip of this game. Looks sick! Thanks for the gameplay 😀
It was so hard to me to understand what I was doing, but when I got it, I enjoyed it so much.
dude, a friend of mine landed me this game when I was like 9 and it was systematically bugging during the Namek ark, i never went against freeza. I loved it and was so frustrated at the same time haha, your video bring back a lot of memories
I remember in 2001, I modded my PS1 to be able to play this game. I was the only one in my town to have it. I had to special order it and affix a spring to the console to keep the disc spinning. This game was way ahead of its time
best dragon ball game in history . it deserves a remajke or a remaster
Back when i was a kid, if i couldnt beat a level i would just press select and let the cpu battle for me xD
Epilepsy warning at Cell's special, lol.
Level intros with that music, illustrations and narration are a thing of beauty.
Wow this game takes me back. I didn't know what they were saying since it was in Japanese, but i figured out that all you needed to do was spam heavy attacks till you filled the bar at the bottom. Glad i found this video.
Loved this game. Remember the androids with their infinite ki were a pain in the ass.

This game is a classic. Thx for the awesome gameplay!
Been looking for this. This is the first DBZ that is like the new game Kakarot. You play through the story battling infamous DBZ characters that we all love. Didnt know theres an EU version. Thought it was only released on Japanese version.
The PlayStation version was only released in Japan. It's the Sega Saturn version the one which was released in Japan and also in Europe.
this was the fastet good anime fighting game for this time !
Havnt played this since i was 8 and i still remember the music... What XD
Great Longplay and marvellous video quality .
Thank you for uploading it
I was doing something funny and sad in the same time 😁
I finished this game maybe 20 times? or more ...
why? because when you finish it you unlock things I don't remember
so when I was a kid, I play whole day to finish it but I don't have a memory card so when I finish in the end of the day I go to sleep and wake next day and try to finish it again so I play with the unlocked things.... I couldn't leave the ps working all night
and I enjoyed doing that 😁
did you know you can heard them talking when you are in the select character screen? especialy when someone die, I remember goku yell " kulilin!" when he dies and gohan be really mad when gotenks lose.
other funny fact, if you use goku when c18 and 17 are here, C16 will come to and if goku leave, him too ^^
bed english, sorry.
yup because original goku had a heart disease in the part that android arc and in reality android 16 was good hearted in nature he did not really participate in this fight innthe anime.
One of my favorite game on ps1
3:40 Saiyan Saga.

Hahaha, I remember being a kid and figuring out how to get the 100 Z-Rank in a couple of chapters, but that was it.
I think there were guides on GameFAQs telling us exactly how to do it, but I opted NOT to check them.
I remember my buddy had the imported version and let me borrow it. I couldnt figure anything out, but was enjoying the crap outta this game. Great memories.
Man, so many memories. I would completely wreck my friends in this game because they didn’t know you could super dash out of combos....I was banned from playing as SS Man and super Buu because I destroyed them the fastest using those characters.......but they just didn’t know how to play the game. Great times!
Who TF is ss man?
I love this game when i was a kid. Specially those finiahers.

Man, this brings back memories. I have no idea how 8 year old me ever completed this game with the Japanese. I thought I was misremembering the game being in Japanese
Remember seeing this on a gaming magazine when I was a kid and wanting to play it so much!
Years later I got a pirated copy and… the game was good!
Rest up toriyama!
Oh yeah I remember I was 8 and a shop called Pandora’s Cube opened in White Marsh Mall in MD. I had to put a small chip in the game and use a disk before playing the game. I was so happy just to see they had Final Bout fully in stock so I can finally play the game I had been seeing on the internet. Not sure how I found out but the chip also allowed me to play pirated games and I knew someone making them. I asked for the other two Bragonball titles in one of my orders, this title was so much fun to play through.
1:48:31 Goku and Vegeta's face... that part always makes me extremely nostalgic! with background music... I remember when I was a child... I played too much and now I'm back again! I'm already 32
Haven’t see this game in over 20 years. Still holds up well !
Had this game on ps1 backbin the 90s as a kid. Great era for gaming
Sep 2020 and im just now finding out about this !
It has been nearly 20 years since I played this game. I'm trying to show my son this game. You gotta play this game man!
I loved this game back then better then most of the games that came out til this day
That scoring system where you have to follow the manga/anime events is very interesting.
I remember it was around the year 2000, me and my brother were able to play this back then because the playstation was modded, so we were able to play imports.
Nostalgia pura, melhor Dragon ball do ps1
Dbz ultimate battle 22: let me introduce myslef
Man i use to play more of this game like every day.
Sou o comentário brasileiro que você procura kkkkk
Joguei muito esse game nos anos 90
Eu também 😎
Wow memories I had this game for PlayStation with the Japanese game adaptor Lmaoo aww man this is nostalgic
I remember as a child I wanted a Dragon Ball Z game for PSX at the time. But you could only get it if it was imported. Then you couldn’t even play it if you didn’t have a special disc you put in the psx before you played it or you didn’t have a spring thingy to put where the latch opens the lid. Went through so much waiting from Japan (snail mail), getting disc and setting it up correctly but boy was a so damn happy to play it. I was the only one of all my friends who had a Dragon Ball Z game at that time!!! Miss this game!!! 😅😅😅
5:56 Piccolo flipping Nappa off and 6:02 Nappa flips him off back 🤣🤣
They need another remake of this !
Facts bro
One of the , if not the best, dragon ball games ever
Best Dragon Ball game of all times.
😂
I dont remember this game being this pixelated... in my eyes back then it was like watching anime
I had this game in Japanese with a trick disc. I was the hero and wizard of the neighborhood because I could get it to play and all we had at the time in the USA was the Freiza arc on repeat.
I never knew how to play this game when I was a kid and would just press buttons randomly, but I still had a blast playing this game
this is better than Final Bout
This game came out in May 31, 1996. The internet wasn't even mainstream.
Very very under rated game. This is where it started. Kakarot edition budokai etc the concepts came from this.
Just wanted to know is this game even possible to get anymore and in english? Always had trouble findings out the combos good ones
This and Armored Core 1 up to Last Raven, probably the best and most under rated games of their eras.
Remind me of how i played this Game, i was play this game with all out, never let the opponent to rest from my Connected Combos ever!
GOHAN SSJ2 SAYS: NOGSTIC WORLD DIRECTOR WHAT IS HAPPENING IN MANZANILLO ? HERE I SEE A SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS CARNICAGE, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GO.
I loved this game, wish they did a remake!
I remember finally getting my modded PS1 and was able to play this.
punches and combos felt so smooth and fast in this game.
The fire pro of Dragon ball. Good cpu sims.
I remember by buddy having a modded ps1 and was able to play this game. And I’m glad I got the opportunity. A true hidden gem.
I don't understand a single thing about this game when I first play it on 2003 cause it's in japanese and the game mechanics is a little different compare to other fighting games in ps1 back in the day but I still enjoy the shit out of it. good times
I can't believe I passed this game in full japanese 🤣🤣🤣
This was my favourite Dragonball game when I was a kid aside from Dragonball GT Final Bout
i used to love this game lol
My brother bought me a bootleg of this game since it wasnt available in the US. One of the best games I've played to this date
The batle with Freezer you change the history, first arrive Piccolo, next Vegeta die
Fun fact:
If you include Son Goku in your team against Android 17 and Android 18, Android 16 will come and his AI is abolutely busted. It is almost guaranteed to lose with Android 16 present. Not to mention, his Hell's Flash super move does a lot of damage. If Son Goku leaves, Android 16 will automatically leave as well.
Yo that Nappa art at the beginning is scary af
😂😂😂😂😂It's Those Eyes~!. .Right~?
Yo i got this game, ultimate battle 22, and gt, with a jp to us converter all for about $50 back in 1999. Greatest 50 i ever spent. I had to beg my dad to let me use his credit card lol.
Underrated gem
if you follow the actual events. then krillin is just here for his ass to be whooped.
Cómo flashaba con este juego q nostalgia
I played this game when I was little. I had no clue what I was doing
