To be fair dude I'm fine with 150Mb down with 10Mb up 5G with a good antenna and modem exeeds what I need for my main connection today and what household needs a 20Gbps download and a 10Gbps upload, my only gripe is latencies which will be addressed with the switch to 5G SA.
I totally agree, there is nothing which most people use their connections for which comes close to needing that amount of bandwidth. Streaming 4K video is probably the most taxing activity and that only needs 25Mbs. But most people would never use 5G at home in any case, most will be on fibre and WiFi. Indeed, its becoming more and more challenging to get a decent 5G signal inside building due to the high frequencies 5G uses. So what exactly is the point of such high throughout from 5G? Where are the use cases? Most people do the most taxing activities over WiFi either at home or in the office. When they go out and connect to a cellular network most people barely utilise 5Mbs at any time. For most mobile users, they would much prefer ubiquitous and reliable coverage, signal, and capacity, from their mobile operator than faster speeds in certain places which people wont come close to utilising.
@@Blueeyedboy77 personally I'm using a 5g modem for my home internet because it cheaper that an equivalent wired connection and good enough for me, and if your going to have a standing modem installing an external antenna is not a massive deal. Here where I live they have only sold off the mid band 5G bands so far and it's 5G NSA so it's a mix of 4 and 5G when they sell off the lower and higher bands I expect a move to 5G SA. Which I'm getting 200 - 500Mb down, the upload is a little disappointing at 5 - 20Mb but if I want to improve that I need to install an external antenna, but like I don't upload much stuff so it's a bit of a waste as very good 5G antenna with beam forming costs $800 which would kinda defeat the point of me going for 5G. Using an external antenna for me wouldn't even really effect download speed like during busy times I would get moderately faster speeds because the mast can use the same burst periods to send me more data, but as I said 150Mb is fine for me and I'm getting 200 - 500mb so it's already exceeding my needs.
@@Blueeyedboy77 also there is a point for 5G for mobile even for the average user it can more easily cover high density areas like amusement parks open air festivals stuff like that where 4G would fall on its face completely and a 5G mast can pay for it's self so it's more likely to have a good installation unlike WiFi where it may be very spotty and the security may very well be dog shit because it's been provided free of charge and if it's not I don't want to pay extra to use wifi when I have plenty of 5G data.
