need to get you the new 60v battery and controller tune to really unlock that bike :)..... we will send you one
You got the Luna!
awe yeah!
Cool 😎👍
thx Sebastien
Had the X2 for 8mos. It is the best. Carbon frame and lots of power. With big battery, get 50mi easily. Got the small size to save wt. The medium and large are +60lbs. Got the small down to 53lbs. With mods, tubeless tires, long seat post and extended handle bar stem, the rider can be up to 5'10" ??? Compete with the Specialize crowd, blow them away(on single-track). Their bikes are somewhat lighter so to be competitive, I lighten up the X2.
After riding the bike for a few laps, it is very difficult. The sun was hot and it must have been difficult to film. Still, I laughed a lot watching the video. thank you😁😁😁😁😁😁
It's possible to get a work out even with the electric help!
My fitness hasn't been so great after a few major injuries. Bruised lung being the latest. This may be a good way to help rebuild my cardio by using the assist feature. If I dont touch the throttle it's a workout.
I had the X1 and it was a beast...so much power. Traded it for another mid drive mtb with lower power. Would definitely consider the X2. I wish they made an X "light" with a smaller battery for lighter weight. The Luna X1/X2 is a fantastic value in the emtb space, you really can't come close without spending thousands more on a legacy brand.
The X1 is lighter than the X2 by perhaps 5lb. The X2 comes with a bigger battery and more range/performance which makes it heavier. If the X1 is too heavy for you then the X2 is more wt. My X2 at 52lb is in the wt range of the Specialize bikes so riding with them is a breeze. The X2 will not work for you.
The 'best' e-bike is the one you build for yourself.
I've built a lot of bikes. The fit and finish of this one is way above almost all of them. And the only one that was better than this was $12k by the time it was all done considering labor and materials.
I absolutely whole heartedly agree with you on that.
My ebike that I built in the UK only cost me a tenth of 12k. You don't need snobby parts to make a great ebike.
@@davidhodgson977 that's for sure. It can be done on the cheap yourself, under 1k for a hub motor or bb drive and battery.
But it's amazing that such highly finished purpose built ebikes are available now. The market has come a long way
This is actually just a Dengfu frame with a modified controller and bafang motor. This can easily be done.
If you build this bike for yourself you’ll be extremely lucky to save $500.
For me - I've been attracted to just buying a decent cheap bike and throw a Bafang BBSHD with an eggrider (52V of course)... Haven't pulled the trigger though - too many other priorities (3D printer arrived, and now starting to plan out a home made vacuum forming machine).
Not a bad move for a kit job
How do you like the bike? Any issues with it? Would you buy it again? I am thi king of getting one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Is it a Speed Pedelic? 🙂 Here in Denmark ebikes are only allowed to drive 25km/h. But then Speed Pedelic came and they are allowed to go up to 45 km/h. So I'm considering such an ebike
That's cool that you can peddle it, and it assists you, varying the power by how hard you're pedaling. How much?
4.8k when I got it. They are selling them now for 1k off
First question:
Would it be worth it to make a a motor designed to go in the wheel of an RC car? Similar to an electric bike motor. Obviously not ideal for wet conditions. I really want to build a custom rig with motors in the wheels like the mammuth stealth, but one that doesn’t self-destruct, lol. Is there gimbal or drone motor that would work that already exists? From what I’ve seen for specs on gimbal motors that can’t handle the current it would take to drive a car.
Second question: if/when will you build a 2 in 1 motor ESC?
1st question. It's been done. You need 49 to 1 reduction inside that wheel minimum. Fitting a stout gearbox inside the wheel is your biggest hurdle.
2. We don't discuss future products. But if I was working on anything right now, that would be it 😉
Check out Orbea H10 😉
A surron light bee x fast reliable awsome on trails street mobber.
That’s a electric moped
I have been lusting for one of these since I saw the Dengfu frames first reviewed; then found out Luna sells them for about the same price as you can build one. NO BRAINER, just buy it.
right? you wont be disappointed
Hi , I'm wanting an e bike for my wife and myself but I'm having a hard time finding a good bike for my weight ( 300+ ) & I wanted to know who you would recommend
This would do it easily if you kept to the lower/ slower gears on all climbs. 1st speed is 4mph full tilt, it's got insane torque. You could probably chug along in 3rd or 4th on a pretty insane hill. Just wanna keep the rpms up
You might shred a few rear hub cassette drivers along the way but there are beefier options and you could use this bike to shed weight too.
The Luna Z1 has 160NM of torque. Plenty of power for the big and heavy.
dengfu rulez
they are sold out, any other good budget e bikes out there???
Just wait until they have them in again; it won't take long...
I feel like your in the wrong bigness. Ever thought of opening a dispensary?
If I'm in the wrong business for 18 years then I can't wait to find the right one 😆
I need an electric wheel motor for my wheelbarrow.....
that would be cool
Makita actually makes one!
@@wmmcdowell1 great there goes my invention
Sir that's an electric motorcycle with a crank.
shhhhh....
As an owner and an appreciator of Luna as a company I am gonna have to disagree on "best bike ever". If it was today and I was shopping I'd probably go for a Turbo Levo. You say it costs twice as much, but the lower specced alloy I believe is under 5k these days. And I honestly I'd rather have the alloy Specialized frame. I don't trust the sketchy Chinese Dengfu carbon. And the bike is heavy as fuck so one of the two main benefits of carbon you ain't getting. The Dengfu warranty on the frame is pretty limited and even if you tried to claim in the 1st year I can imagine it being a frustrating process. Major bike companies like Specialized can be trusted to honor their warranty and I think they usually have lifetime on the frame. Also the Dengfu frame has no identifying serial which is a constant worry for me with an expensive bike. Also the design of the battery compartment and cover is defective. Luna does a decent job compensating with strategic foam. But really the design is defective. Also no mounts or reasonable place for a waterball. That's minor but again it just speaks to the frame design feeling very amateurish. I do agree their design for the paint job is pretty slick and I get a lot of compliments. At the end of the day this was a decent value proposition during covid shortages. Now that we are in a bike market crash not so much. I think their chinese suppliers are way over charging them for the less refined (but fun) motor systems from Bafang and frames from Dengfu. If those suppliers ever stop ripping everyone off I think Luna could sell these bikes very competiively. But as it is now its tough to justify. Great company they are awesome to deal with by the way.
Definitely a different market position today. And if I didn't say it might he the best I also wouldn't get awesome recommendations like the levo!
At that price that bike is one hell of a snobby bike.
In my opinion the best bike for oneself is not the bike that you buy from a shop, its the one that you build yourself. Not to say that you couldn't buy the components from a bike shop, just not snobby components.
Oh I'm definitely a bike snob sometimes! Worked in a bike shop and built most of the wheels and bikes I ride on from scratch.
I was considering swapping out the nipples to red 😆
@HolmesHobbies I would rather ride a taty old bike that is safe and goes like a bat out of hell.
Your bikes are safe for sure and great to ride, but I just like old looking things (must be my age)
QUALITY ALWAYS SELLS SO YOU WILL SELL A LOTS OF THEM.
