- Welcome back to Christmas week - with one we have been waiting all month to experience - our very first Christmas Market in Hamburg, Germany.

As we are on a family holiday with Stephens mom & dad, we thought heading out on a Christmas market cruise would be perfect, stopping over in Amsterdam and Hamburg (we were also meant to go to Belgium but the stop was cancelled last minute due to high winds).
Upon arrival in Amsterdam we headed out the city to Zaanse Schans to see the Netherlands countryside, go inside a Windmill, check out the wooden traditional clogs and see the Christmas cheer in the city.
Next day we arrived in Hamburg and were blown away by the German Christmas Markets. We tried vegetarian bratwurst, hot chocolate, beignets and even saw the Christmas parade!

I collect wooden clogs - my great aunts got me a pair when I was a child and they went and visited Holland. I still have those clogs, 20 years later.

I did a winter semester in Germany and that was the best Christmas I’ve ever had. I made it a point to go out everyday to visit all the Christmas markets in Munich before it was time for me to head back home. I walked around the markets alone sometimes, with a Starbucks christmas-specials frappuccino because I got tired of hot drinks 😂 I watched this today just to relive the wonderful moments, though I can’t smell the spices, the sounds and the ambience were very well captured here. So cool to see that finally some people don't only experience southern or middle Germany. The north is so beautiful in it's own way and so many people don't notice us here! Hamburg was an excellent choice to visit!

I thought the same! My husband and I are currently Christmas market hopping in northern Germany and the weather is way warmer than we were expecting! Seems to be more unusual than normal, right?

I'm in southern Germany (near Stuttgart to be exact) - there is no snow anywhere, too 😔😭
I went to Colorado, USA last year for snowboarding. Let me tell you, the rockies 🏔 where packed with snow and the air was so cold it actually hurt my lungs.

Watching this as a german in november 2020 knowing that there will be no christmas markets this year because of covid makes me feel kind of nostalgic. What an awesome experience! I would go broke in the ornament shop. Even though I no longer put up a tree, as all my children have grown and moved away, I still collect handmade ornaments to give my grandbabies once they've grown.
