    I had one requirement when starting out building a home tiki room - it must have a rain storm.
    While it’s not quite the same as actually being in the room, here’s a video of it in action.
    The storm can come randomly or at a press of a button from an iPhone widget.
    The graphics and rendering were created using C++ and Unreal Engine 4. The audio supports Apple Airplay and is mixed in real-time with AHK scripts.
    I wrote an API for the Philips Hue system and UE4, which allows for sending JSON commands the Hue bridge via WiFi for synchronous things like lighting, wind, and aromatics. Although smell-o-vision doesn’t exist yet, the aromatics are from the Magic Candle Company’s Polynesian collection.
    There are other room scenes that I’ll plan on posting.

    Wonderful! Nice transition back from the storm too, not too abrupt.

    WOW, is there a place where you might be sharing your light automation and video setup?

    That is amazing. Now if the skull had eyes that glowed and the tiki carvings moved, enhancements to work on during the next pandemic.!!!

    home goals right here. Slowly putting palm leaf print fabric and all of our tiki mugs in our guest room. Soon, I reckon, a rainstorm may happen in there too.

    As I was watching this video, after the lights went out in the video the lights in my house flickered (there is a real storm outside here) and it startled me haha. Great ambiance!

    This is amazing! I want to do this so badly to my own home bar. I wish there was some off the shelf programs to do this kind of stuff. I’m pretty good with computers but not a programmer. :(

    Very Inspiring ! I love that. As a programmer and a Tiki fan, I'm trying to do the same kind of thing for my Tiki Backyard. Have already written commands to synchronize my govee strip (through their api), but I'm very curious about how you spread aromatics, went to the magic Candle website and didn't found anything. Any suggestion about the gear you use ? thanks

    Fantastic!! You did an amazing job. Was this inspired by the Tonga Room restaurant at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco? That’s immediately what I thought of.

    Very cool ! Where did you get the video porthole ?

    • @crafttiki8165
      @crafttiki8165  3 года назад +2

      The port hole is from India. The surrounding metal was fabricated and the whole piece was then finished to make it cohesive.
      A monitor is embedded into the wall.
      Thanks!
