Hey Syd, Im also 19 and live in State College. I definitely should try the chicken sandwich from Sauly boys, I usually only get the hotdogs there on whichever day of the week its bogo! Damn rent was way cheaper than I was expecting, im in the process of looking for roommates! How did your finals go? Whenever you get a chance stop by the store I work at called Uptown cheapskates! They have affordable lightly own clothing, you can also sell us clothes you don't want anymore, and we can offer you cash or store credit!

Cuz it’s a date and this the price equates the value. Eating Mac n cheese isn’t a date and a snack shouldn’t cost $1.50 when there’s an easy alternative for way cheaper. You can’t get cheap, great quality date food (or rather shouldn’t).
$40 is a lot for a date, at chilis it’s $25 for 2

@@magnusanderson6681 we do when everything is not online. I go to school at a small college and most of the teachers get us to submit things both online and on paper. They don't want to have to read it all on computer screens

I used to put $75 a week into my account bc that was literally all I had to spend that week from my paycheck, and I was really really good about not getting overdraft fees, but one time I had bought a friends entry to something and they were gonna Venmo me bc it was easier, so then I tried to buy a $2 water at the thing and it declined, I was so embarrassed lol

I´m spending about $850 a month, and tuition is free. I live in Europe btw

It’s usually a thing for college parties so when you’re drunk you don’t drop your key or have to carry a purse

I used to attach mine to a hair elastic for parties/nights out if I wasn't bringing a purse, my normal keys were bulky but I would take off just my house key and tie it to my wrist for the night. Less likely to lose it than putting it in my pocket or if I was wearing a dress I didn't have pockets

@@sallys-stories my thought process was so Graham and Jack would be able to edit it themselves, therefore garenteeing the quality, instead of being limited to the small amount of people that edited it well.
Here's a radical idea for saving on the cost of drying - invest in a clothes horse and air dry them. More environmentally friendly and definitely cheaper
English is not my first language so first I imagined an actual horse, an animal that is used to dry clothes on it hahahaha

My jaw dropped at 10:45 . The university I attend does not charge us to wash or dry our clothes it’s free of charge. They even have an app that you can download and it’ll tell you when your clothes are done.

there’s some really good student cards! discover has one that can give you cash back and you get a credit limit of like $500 to start!
So build your credit using unsecured credit lines or get a secured card for a little $ down raising your credit is priceless

Graham, as a 19 college student myself, your videos helped a lot to understand how the best way to use my money, in January 1 I will start a youtube channel on personal finance and your videos have helped me a lot on how to manage my money so, even though I spend a lot of money in college, I still can be financially responsible and even invest long-term. Thank you a lot
An interesting business fact about Kraft mac & cheese: a couple years ago they changed the recipe to remove all the artificial stuff, but didn't tell anyone or market about the change to see if anybody noticed (fearing people "claiming" to know the difference and lose sales)...and nobody did. I love that.

To accurately calculate WEEKLY expenses take your MONTHLY costs and times them by 12 to get your ANNUAL costs.
Then Divide by 52 to get your true WEEKLY costs.

that sounds like dividing your monthly expenses by four but with extra steps
@Tyler Bryson here's an example where this makes a difference Tyler. Let's say an apartment is being advertised at $250 per week. Some people would times that by 4 and conclude that the apartment will cost them $1000 a month.
*The actual cost however is $1083.33 a month ($250 x 52 weeks / 12 months).*
This is a trick that is often used when marketing apartments/rooms for rent as people think the place is cheaper than it actually is 😊

I remember at my former job, when the printer ran out of ink (it was this ultra-basic HP printer) it was actually cheaper to buy a new printer than to refill the old one, which we did.
I used to wear my key on a hair tie on my wrist in college too. It’s so you never forget your key and you don’t have to carry anything

I've found that if you meal prep and know how to utilize dry pantry ingredients and spices you can easily just get produce, proteins, and any specialty ingredients for $10-$12 a week. Investing the time to learn how to cook and buying some good tools has done wonders for my budget!
