As a long time serious traveller, I loved how good your packing was, discussion of layers and weather for Alaska. Those of us watching this much later may miss the time frame of your cruise though and I've watched SO many people not have the light clothing needed for mid summer Alaska Cruises. I have lived most of my life in the area where the return to same port Alaska cruises sail, and have watched people overheat in July and August because it's hotter in Victoria or Skagway then it is in Texas and Louisiana...and we don't have the same air conditioning. Glacier visits are always cold, you're on or near ice, pack accordingly. For your trip in September, I agree on what you packed, that's when I did my Alaska cruise. Anyone travelling June-August though, really check your weather, and take at least one outfit for a warm day. When it's 90 degrees, and all you've got are long sleeves and trousers...and no air conditioning any of the places on shore you're visiting, You'll regret it. I've met the poor souls from Texas in Victoria during a heat wave of 38 Celsius. As compared to the April May we've been having, when all that cold gear has been needed.
Wow that is helpful i am a texan and its 100° super hot here in may and I’m going to Alaska 1 st week of July I am trying to think 40° to 90° And im trying to just pack in a carry on its super challenging! I will be bringing two pairs of light hiking pants great for here in 100° so they should work But i probably can’t fit everything i want to bring.
@@bleumustang6362 you will be fine packing one puffer vest, thermals, gloves and hat- I packed a big puffer jacket and never wore it and I went in October .
Thanks for the video. We just got back 2 weeks ago from 10 day Alaska cruise, we took carry on as well. We found the coldest it was , was 47 one day at the glaciers. The other days were cool, sweatshirt weather only. Gloves only at glacier. Didn't need coats at all, did not rain, perfect weather every day. Was actually warm one day at sea. My advice is don't overpack, alaska is very casual dress , most formal were the formal nights on Princess. The cool weather was great, we are from southern california, so used to the heat. Have fun, you will love it!
We are finding so much freedom when using the carry on route vs checking bags….we are loving it! We are now walking off the cruise ships without the muss and fuss of being in a group, putting our bags out at night and all the concern of bags arriving and waiting for them at the carousel. Freedom is amazing along with travel! Heading back to Alaska next month for a cruise! Thanks Alissa! 😊
TIP: Bring that blanket wrap wherever you watch the glacier tour, great for over your legs! You are amazing at packing!! I need you when I pack for my next cruise. Enjoy!! Alaska is amazing!!!!
Me and my mom went to alaska in june this year! I miss it so much. I've already said I'm going back. We did carry on also! I fit EVERYTHING in my carry on and then carried my iPad and essential camera equipment and all my cords in one tiny camera backpack and that's all I brought. It was so easy.
Our cabin on the Bliss last month didn't have any drawers so our packing cubes served that purpose on the shelves in the closet. I'm glad we took a checked bag, though. It rained nearly every day and was windy so we needed warmer more bulky clothes. And we're not small people so our clothes take up more room. Nice video with great ideas.
Soooo, I thought you guys were absolutely nuts for only bringing carry-on to Alaska. But after watching your Alaska vlog series, this was the best choice ever!!! Your flight issues would have been 1000x worse if you would have checked your luggage. Great call Mrs. Alissa!
Just came back from my cruise to Alaska, it was drizzling at every port, rain jacket and umbrella. It was only cold at glacier bay. I did laundry twice on the boat, the best thing ever. I realized I took too much clothes. Carry on with all my electronic devices, then a 24” suit case. It was the best trip of my life.
Welcome to Seattle where I live. Went on the Alaska cruise on NCL Pearl in 2013 (same itinerary). TIP: be sure to get up at sunrise when you enter Glacier Bay, just beautiful. Last cruise of the season so you should find some bargains. Y'all are going to love it.
Mrs. Alisa you are so efficient! Love your packing cubes tip I bought them for our last cruise from watching your packing video. The packing cubes really help as I am not efficient...Just my jewelry bag is almost the size of your toiletry bag! I could not even fit my gown and cock tail dresses with shoes in a carry on! It was all I could do to down size to only one checked bag with a carry on and small back pack purse! It is my own fault I like to go all out dressing up, it's the only time I get to. Thankfully with our AA card we get one free checked bad per person but you still have to go collect it after you land. Nice your saving having to do that. Good Job! Jason and the boys are lucky you do their packing.
I can't wait to see your footage of your Alaskan cruise, me and my family want to go in 2021. I have packing cubes as well, you were the reason I got them for my cruise I was on. I actually used them to put my daughter's undergarments when I moved get into college last month. They are very handy. Love y'all videos.
We got off the Bliss 2 weeks ago and rain was predicted every day, but never got any. Hot Tubs are like warm tubs, but then you can stay in longer. The hot tub on Deck 19 is great on sea day afternoons. Great whale watching. Have a great cruise. Pool is heated.
We just got off the Bliss in June. It was amazing. So much so that my parents are taking a 21-day on the Bliss in April, and my husband and I will be going back on either the Bliss or a comparable ship at some point.
I’m so excited for this. Bucket list trip for me and I’m anxious to see the vlogs! I am curious on all the clothes you end up using vs the ones you didn’t really need since the weather seems to be unpredictable...Happy Cruising!!
Thanks for the very informative video, for those of us who are also planning an Alaska cruise. Being from Wisconsin, I do think you're overpacking the winter gear. But perhaps, being from the south, you may not be able to tolerate cold as much as we do. A video tip for you though, usually, you want to have the light source behind the camera, NOT behind the talent. So the light will be landing on you, rather than shining into the lens causing it to get darker. Thanks for he vid.
Cant wait to see your vlogs :O)) Just a little comments for your shoes, Being from Canada, i would bring régular tennis closed shoes, not water shoes with holes that let the air passe true! Have a great great trip, lots of fun and no rain :O)
I was looking for this video for our Alaska cruise next year and found you live after boarding on your NCL trip! That was fun to watch. Love you guys. you're so cute together and fun to watch whether traveling or not! Can't wait for you to post about the trip and any new thoughts on things needed for an Alaskan cruice.
Something I like to use to pack my suitcase is ziplock bags you can compress out air plus when dirty clothes at end of cruise makes it nice to separate
I love the cooler weather too Alisa! We are trying the Canada/new England itinerary in Oct. next year Alaska for sure! Looking froward to your Alaska vlogs when you return. Y’all have a wonderful cruise!!
I was there a week or so ago and it was warm. Didn't need coats. People were wearing shorts and t-shirts, some guys with no shirts and lots of people were swimming. I hope it is colder when you get there.
Thanks for the expert advice! We did one checked bag and one backpack, and could have done a carry-on. Didn't wear a lot of the clothes we took because it was warm!
Wow. I’m totally impressed. Can you come and pack our bags for Alaska. Seriously we have been on over 20 cruises but you taught us a few things. Thanks again for another great video
Awesome vlog! I learned to pack concisely when I flew to Israel for two weeks followed by a few days in UK. I had to account for big extremes in weather, but to avoid bringing my entire place, I did utilize a laundromat in London.
this is true and frankly its just the lug to the bag station since porters carry it the rest of the way but it just makes for less to shuttle around if you are flying in etc. We put our two big suitcases and carryons under the bed (great storage opp there)
OMG! You're coming to my city! I always recommend people add a couple nights here in Seattle before going on an Alaska cruise; there's so much fun stuff to do here. You are going to have a blast!
We went to Alaska in 2018 and we love it! One of our excursions was whale watching and we saw the first orcas of the season, it was so much fun, hope you guys the best and enjoy your trip 🛳
I live in North Texas and own maybe 2 long sleeved shirts total. Been to Alaska cruising several times. I do own 2 long sleeved thermal underwear shirts. I prefer to bring these 2 thermal shirts and wear short sleeve shirts over them. It saves on packing space and I don't have to go out and buy a bunch of long sleeved shirts that won't be worn again.
Alisa, as always a wonderful video. Lol -- I'm from up north so you all crack me up with the long johns and all at those temperatures. Be sure to bring a rain gear of some type if rain is in the forecast for every day -- wet and cold is way worse than just cold. You should try out the compression packing cubes for all of your shirts, sweatshirts, etc.
I bought a backpack at Nordstrom Rack. It’s called the carry on backpack. It’s expandable and holds a lot. I love it. I can get so much in and still get it under the seat in front of me
HI Alisa, packing for me is STRESSFUL!!!! Packing and unpacking for what seems like hours...trying to make things fit. In a future video, would you please show how to roll your pants and shirts. I have tried and tried....still takes too much room and plenty of wrinkles. Hope y'all have a safe and wonderful trip.
This is my favorite Alaska packing video I've watched. I've watched this video multiple times trying to get ideas of what I want to bring in May/June. I want that blanket wrap. Lol, it's now on my Christmas list. I love the shirts that have the little holes for your thumbs, I have multiple Cuddle Duds brand. I live in Nebraska, it's cold here, we actually have snow today.
You are the master!!! I'm going to try to do the carry-on only for the group cruise in January but I know I'll have to practice a few times to pack like you 😁
Hi guys....I have a question. More looking for a response than a question! I have a service dog and while thinking about taking a cruise, I was adamant about my dog going with me. Some people say "I wish I could take my dog everywhere I go". My response is always "No you don't!". On further consideration, although Nina has given me my life back, I feel it would be easier on both of us if she spent a week plus without me. Have you seen service dogs on a cruise ship and have you had a chance to speak with the handler? There are handlers that make it look easy...go be hind the scenes!
I hope you do. I primarily know people with seeing eye dogs, so go everywhere with them, but are not always used. There was a cute 'private area' set up for the dog on my cruise, though I don't ever remember even seeing the animal, but I was on a conference as well so see days spent not doing cruise line planned activities much, and on shore, it was also an Alaska, days, completely different type traveller on an Alaska cruise then many seen/read here.
Awesome you guys are going to Alaska! I’m used to the chilly New England weather so I think packing would be a cinch for me! It was 40 degrees this morning and I had jeans and a spirit jersey on and I was good to go! Lol 😂 just one question! Where are you going to put your souvenirs! Alaska has some great stuff! ❤️ you will have the best time looking forward to the videos!
I will be travelling to Alaska nxt year 2.5 weeks then to vancouver and hawaii. From Australia. I will be packing less. Where i live it is always warm. I would rather buy a top over there if i need it.
What size are your carry on suitcases I seen to have a problem packing everything I think we need in ours.? Have a wonderful, safe trip. We loved Alaska and yes you will need rain gear. Enjoy your videos.
You are beyond adorable and your videos are so much fun. I appreciate all your time and efforts to gift us your travel 🧳 wisdom and expertise. Getting excited for our trip in June 2022. Hope you know how much of an inspiration you have been. You make me smile from ear to ear. Keep on doing your wonderful videos and thank you x a trillion. Love from Ferndale, Michigan.
I just got back from Norwegian Encore 7 day (10/6-10/13) and I’m shocked at how little I actually wore of what I packed. I could’ve fit it all into a carry on and 1 backpack . The key is not packing variety, but packing the essentials.
You are a great packer! You got a ton into your soft-shell suitcase. Did you have a weight limit for the carryons? I'll be interested in seeing what you put in your backpack and day bags. Do you allow space for gifts bought on your trip? Thanks for sharing. BTW, your hair looks beautiful. Have fun on your cruise. Alaska is a blast.
We're leaving for our second cruise ever on 10/21 (it's been over 15 years!!). :) Curious regarding packing liquids/makeup. I noticed you didn't have your makeup in your TSA approved ziplock bags. Is it generally okay to just stick makeup items in a makeup bag and not into the clear ziplock bags? Thank you!!!!
Did you actually wear all the bottoms you packed? I only pack 1 pair jeans, one pair capris and one pair of shorts and run a load of laundry if we need to.
cases that you use are very small. guess you prefer carry ons but in oz you can only make them 7kgs or you have to put them with you're normal luggage.. my case for a 7 day cruse is 20kg ,size 28" and i never fold anything cept underwear ad clothes that wont wrinkle.. In making my case bigger i only have a small handbag which you call a purse and the suilcase .. easy peazy :)
Thanks for your videos about packing. I just did my first Caribbean cruise 7 day with a carry on and back pack. I am 64 years old and have had the lost luggage experience as I know you have. I will never travel any other way now. I'm so jealous...I want to go to Alaska now. Thanks Alyssa you do a great job as a mom and as a travel advisor.
I have an Away suitcase, which is similar to your boys' new ones. The side that you put Cameron's pants in is a compression side. After you click the two latches, you can tighten the straps, to squeeze the clothes down.
Hi Alyssa. Those are not really carry on luggage sizes. Have you ever been rejected at the airport? I know that in Europe, those luggages will go straight to the aircraft because they do not allow carry on this big.
Delta Airlines (DL) allows 1 carry-on bag and 1 personal item (purse, briefcase, laptop bag) per passenger fee free. Carry-on should not exceed the following size and weight restrictions: 45 linear inches (22 x 14 x 9 in) or 115 centimeters (56 x 36 x 23 cm) including handles and wheels

Can we see Jason do his packing for a cruise? Bet he won't be as thorough as his cooking demonstrations.😁

I think all of us Louisiana folks are ready for Alaska! Lol
I have dust bags for my suitcases also, they are made by Hefty 🤣
What brand is the long sleeve thermal top?
Can't wait until you get back and let us know what you really needed.

are yall doing the 2 rooms like normal on this trip?
If you're riding the train in skagway when you're in Alaska, the best pictures are when you cross the bridges.

Awesome you guys are going to Alaska! I’m used to the chilly New England weather so I think packing would be a cinch for me! Good idea about the tights. Unfortunately I can’t wear tights or nylons. I bought leggings with fleece lining and wore ski pants over

I love the pop up hamper. Just used for the 1st time last week. My husband always asks, where do I put my dirty clothes. Now he knows!
I’m so glad you like the backpack ❤️Did you get the one with the packing cubes? Or the one without?
I just got back from Norwegian Encore 7 day (10/6-10/13) and I’m shocked at how little I actually wore of what I packed. I could’ve fit it all into a carry on and 1 backpack . The key is not packing variety, but packing the essentials.
Definitely!! The more I travel the more I realize what I truly need and what I don’t. I went to Alaska in July for two weeks in a carry on.
@@EECCTravels I plan to go back to Alaska next June and will be taking a carry on and backpack!

would love to know what you found you needed and what you didn't need for the cruise. We are going in August
I can't I am getting anxiety. I need more room🤣

I only use pressed powder and not liquid foundation so there is no need for me. But if you use liquid it does need to go in the bag for TSA.
@@EECCTravels thanks so much for replying!! :)
Did you travel to Alaska before filming this video?
Great information as always
Did you bring rain wear? What time of year did you go. We are going in july and planning packing. We will have daily laundry service.
Nicely done!
Love all your videos
I would have done vacuumed sealed bags just because I always overpack
Take 2 or 3 fewer shirts. One less pair of pants. Or two yoga and 2 jeans. I am however very impressed!
Definitely should pull out some long sleeves - throw in another t-shirt! She's overpacking!
so do you like the packing cube better than when you just rolled your clothes?
I leave things in my suitcase that I use for cruises. Why should I pack and unpack
great volg thanks girl enjoy your cruise
Thanks for this very informative video! Just 1 note: Promo Code does not work for Go Penguin. Maybe it's outdated.
How heavy are the actual hard shell suitcases? I am always skeptical because I figure they will add weight.
Where can I get that toiletry bag? I have such a hard time finding toiletry bags that are compartmentalized enough for me.
I could easily use a carry-on bag, EXCEPT for the fact that I would want to buy a lot of souvenirs.
Just got back-not that cold!
Hi,
Do you have a link to the toiletry bag you have? I love it!
Yes Alisa prefers the smaller carry on suitcases!!
Learning that trick has helped me fit a few more pieces into my bag.
Thank you!!!
Hmmm, if you do laundry you can cut the amount of clothes in half. I travel for a month with 1 carry-on and personal item.
Who doesn't love Alisa?
Hi Alyssa. Those are not really carry on luggage sizes. Have you ever been rejected at the airport? I know that in Europe, those luggages will go straight to the aircraft because they do not allow carry on this big.
These are carryons in the US. We use them all of the time.
Is there a video for the day packing? You mentioned it but I can't find it
Do you mean when we were coming back home? We did record it a bit but it is just included in one of the last Bliss vlogs, not a separate video.
Alisa, what is the name of those tennis/running/water shoes you packed? They look great for packing instead of regular athletic shoes. Thanks!
They are called aleader shoes. They are absolutely fantastic shoes. I'm so pleased Alisa recommended them.
@@julieparker5029 Thanks, Julie Parker!
