It was Day 2 of the New Years Swell on December 28th, 2023. Most of the spots were totally maxed out along the coastline. This is when the rare and novelty spots start to break. It was time to head up the California Coast to a sandbar would be definitely have some barrels with the pumping WNW swell. The wind was a bit side shore and the waves that were wrapping into the break were anywhere from 4 to 6 foot faces. There was a bit of a crowd looking to score this novelty but still plenty of waves for the regulars who watch this spot and the newbies risking the shallow sand bar. Several notable surfers also showed up such as Ben Gravy, Zeke, and Nick Jiampa.

I grew up just 5 minutes south of this great spot from 1975 to late 90s! When this place comes to life it always amazed me! Kinda reminds me of sandpit!

Yeah it is a real gem when it actually is working and totally worth the drive up the California coast for it. Thankfully between the sand, swell size, and winds all needing to be right it doesn't break that often. Thanks again for watching and taking the time to comment. Got a bunch more videos this week dropping.

Actually, he didn't end up posting really any footage from there. Just wanted to ride it. The real kooks blowing it up are all the people/spectators usually around 50+ of them standing on the shore with their cell phones filming and immediately posting on instagram and geo tagging it. Or the instagram photogs/drone pilots that have nothing to do with surfing and are creating videos for their social media pages and then tagging the other IG pages that blow up trails, beaches, and all the hidden gems.

Yeah Nick Jiampa got that opener which was insane. By the time I got up there after the long drive, it was starting to work. But ultimately the sand was a bit weird this day. It hasnt broke since last year, so the sand really needed to move around more. There were a few other long ones but many were breaking up halfway down the sandbar.

Most everyone knows where it is anyway.

All the more reason to film it in a non descriptive manner. If someone knows where it is, more power to them. If not, then no reason let them know. Plus the danger risk and potential for breaking boards keeps most away.
