  • Some more video of 15th May 1993, featuring everything else that was going on in the Basingstoke area at the same time as the last day of the Thumpers on the Reading line.
    The locations are:
Near Battledown bridge to the west of Worting junction, on Pack Lane
    Basingstoke station
    Bramley station
There was a reasonable mix of old and new:
A class 465 "Networker" on test
    Three class 159s
    Several 4-CIG units
    A single 4-VEP unit
    A class 442
73201 "Broadlands" with the VSOE Pullman stock on a private charter from Southampton Eastern Docks to London Victoria
47711 on Waterloo - Exeter services
    Inter City Cross Country HSTs
    3H unit 1132
A class 60 from the Railfright "Petroleum" pool, possibly 60053 "John Reith" based on the size of the nameplate [thanks Clive!]
47206 from the Railfreight "Distribution" pool working a Waterloo - Exeter train
33046 "Walrus" in CCE "Dutch" livery
