Basingstoke Station on 19th July 1989
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Basingstoke taken on 19/07/1989. Class 50s were mostly all in charge of the "West of England" services from Waterloo - Salisbury and Exeter. Class 47s still in charge of freightliner and Inter-City Cross Country services. Class 73 on the odd Weymouth along with class 33s on other services to salisbury. DEMU's worked the Reading services and also some Portsmouth services also down the WOE line in the peak times. Keep an eye out for the curious UP train that flashes past. ( Departmental No 001) All in all I hope this video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.
