Chineham, Micheldever & Worting Junction (24-03-2011)

We start at Chineham, before moving on to Micheldever. The majority of the video was filmed at Worting Junction, and as well as the usual freight and multiple units we finish off with the Network Rail HST heading to Old Oak Common.

Many thanks for the 'different' views you provided from Worting railway cottages and towards Worting Substation and Battledown Flyover. In particular I found the telephoto views to be really interesting because the perspective was most unusual. It's a really busy junction and I often wonder if the 750V third rail will ever be extended to Salisbury and also Salisbury to Southampton, providing an electrified diversionary route. It's strange to remember that the SR considered a 1500V electrification system to Exeter during the 1930s. The old (now closed) Woking ECR could have controlled substations down to E term and perhaps beyond to Okehampton , Tavistock and Plymouth. Thanks again for your videography. Rob.

Delighted you enoyed the video. I would be surprised if Salisbury was made 750V DC as most electrification programs these days are 25K AC.
