- So after I posted up a video celebrating the news from @Arrow_Video Yesterday regarding their incredible looking Bruce Lee AT Golden Harvest Boxset, I've had a load of messages and comments from folks rather confused about the inclusion of Enter The Dragon on the set.

THANKS FOR WATCHING.
The Criterion disc of EtD contains the original mono track for the extended cut, which features Bruce’s real voice in the extra scene; in the remix track that scene is dubbed by someone else. No other release contains the mono track for that cut. I’m tempted to pick up the Criterion set for that reason, and the Arrow set for the uncut version of The Big Boss. Currently the only Bruce set I have is the old Shout Factory set that doesn’t include EtD.
If u are a true fan of Bruce Lee u should own all three sets I have all the Shout Factory discs and the Criterion Set and I already preordered the Arrow box set from Arrow U.K and I have both the 2004 and the 40th anniversary of ETD and I own all the early vhs tapes and laserdiscs
Criterion vastly outdoes the Shout release. Was really unsure of purchasing Arrow's but the addition of new footage from Boss and Game really sealed it. John Little does the voice of Lee in the 5.1 track of Enter
Really hope Warner Brothers take a page out of Arrow Video’s book and impress us with their 50th Anniversary release of Enter the Dragon. New audio commentaries and stacked with Special Features including some brand new ones we’ve not seen before.
🤞🏻
They are releasing a 50th 4K disc this summer
@@IronClawNinja - Yes, I’m aware and that’s the release I’m talking about.
❤️
I’m hoping Warner’s will release the theatrical & the director’s cut much like Criterion but the both cuts in 4K.
It would be nice if they release it with its original theatrical artwork but if not then hopefully Arrow will have it in their mega set.
The arrow box set is going to be the best Bruce Lee box set ever released. I think Arrow just put in Enter the dragon to make the Golden Harvest set complete. I hope that the Warners 50th edition will include the theatrical cut, which I prefer to the Directors cut, as it contains the original audio and music cues. Maybe Warners will add in the work print in as well, that Bruce Lee saw himself at Warners, along with restored behind the scenes footage and much unseen stuff.
I'm only getting this set for two things. Tony Stella's art and Fist Of Fury, I do not care about the rest. Arrow had access to the RAW print so is going to benefit big time when it comes to HDR. It does have an extra cut for Big Boss so I'm curious about that as well. Criterion didn't have access to the materials at the time. I'm not getting the 4K disc from Warner because it will get an upgrade on the iTunes store for free if you already own it there. Like I tell people all the time if you see a popular film that says "From a 4K scan" you bet a 4K disc is coming. I do that all the time and ARROW has released the titles I have been waiting for in 4K, like Robocop and KINO with The Dollars trilogy. The same is going to happen with the other Jackie films.
The game of death content and the big boss content for me
I’m definitely getting the boxset. Don’t have any 4k kit at the moment so the Blu-ray boxset will do me just fine. Great point about getting a free upgrade on iTunes for ‘ETD’ I’m not picking up the disc unless it’s got some new extras and includes the theatrical version. The extras I’ve seen listed is the same stuff from the 25th anniversary edition. No thanks. Pull your finger out Warner
Looking at Amazon's listing for the '100 Years of Warner Bros: New Hollywood' box set (which contains 4K Enter The Dragon) the extras included are:
Blood And Steel: The making of Enter The Dragon
Bruce Lee: The curse of the dragon
Bruce Lee: In his own words
Location: Hong Kong with Enter The Dragon interview
Linda Lee Cadwell backyard workout with Bruce Lee
Theatrical trailers and TV spots
Apologies if I've missed anything from Amazon's unhelpful wall of text. It's fingers crossed that this disc will indeed get a seperate release to the box (in which it is apparently the sole item not previously released as a 4K). But I wouldn't expect anything until much later this year or maybe even 2024. Unfortunately there's no info on whether the disc contains anything but the regular version of the film.
Yep these are the same extras from the 25th anniversary edition. It’s time Warner brothers actually showed some respect to this film.
@@30plusfitnesstv Par for the course for major studios, sad to say. Sony are still putting out Easy Rider with the same meagre extras going all the way back to DVD issues.
Best Buy has it for preorder.
The only thing I am curious about is why are Criterion and Arrow allowed to include ETD in their Bruce Lee boxsets? I thought only WB have the rights to the movie? 🤔
They do. They are "Allowing" it. As is. The version they are given.
@@mg-ThisHandleIsSoStupid do
Do WB get any money from it though?
Thanks mg, you beat me to replying 🙏 and answered exactly as I would have 👍
Of course! You think Warner’s would just let the film be used on a set either label is selling commercially for free?
@@dane1786 Depends on the deal they struck. Maybe. That is completely up to them. By doing as is, they are saying we are going to put out a better version so people will still buy ours if they want a new better version.
This of course is unique to this release and timing of things.
We see a lot of joint releases with companies that 1 is in US and one is in UK and they do a deal together to use the same transfer and the only difference is art. Like the stuff Arrow and Synapse did with the Dario Argento.
Hopefully Warner Brothers will follow suit to release the fancier 50th Anniversary Edition set of Enter the Dragon with both Theatrical and Special Edition cuts on 4K this time using the source of the original camera negative (don’t know about the condition of the OCN of Enter the Dragon though and Criterion’s transfer of Enter the Dragon was coming from the interpositive), reproduction lobby cards, reversible posters, and a hardcover book just like what Arrow did for their ginormous box set of Bruce Lee Golden Harvest films.
Speaking of which, I’m curious if Arrow or Warner Brothers could add the Hong Kong theatrical cut of Enter the Dragon in their box set.
Time will tell, Warner Brothers recent apathy towards physical media doesn't give me a huge amount of hope, There's as much chance that Manta Lab will get to a standlone release of Enter the Dragon before WB's themselves do. But for now, unknown.
I'm really not holding out hopes for Warners 4K. Doubt very highly they'll have any new bonus features or even transfer the new 4k remaster to the blu ray disc.
Thank you my friend.
Thank you for watching my friend, I really appreciate it, as always!
Did Enter The Dragon inspire your channel name?
nope, it didn't at all actually, its from something else entirely, not movie related.
I have only seen enter the dragon which was great so was buying this either way because I want to Bruce Lee's movies and having it in a nice edition is huge bonus.
I think you’ll maybe not enjoy the earlier movies as much knowing your tastes Kai but pretty sure you’ll like Fist of Fury
@@TheFanaticalDragon only one way to find out 😆 what are the older ones in question?
The picture postcard of the Jim Kelly hanging is awful🤦♂️ why would they have that in there 🤦♂️
Bit of a weird choice isn’t it
@@TheFanaticalDragon yes😡
Thank you for this video! I'm not sure who owns which rights but do we suspect or even know if WB will release a 4k box with the movies in the upcoming Arrow box? If not maybe just picking up the Arrow box and then the Enter the Dragon 4k uhd release will have to suffice.
Cheers, Fortune Star currently hold the rights to all the Bruce lee Golden Harvest titles, they will NEVER appear on any Warner Brothers release. Warner Brothers only release titles they themselves own the rights too. Warner's have announced a 50th Anniversary release of Enter the Dragon is coming later this year. But no details are known thus far ( even if it will be a standalone release at all tbh or part of their 100 years of WB box) The Golden Harvest Bruce Lee Titles are really what is forming the cornerstone of the Arrow boxset. it's going to be a long time before we see the quality of Arrow's release being topped.
@@TheFanaticalDragon Best Buy has it for preorder.
What about the version in the Medium Rare boxset? 🤔
It’s just the same Warner Brothers standard Bluray from 2013 to the best of my knowledge
i really hate that arrow is only in UK the currency difference is maddening
I feel you mate, I had the same feeling when I was importing the Criterion Bruce Lee set from the USA. The boxset that made me originally buy a multi region Bluray player just so I could access it. Haven’t regretted either purchase for one second.
I hope Warner will release a 4K standalone disc of Enter the dragon with both cuts. If they don’t allow other labels to do it - except the Criterion - they have to release it.
What Warners should or have to do and what they actually do are sadly often rarely in alignment. Been waiting years and years and years for them to release or allow any release of Sammo Hung’s pedicab driver which they’ve been sitting on the rights too for years. We can only hope through!
Best Buy has them for preorder.
Where can I find that enter the dragon you have ?
Are you in the US? EBay is probably your best bet mate.
Criterion version is WAY better for ETD the colours are way nicer, the warners brothers 40th is a beyond terrible over saturated shit image. Sadly Warner’s never do a good job of ETD mainly coz the source is so shit, they didn’t look after the film simple as. My point being the new arrow and criterion releases are IT, that’s as good as they ever gonna look. Not possible to get em any better due to the source…
Aye, kinda. Certainly the Criterion version is the most recently worked on and to my eyes best version of ETD currently available anywhere. The Arrow boxset is primarily focused on Lee’s Golden Harvest movies so the version of ETD it includes ( as a bonus extra) is just a straight copy of Warner’s 40th anniversary disc, not tweaked, restored or changed in any way at all. Warner’s themselves have announced a standalone 4K UHD release of the film for release on 8/8/23. Time will tell how it works out.
I don't get the hype over GOD . Bruce would have scrapped it after the success of ETD . ... be nice to see the log scene though . What Colleen Camp brings to the table is beyond me . As for Mandarin BOSS , 10 mins is a lot .... the cart scene and the disposal of bodies of would make sense plus a few snippets of dialogue. Will know more in a couple of weeks !
