Whenever I feel like spending money I don't have on that next big performance upgrade, I get hit with a TTM video (aka a reality check) and it's a good reminder that spending more won't get you more skill, practice, and fitness. That isn't to say that one shouldn't mod their vehicle accordingly, but seeing you hauling ass across the desert on a bike most would send straight to the junkyard really makes me re-evaluate my recreational spending. Thank you.
Couldn't agree more, TTM is an amazing reality check for me too, the dude gets more seat time than most and I echo your thoughts exactly. Thanks also from me, please keep up the content :)
I love this guy's content so much
You're one of the most interesting people on RUclips, love your videos and totally support what you're doing.
It's impressive how well you can ride any bike in any given situation. Great vid!
That ending had me laughing. All that effort and it got slower. Time to reinstall previously removed parts. You need to do early morning runs for maximum horsepower potential in the cool crisp air.
XT250 "Rambo-First Blood" build next.
OMG THIS COULD BE MENTAL
He could re-enact the railroad track jump but I’m sure he would huck it bigger than the movie
You are scratching the teflon coating of the Pan with the stainless Flipper. Nice Video, keep IT Up. Greets dein Germany
Oops!
Kid if I could I'd buy you a new bike. Because you have talent. And I've seen all your videos. You are fast. Only if you had a bike to show it, as it should.
Just found your channel and joining your community. Love to see what these bikes can take. Much respect!
Best dirt bike content on youtube.
You need to get an interview with "Bob Hurricane Hannah" about how to set up a bike....you ride like him on bikes of the same era!
The "tuck and snap" can be vicious on a mountain bike too!
8:39 When you're supposed to fix the bike but you end up... "MEEEHHH that's not so bad aanyway"
Got a 2021 Pioneer ssr xf250 it sux but I like it.. you inspire me to learn more about the bike life
Great video! It's cool to see it flex in slow motion
👍I've heard other guys describe how a bike feels and it's so subtle that there is no way that they could ever demonstrate it in a video. Gabe says that it feels loose and then he shows the front end flopping back and forth in a turn like a limp dick on a jogger! 😂
Have you ever been to Mt Shasta? Though I saw your rig
That was me
Been waiting for this
This is awesome, so looking forward to more. New sponsorship coming your way 😉🏍️👌
I’d say a full fork rebuild would be the next best thing.
New fork bushings and fluid and seals.
Just did my triumph the other day, super easy
Most under rated channel!
Everything about this video is awesome.
Happy to
See your vids again keep them coimg
This hobothing is just amazing content🤣🙌
2 Strokes Ain't Enough!
you are an awesome human, keep it up!
Love these vids, thanks for all your hard work. I am still wanting to find out what happened to your kdx 200?
I think it is still sitting in pieces in mrduhfactor's garage
Thanks for keeping it real.... and saving my MX budget....I need to practice more and spend less on the bike🤔
Nice handlebar fix the SP 500 is ready to race
so much fun
Can’t wait for the Goldwing tests!
This world needs more goldwing flight time for sure lol
Nice video!!!
Hell yeah Iv been waiting for this
Nice vid as usual. Dr500 is an old trusty bike!
If you really want to have more power you should go for DR600 cylinder and cylinder head. These can be made to fit by filing crankcases. Don't use original exhaust header pipe. Remove balancing axle chains and sprockets and add extra clutch plates. Use DR500 camshaft and carburetor. You will have trouble with third gear breaking and cam chain needs to be taken care of regularly, don't try to tune for maximum power. There will still always be problem with some 30 years of improvement of competition like KTM and Husqvarna. SP was never a race bike to start with.
Gosh I would love to have that bike.. Ol saduki ..lol
You should send this thing out in a blaze of glory with some nos 😆 also have you tried one of those flebay clutch pull reducers?
I like this idea. I haven't tried those, but this thing doesn't need one
I just waiting for the day your race a klx 250r 94- at glen Helen
Love it man👌👌
That thing screams "Put me behind the barn and give me the coup de grace!"
Hahahah it does

I lovw uour size matters xr600 shirt its awesome but I also love the xr250r sooo can you perhapes make a xr250r shirt?
I thought these old 500s were meh till I got an 81 Yamaha xt 500 find it funny I thought they were slow till I pushed 140kmh on a gravel road
I think the slower time was from that big bog you had out of a turn. If not for that, I think it would've been a second or 2 faster
Amazing ending.
Remove the rubber , put in some washers , and there you go, rock solid
I hope you didnt throw all the stuff as now you have to add them on again to make it faster.
How did you get a Digger Sticker?
I want to see a top-end rebuild or if needed a full engine rebuild
The clutch makes it sound like it's automatic transmission instead of manual 😆
People pay 300-400 dollars for flexx bats or flex triple clamps, who knew suzuki did it back in the 80s for way less price
How do you navigate in the desert with no nav or route markers?
Landmark orientation and backstops. At this particular chunk of desert I can tell where I am just by observing my relation to the highest peak (landmark orientation) and I know the area is bordered all around by certain roads (backstops) so if I somehow did manage to get lost, like if a dust storm kicked up really bad I could just head generally one direction on a double track and I'd eventually hit one of the main roads and wouldn't be lost anymore
@@TortureTestMagazine thanks! That's something to think about and practice next time I go out
👍
Traction slows you down, Brother.
I think you will find that engine has a lot more to give with a rebuild and a few mods, the 100cc and 250cc Dr's were definitely over achievers back in the day. The 125 was a dog
Oh yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
That was fun to watch. But if you keep fixing like that, you're gonna double your time eventually LOL!!! What the heckfire was that were you frying anyways!!??
Maybe I can get it bad enough to actually have some competition from the KTM crowd
It was just ground beef for spaghetti night!
One thing I would really be interested to see, though it is not quite down with the torture test magazine philosophy, is what would happen, if you put a mountainbike downhill front on that bike.
A standard DH fork wouldn't take the abuse of the extra weigth and speed, especially with a MTB front wheel and tire. Maybe the ones that are modified for the hybrid MTB/Moto electric bikes things would work tho.
@@gg4760-k5n depends on what we are talking about. Consider this, a fat dude on an E-MTB is easily close to that bike plus gabe. That's exactly why I think this would be interesting
@@petergriffin4629 lol I forgot that I was talking to Americans. I guess you can put a 100+ kg lad on a eBike and it will do just fine, but how hard is this guy gonna ride ? 100% sure it will be slow and painfull to watch so while the mass will be there, the stress induced by speed won't be there. A fat dude on his eBike going slow still put less stress on components than a fast lad weighting 70/80kg which can break a lot of stuff, like the DH top lads fr instance. Also even if I doubt guys over 120kg go and do anything remotely near DH mtb, I can garantee that those would destroy a lot of gear. The MTB world is very focused on shaving as many grams as possible and usually produce stuff that is nowhere near as reliable as motorbike stuff.
@@gg4760-k5n i am not American. And you'd be amazed at what people I see on the trails here in Germany. Though yes you are right, the peak equipment is obviously made for skinny lads. But you know half of the point is using them in the wrong place, exactly to see how well they hold up. I didn't say that dh forks are superior to bike forks as bike forks. Obviously they aren't. But one point is clear. If you go for the most beefy MTB forks you can find, than they have the same or bigger diameter than bike shocks from the 70s, that's why I say it's interesting to compare.
@@petergriffin4629 keep in mind that even DH forks use thin wall alloy tubes and magnesium casted lower. So while they are indeed stiffer than the forks on the ST500 I doubt they are as solid
I think you could shed a lot of weight with a different muffler. You need everything you can get
The mortar tube hanging off the back is worth a lot of laughs, but it'll probably be replaced with a junkyard pick soon lol
Nice vid man! You gonna be at the 24?
simple jack enduro lol!
I'll be there. Look for the Rocky Mountain rig
@@TortureTestMagazine nice, see you on the line buddy 👍🏼
So my takeaway is that I don't have to cash out on time or money to get my old bike faster :)
HA! nice one
I'd. Like to see you on my 450. I bet youd be very fast.
Awesome haha
The only issue is everything
It slowed down??/ WTF you dropped like 10kg of weight and "fixed" the handling!?
Haha nice
Eat some celery to drop a few pounds.
It got slower... 😂
Is that thing better than the ttr125?
No
Who's torturing who? You or the bike lol
Find the worst-problem-that-is-easiest-to-fix, fix (bodge) it, repeat.
Almost first😓
I wonder if you’ll still be riding like this when you’re 50… 🤔
If he does not have too many injuries probably.
Guys hear me out, if he rides this well on junk, what would happen if we put him on a KTM?
If he became just another skilled rider on a KTM Gabe would probably never become a legendary example of heart and skill being greater than having a fat wallet. I wouldn't be surprised if he has been offered bikes to ride for a manufacturers team but decided not to go that route. If Gabe ever decided to accept a more competitive bike I certainly wouldn't blame him at all.
