Hey man, came across this channel the other day. space wolves are my 2nd army however I've never really played them until this edition. l love terminators and have been running 1st company. 20 terminators just deep striking in is great to pull off and can catch players off guard. would be good to see a list building video for each detachment (especially your take on 1st company) as all other list videos just have cavalry in.. and i dont have any of those. got a sub.
Have you ever saw real life wolves hunting? They patiently follow and stress the prey until they finally reveal an opening and then they call for the real attack. The only real Space Wolves detachment to me it's Gladius. Stratagems enhance SW units where and when they need. Ofc it's the most difficult to use, but also the most versatile and rewarding. The other detachments have pre-declared tactics that won't surprise an experienced player. Adaptability, patience and teamwork are the strenghts of a wolf. What does this mean in practice? My Gladius list have a bit of everything, it's focused on early scoring secondaries along the whole battlefield thanks to many scouts (morkais also have scouts) and infiltrators, covered by long range shooting. Small units of Thunderwolves with hero and Wulfen retaliate any enemy advance. By turn 2 or 3 the opponent have left an opening that you must be smart to identify. And a massive unit of Terminators with 2 heroes and fire discipline will appear to capitalize on it. Like real life wolves, if the main attack succeds you win, otherwise you go home empty stomach.
I think I will burnout just playing one detachment, even interchanging units. Sometimes it is great to play games for fun and experiment things. For serious tournaments though, I would go stormlance.
I just started playing 40k a year ago and I “second” SW and I have only 1k -ish models. I want to spam out dreadnoughts though, so I really kinda… NEVER know wtf detachment I want
