Even though the additional RAM purchased by me on 17/10/2021 had a different packaging, the details obtained from the Command Prompt using DOS commands exactly match the ‘original’ RAM. As per this video, the difference in packaging is an indicator of a fake product. However, I did not face any difficulty so far. Both the RAMs are compatible with each other and are working well. So, even if the second RAM is a fake, it’s so identical in terms of the physical dimensions and the specifications that it doesn’t really matter. It also proves the fact that crucial computer components like RAM have become commoditised and you may not feel the difference between a 'fake' and an 'original' hardware just as you don’t feel the difference between a fake and a genuine software.
I ve been scammed by a renowned online retailer with this hyperx 8gb ram for ddr3 pcs's. The fake ram has all the fake details mentioned here. I have pics of the same. Thanks for sharing this video
i bought a kit, a kingston with non existing PN KF436C16BB/8-SP, 2x16GB, it can run on xmp2.0, 1795.6Mhz, CL22... i had been using it playing games (at least 4-8 hours)daily for2 years ish, RDR2, GOtG, BG3, ER, DD2... no issue unless i re-plug the kit for cleaning, need to try to slot a few times to get it work. Even though it is working fine, sometimes i do feel a small thorn inside my heart.
I bought the hyperx fury 32gb kit for £66 with shipping which is more than Amazon. It’s so sad getting scammed from eBay and definetly no life time warranty
So, what's the verdict? Mine are halfway between these two. Any performance problems? Any response from kingston whether these are *actually* knockoffs or if they just licensed to another facility?
I have bought some of these 'fake' hyperX RAMs, they all run fine though. Probably legit cannibalized memory chips. It's some DDR3 RAMs to upgrade some old systems, so it doesn't matter much to me. If it's DDR4 I wouldn't do it though.
I have a good feeling that the ram I bought is fake. But before buying this, I already bought chinese branded ram sticks that are low-profile. They look exactly the same as kingston ram sticks. I am happy to say that these ram sticks work better than the original ones I have. I sold my original kingston ram sticks. Ahahahaha!
I bought them from aliexpress and one of them after 1-2 months decided not to work and i was scared for a bit cuz the pc wasn’t turning on , once I removed the ram it started booting normally as it should plz guys be careful out there buying this scum
