When Cai and I were in Edinburgh last April, we visited Digger's on Adam's recommendation. We walked in and all the locals looked at us funny, and we said a friend told us whisky nerds shouldn't miss Digger's. We ended up sitting beside the owner and chatting whisky without knowing it. A while later the Deanston rep shows up with some promo bottles. Our new friend the owner of Digger's gave us some Deanston 18 and asked if he should put it in the regular rotation. Whisky friends are the best friends.
A great classic example of a balanced, sherried whisky, went very well with the Bird's custard that I had for dessert. Warm baking spices, almost overripe peaches and wet, plumped raisins in apricot brandy
What an interesting whisky to enjoy alongside the ribeye with bernaise sauce tonight. Not to my usual taste, a little harsh, but seemed to go well after dinner. Reminded me of roast rosemary on a steak...or was the ribeye talking?
Love this whisky and always happy to have a dram. It's fresh and fruity and very tasty. And congrats on your house!!

Pretty classic Deanston. Smells like licorice and cherries. Tastes like treacle tart.
I’m a day late but this is one of my favourites so far! Big, funky, older-than-twelve-years tasting to me. Love it.
