Isn't it a bit deceptive to market a bottle named X, the roman numeral for TEN? I'm in the USA where Glenmorangie TEN is 43% and was usually only a few dollars more than this Cocktail Whisky, so I never saw the point of it? I also don't see the point of Glenmorangie introducing another NAS 40% whisky in the form of this new Triple Cask Reserve...unless the X has been discontinued already?

I also regret that I haven't tried this and tried pushing it in our store.... I'll have to try some finally so I can taste for myself. I tried selling it as a mixer... but as you said, it's hard at the price point when there are great blended scotches that will work just fine. 15% off though?! HAWT damn. I think our last bottles will fly off the shelf now :)

Hah! You're a brave man coming out on the internet and trying to defend this one. XD If the tag line was supposed to be "The Whisky of Choice for Bartenders", then the PR group in charge of this do not understand bartenders. No bartender is going to mix a well drink with a bottle that costs twice as much as its competitors behind the bar. They worried too much about the palate of bartenders and not the wallet of consumers. =/ Sadly, I can't even speak about the taste because I've never bought the bottle nor do I know anyone who has.

Good review!!! I bought an Aerolite Lyndsay but on the box and the bottle it is not written that it is not cold filtered and natural color. Did they omit it or does it simply have coloring and is cold filtered?

Just cracked this bottle, after buying it from the Strath a while ago. To my palette, this is whiskey heaven! Why aren't more folks waxing lyrical about it! I loved batch 1 but batch 2 is even better. Incredible value for the quality of the liquid!

Oh and A mix I really like is Makers Mark and Cherry Coke . Vanilla coke is also ok.

Love the use of fucking diet coke to troll the fuck out of us. You would at least go for a cane sugar coca-cola pairing if you had any class.

Obviously, the results are null and void since you didn't do like for like. Should have used regular Coke instead of Coke Zero. TOTALLY different. ;-)

This core range is bangin. The 30 year old grain reminds me a bit of the 27 yo Cameronbridge they did a couple years ago. I like grain whisky, on one hand I like that everyone avoids it, keeps pricing down and availablity up-ish. On the other, if more people liked it, we'd see more of it. And the CC15 you referenced surprised me by how good it was.

Value on this one is shockingly good. And the whisky is great too. Sure it doesnt have the panache of a 25yo Ardbeg or Bowmore, but it's something people are actually going to drink.

Not Frank, but proper burnt ends are a brisket thing, made from the fatty end. But alot of people are putting up how to's for fake burnt ends by just smothering meat chunks in BBQ sauce. Boutique-y released a technically unnamed Tennessee rye in the last couple years that was really good. Jack Daniels and George Dickle are the only two distilleries that are likely, and it's not JD. One of the neater looking bottles, and it tastes pretty darn good too.

Dang. My ears were burning and now I know why. =D Love the Auchentoshan 18s. and for the record, we have had FIVE Auchentoshan 18s in the past two years, 4 of which I've liked enough to buy a bottle of if not be my top whisky of the outturn. I was just saying I'd love to try some other age statements of Auchentoshan from the SMWS because I am full up on 18s XD Keep up the recaps, I love watching them =)

I didn't mind the Torfa, I thought they had a nice enjoyable peat level on it. But the Sanded that's coming was one of my favorites from the fest.

To your point about age, New Zealand has a particularly variable climate, so conventional wisdom among our distillers is that whisky ages faster here than somewhere like Scotland.

I was able to actually find a bottle of the Amrut single cask from 2016 in Victoria! Last dusty bottle on the shelf haha

Do they still sell this? I bought a bottle several years ago (it's still sealed) but the box did not have the diagonal band on it - it was just plain gold.

I was just gifted a bottle of this stuff by one of my client’s parents who took a trip to New Zealand recently. This stuff has a very unique flavor that I can’t really describe. It is very good, and I can only assume it’s because of the manuka smoked barley that gives it the unique flavor
