Great video! It’s good to see such honesty about a collection and to show that records don’t necessarily have to be super-mint to form an enviable collection, well done on achieving this.

Congratulations on acquiring these special records. The British versions from the era are definitely something to behold. I just did something similar although I went for early 1970s pressings which have the same stampers and have the laminated covers and flip back sleeves…..they sound amazing especially Abbey Road. Thanks for sharing this

Good stuff. I don;t have any, but original pressings are a direct connection to the life & times. They make the best time machines.

I was a 70's UK teen and first obtained all the Beatles original albums via the BC13 set in 1978. At the start of this year I started recollecting vinyl and decided to get early pressings of all the albums. I didn't want to pay a fortune for mint copies. I set the criteria of being in the sort of condition they would be in if I'd bought them myself at the time in the 60's when first released, which would be handled and played a lot but also handled with care. I got first or second press mono (except Please Please Me which is a 4th pressing) up to and including Sgt Pepper and first or second pressings stereo from the White Album onwards. I have a top loader numbered White Album, but don't yet have the original Let It Be box set. I love the history behind them more than anything. Even though you can never know the history, I like the fact that at some point all those years ago someone went into a shop and bought the copies that I now have.

Great job! I, too, have all the UK first pressing. They sound fantastic. Find a top loader white album. I have a couple of mono copies, and they are by far my favorite pressing! Keep the videos coming.

Those first four mono Beatles records sound so good. I think they were all cut using vacuum tube gear. Later on they switched to transistors, that’s why the matrix has the N at the end, it means tube cut. The vacuum tube equipment gives the sound that extra depth and warmth. They all sound amazing, if you can get a clean copy I highly suggest it.

Nice collection, Brian, and glad you finally reached a collecting milestone! While I do have a number of UK first (or at least early) pressings, I am still missing some. Please Please Me and A Hard Day's Night are the main two but, for example, I have a UK first pressing of Help! in mono but all my stereo copies are later pressings. Similar thing for Sgt. Pepper where I have UK first stereo pressing but not a mono (though I do have a US mono). It's really a rabbit hole collecting Beatles albums plus, as you touched on, some of them have gotten really expensive now.

Great stuff, thanks! I plan to go back to the specific episode you did on The White Album & Beatles For Sale as those 2 albums hold special intrigue & memory for me (I mean, they ALL do of course, but those two unusually so).

Back in the dark ages, (1964) when I was a child I was introduced to The Beatles. I bought all their albums, the U.S. versions. You see, back then I had no idea the British versions even existed. Of course, I knew The Beatles were from Liverpool, but the thought of different versions never occurred to me. Jump 60 years and these records that were $4.00 - $5.00 are worth so much money! How funny.

Great to see all of these. I've got most of the UK pressings but could never find a Pepper or White album at a decent cost/condition. Had to 'settle' for the 2014 monos😊 would like to hear your review of the Pumpkins boxset in the background!

Congrats man, I have them all but I’m actually from the UK where there not as hard to come by, always find it funny how UK copies catch a premium in the US, whereas US copies catch a premium here 🤟🏽

Awesome collection man! 😎 I'd love to get some OG black & yellow Parlophone pressings at some point, but they're tough to track down in excellent shape, at reasonable prices.
I just went with everything that Andrew at Parlogram recommended and made my own ultimate stereo boxset with the "best sounding" cuts he mentioned - mainly UK 2 box EMI and German pressings.
As far as mono pressings, I got the 2014 mono boxset and pretty much called it good there. I still want a full UK BC-13 set though, and need to track down just a couple more UK copies to complete that set. Anyway, thanks for sharing... Always enjoy your videos! 🍻

Nice collection, Brian. Congats on getting them all. It took me years, but I managed to get all of both the mono and stereo lps, although some do need upgrading. The prices now are making that tough, and postage from the UK is absurd. Good luck with your search!

Hi. The 1970's black/silver Parlophone label releases (also available in the early 80's) sound pretty awesome and are still quite affordable, no mono pressings of that era exist to my knowledge . I tend to prefer the stereo versions, even for the first 2 albums. George Martin thought the stereo presentation on those was far too crude, but they still have a certain excitement factor.

In terms of "what The Beatles would have listened to" (and for the sake of completeness,) do you not need to have the Magical Mystery Tour double E.P. that was issued in the UK? (I know the U.S. album was eventually released in the U.K. in 1976 but that is outside your parameters). I imagine it might be pretty hard to find though.

Brilliant!, Well done👏 , I live in Sydney & I have all the original Australian pressings including first 1963 pressings of "Please Please Me" & "With The Beatles" albums which were BOTH released firstly in mono on black & gold print Parlophone labels & are considered holy grails in Australia! 🇦🇺, also "With The Beatles" & "Beatles For Sale" albums were released in totally different covers than in U.K!, by 1964 all mono pressings were released on the same black & yellow Parlophone labels but the stereo 1's were on black & silver print Parlophone labels until the White Album when the Apple label began, by late 1969 all mono pressings were deleted & only stereo 1's became available & the labels were changed to orange Parlophone but Apple issued albums remained unchanged until 1982 when EMI reissued all albums on the black & silver print Parlophone labels until vinyl production ended 10 years later when cd's took over.

I am in Australia and my original UK mono’s have been acquired over a 10-15 year period. I still don’t have Yellow Submarine yet but I have 2 Mono Sgt Pepper’s, one with the wide spine. My mono White Album is numbered in the 30,000’s and is the most expensive record I own but worth every cent

The `White` Album is a much later pressing, at least eight to ten years (Mid to late 1970s) Proof can be found on the Parlogram channel. You really need a top opener set with records on the darker Apple label.

Enjoyed the video! I took the same journey about 14 years ago collecting the original mono UK albums (plus the two albums only released in stereo, of course). It was a fun experience to collect them all. It was challenging to get clean copies of some titles, plus the mono White Album is still the most I’ve ever paid for a record in my lifetime, but I saved up for a keeper.
I also took the added step to collect all 22 original UK singles plus the Long Tall Sally and Magical Mystery Tour EPs, just so I had the core 60s catalog including all of the non-LP tracks. Of everything I collected, I had the most fun collecting the singles. Some can still be found cheaply if you have patience. I find the singles best replicate the way many original fans enjoyed the band, as they contained the biggest hits and were enjoyed by fans who couldn’t afford full-length albums. (Plus , so many of the singles never made it to albums at all.) I also love the punchy mono mixes on those singles, sounding more powerful than the later CD (and LP) versions released on Mono Masters. The bass on “Baby, You’re A Rich Man” will knock your socks off! (It’s a song I never cared for until I heard the single.) Even if you’re not a 45 guy, pick up at least one original UK 45 if you see one in the wild. You might get hooked!
