I inherited a bunch of capitol pressings from my mom she gave me her collection as a teen. I’m almost 50 and I still have and play them all to this day. One of them is even a first press AHDN on united artists in mono. Thanks mom!
Great video, Brian. Agree with you on the U.S. mono and German stereo pressings, as well as the 2014 mono. I have my original since bought when it came out in 1967. I think it's unfortunate that Strawberry Fields and Penny Lane weren't on Sgt Pepper, where they rightfully belonged, but this makes good use of them at least.
This is one of the few records I still need regarding the Beatles. A mono magical mystery tour.I really wish I could get a copy straight from the USA as on eBay in the UK it's so expensive. And so are the UK versions of the mono. I've never heard an original USA mono mmt. The stereo UK mmt from 76 sounds ok but that's only down to Harry Moss and his mastering skills as it was taken from a copy of a copy of a copy. So mono mmt from USA in the needs and dreams list. Has been for years. I pretty much have everything else.
I agree completely with you on this one! I have a Scranton pressing from '67 and the clarity and depth of this mono record is really fantastic. It's such a good sounding mono pressing, it sounds like it's in stereo 😉 Some mono pressings have a muddy, dull sound but not this one!
The Capitol issues are just “origin grabs” in view of their covers, mix and numbers of each single record and quality. The issues had never been welcome by the group itself.
I think maybe I can agree with you. I have the German pressing that I've listened to it hundreds of times. I have a few pressings of the US pressing that are all fantastic, and I'm lucky enough to have a very nice original UK EP, too, which is pretty cool. Great video, man! Keep em coming!
On Beatles VI, Capitol hit a home run with the mash-up of six songs from For Sale, two from Help, and two songs recorded specifically for it, Bad Boy and Dizzy Miss Lizzie (also from Help), plus the B-side of the Ticket to Ride single. The resulting US-only LP was a gem! Of all the Capitol waifs, Beatles VI stands out, the song selection meshing into an elegant rock album.
I absolutely agree with you 100% Brian! I'm lucky enough to have a mono Capitol copy complete with an EMI import sticker on the top right of the cover. It's not in the best condition but good enough to thoroughly enjoy. I found it hiding in a small secondhand shop in North London! All the best from the UK.
6:35 “you can hear ‘Every Little Thing’…” my mono Capitol MMT is missing that track. Sorry. Thank you for filming these; between your channel, Parlogram, and Hoffman forums, I now have a PhD in Beatle records… and finally a complete first press mono UK collection. Awesome work, great job.
Brian, do you have any interest in doing a video on the DMM White Album? I just picked one up that's sealed. I have no idea what it looks or sounds like and would be curious to get your thoughts/opinions on this particular album (unless, of course, you've already done one!). Thanks man!
@@dustincampbell5170 I definitely do. A friend of mine has that pressing, so I’ve heard it a few times. I’ll try and borrow his again or find one for myself. Stay tuned!
I have that ‘85 German white album on white vinyl DMM, it sounds fantastic and has so much natural low end. I also have a German MMT DMM and it also sounds killer. These have become my favorite way to hear both of these lp’s in stereo!

For me, I agree with you, in Mono you can’t touch the 2014. In stereo that mid 70’s German pressing is also fantastic ……

Have the 2014 mono it’s amazing
Hopefully Capitol will keep going with the current theme and put it out next year. The 2014 mono goes for a premium these days.

Hi been following you for a short amount of time. The Beatles & George Martin hated the American pressings. Completely changing the mixes etc

I had a German white vinyl pressings and it was a great sounding version. Seemed well balanced with high highs and great bass.
