For sure. Love this scene look at the giant flash on the camera! Also the scene when Michael Keaton is flipping off the cop car through the limo tint lol
She was smokin' hot back then, wasn't she? When her character in that movie says "Men love scrambled," I always think that's not the only thing that men love.
42 years later, and the music still sounds great. The outfits are cool, too. The girls outfits look sexy, and the mens outfits look stylish. Especially Keaton's suit at (2:11). The 80's was a fun era, and the 'Night Shift' was one of the highlights of that. Thanks for posting this. 😁
I still have a copy of Night Shift on VHS when it was released in early 1983 in one of those oversized Warner Brothers' boxes that doesn't fit on a shelf! The tape still holds up amazingly well after 30 years.
I was 13 years old when i saw Night Shift when it originally came out in the movie theaters in 1982. Saw it with my then best friend, a fellow fanatic about the movies. We talked, read, ate, drank, and slept the movies. And we went to the movies together once a week, every week, for a lot of years from the 1970s-1980s. (And after seeing our movie, we'd retreat back to his place to watch even more movies airing on his living room tv) There was no particular reason we went to see Night Shift. We tried to see as many of the new movies coming out as we possibly could regardless of the genre (he loved horror movies, i preferred comedies), plot, critics reviews, or who starred in it. And Night Shift just happened to be one of the new movies that just came out. I dont exactly recall my friends reaction, but i loved it right from my very first viewing. It quickly became one of my most favorite movies. Going to the movies in the 1970s-1980s with my best friend is among my most fondest, happiest memories of not only my childhood, but of my entire life.
december 1981, New York, as far as I could remember when they shooted the movie. y'all remember the crime-ridden streets, the Deuce, pixelated arcade games, graffiti covered subway cars and post-disco days at Garage, Zanzibar, FunHouse?
This great Al Jarreau song is available only on Night Shift soundtrack on original vinyl through Ebay or Amazon. I just ordered it! And the scene where Shelley Long is making breakfast for the Fonz in her underwear is burned into my brain!!! YOWZA!!
Me too, before she became Diane from Cheers. I saw this movie just after the show premiered on t.v., and damn! I looked at her a completely different way. Hooowee!!!
Do yourself a favor and find a way to see this movie if you haven't already because it's just about the funniest I've ever seen and it still holds up today. It's usually played late at night tho and I only occasionally see it aired, which is a shame because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! 💞💖💞💗

Love this film, been watching it a lot lately .It's so cool that the guy who plays Richie Cunningham (Ron Howard) directs the film and that the guy who plays the Fonz (Henry Wrinkler) stars in this film. This shows that both of them are for more than just Happy Days (which is an awesome show btw!) And Michael Keaton just nails his role, he's perfect for Bill. Lol, though I could also see Bill Murrary playing Bill in this flick, but I'm glad they chose Michael Keaton in this role instead. 100% perfect 80s comedy film!
Of all of the obscure & downright awful soundtracks that are so easy to find, why is a great one like "Night Shift" not available on I-Tunes?? Love the diversity of the music that Ron Howard & Brian Grazer used throughout the movie, including Rod Stewart's version of "That's What Friends Are For". But "Girls Know How" was the BEST...Would love to have a link if anyone has it!
I believe rod Stewart's version was before the big one sung by elton Dionne, stevie & gladys. That song used to make me cry as a kid bc it was so touching.
I've been looking for this tune for years--a rare teaming of Bacharach,Foster and Graydon--you could almost call that a Westcoast Holy Trinity(not to be sacriligious). Thanks for the post,Jimpsterz!
Arth! I hear you! We must be around the same age, almost 40? I am with you brother. I was always real partial to the tall blonde girl who wears the cowboy hat too. Good tunes, great acting - one of my all time favorites.
It's funny how experiences we have when we are young shape us in so many ways. This movie influenced the women I am attracted to, plus the MUSIC. This song is one of my ALL time favs. What a gem and Jeff Porcaro on the drums is grooving like a you know what.
I shake my head at how much people were making back in the 80's. The investment screen shows 17.25% on an investment. You can't find stuff like that today unless it's a high risk. And back then it was just considered "good".
+Sean Belfast you can rent it or own it from amazon. www.amazon.com/Night-Shift-Henry-Winkler/dp/B001GZSHQW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1456157588&sr=8-1&keywords=night+shift

1982 was such an awesome year! The movies, the music. Night Shift blended into the era perfectly. I sincerely wish it was 1982 now!
Best part of the movie!!!!!!! God memories! Al Jarreau is awesome!
She was smokin' hot back then, wasn't she? When her character in that movie says "Men love scrambled," I always think that's not the only thing that men love.

Love this song! Saw the movie (AGAIN) recently. Goofy movie but I love me some Michael Keaton!
I always thought it was strange casting Richard Belzer as a tough against Henry Winkler, who he greatly resembles.
But it worked, great movie 👍👍
