So profound...
It was technically the same with Danny. Which is why I never quite understood this sudden shift. She should be happy that the people are happy. She shouldn't be discouraged that they don't adore her or even are misogynistic; they've always been like that. And she has always overcome. It may have taken years, but I thought that BECAUSE it had taken all those years, it meant she would have built up more patience.
Yeah. I hated this season's writing
Jon: "Vomiting is not celebrating".
Tormund (serious expression): "Yes, it is".

Danaerys Jon dynamics in a nutshell
She realises that they love him way more than her, indeed an important scene
Just like viserys in season 1
yeah but she took it way out of context. She shouldn't be expecting blind devotion. Jon has been with the Wildings for years. Dany has been with the unsullied for years. Each groups have utter dedication to both of them.
@@breitperformer9310 Sure. But Dany WANTED the throne. To reiterate Jon's words: "I dun wan it". Since she liberated Essos from "bad men" (I mean they were bad, for sure, but the way she percieves them is entirely manichean), she assumes she's always right, has a confirmed destiny, and that all should bow to it. Jon commands respect, Dany expects it out of the blue. She did have respect in the North (Tormund cheered to the Dragon Queen), but you can't expect the South to be on the same footing after a full year of slandering by Cersei. Dany wasn't satisfied with the dedication of the Unsullied and Dothraki, she wanted the whole of Westeros to be dedicated. And when she realised it wasn't, instead of working to gain it, she decided they were the enemy. She takes by force. Jon took what was given with humility.
@@k.v.7681Also Jon didn't want power instead of Daenerys. He didn't care about politics, he wanted to save the Realms. He did mistakes, yes but always wanted the best for everyone around him. Killing Dany was absolutely heartbreaking for him. He's really the prince who was promised for my opinion.
Hmmm
Jon got that Targaryen charisma and leadership with Stark loyalty and honor
loyalty and honor?? ... u're delusional
I would Starks are the better leaders. The dragon ppl just kinda acted like they owned shit bc the could. Which they weren’t wrong per se but hey. Look where it got em. Their house is extinct. Whole damn country went extinct. See what happens when you think your shit don’t stink? Lmao
Show Jon got no charisma and leadership. He couldn't even stop his own men from raping during the suck of King's Landing and most of his plans throughout the series were failing one after the other...
@@ftw001what you mean?
@@yodasippin1317true The Starks ruled for approximately 8000 years as Winter kings
I don’t even think she’s jealous of Jon in this scene. She’s jealous of everyone. They all have families and connections. Their all friends with history. She doesn’t have that. The scene moves to several different people, not just Jon. She’s so alone. And doesn’t know how to engage and integrate into the celebration.
Yet makes no effort to overcome it. Instead, she sits down, expecting everyone to fall into her lap because of who she is. She wasn't rejected because she didn't even try.
@@jorgebersabe293 yeah I agree. She’s sitting there isolated waiting for people to worship her. She’s a great conqueror but knows nothing about ruling, politics or family

Emilias stare at the end is creepy as hell. Mad Queen right there. Wonderful actress!
Only Varys was paying attention to Daenerys changing.
Guy was really watchful, when it came to the one on the throne.
Daenerys here was becoming a lot like her brother Viserys. I remember that day when all the Dothraki held her up and were chanting for her and her baby, Viserys had that same look. Dany was jealous of Jon just like Viserys was jealous of her.
Fucking hell your so right. Just rewatched it all for the first time since it all aired and I never thought of that. It is 100% that. Now she knows how it feels and it sucks. Viserys was a evil cunt though and was his fault. She was being a bit of a bitch to everyone in the north trying to be Queen of everyone she forgot to be like everyone else or be around anyone but Jon and her dragons so what did she expect. They were both riding dragons in the battle so she can't take all the credit like she's used to. I don't justify how it all ended but They wrote it the way they wanted to write it. Couldve ended a 1000 different ways. Her, Jon, and the night king all had 7 years of build up and hype for it all to be ended in a span of 3 episodes in the worse ways possible. What a tragedy
Sad
If I was the won who won the war for everyone and they praised someone else I would be jealous too
@Nini agreed!
Without Jon they would’ve lost the war, what are you even on about
It’s at this moment Danny realized she should have stayed in meren
She should stayed as a kalishie
She should have brought the Dothrakis there. They are wilder than any of them when drunk.
@@mannylugz5872
Dothrakis aren't wild while in the North.
They are never comfortable there and can barely hold it together.
The same would happen to the wildlings and the Northerners if they were across the narrow sea in the Dothraki grasslands.
Tormend is the best hype man ever. Tells your simple story like it’s the most epic. Friends like that are rare.
He truly was a king. Earning the respect of many, not through fear or control but by just being a great man. Dany was right to be worried. She was nowhere near his true greatness
Eh, Dany also did that. Her entire army followed her across the sea - left their homes and lives and everything they ever knew - because they wanted to, because they believed in her and loved her.
@@lindoriel7286 believed due to her dragons ..unlike Jon who was followed for the man he was
@@lindoriel7286 I agreed she displayed similar character, until she felt undervalued. Which why it I important to maintain your own value overall.
@@mjb_mohd Not true. The Khal followed her because she declared herself their ruler, and killed the others who tried to force her to become Dosh Khaleen (which she did herself, no dragons involved). She made all the Dothraki that followed her, her bloodriders, declaring them closer than family. The whole army of the Unsullied followed her by choice after she freed them. They could have gone off and done whatever they wanted to, but when they were given the first choice of their lives, they chose her. Missandei explains that to both Davos and Jon when they first meet her. The only people that could be said to follow her for her dragons were the Westeros armies (Dorne, the Reach, the Ironborn) but then they were more motivated by revenge against Cersei and the Lannisters that intimidated by dragons.
While for Jon, you can make a case that the Freefolk followed him out of love, but it didn't exactly start like that. Only when he promised to take them beyond the wall if they fought with him, did they then really start to respect him. Because up until that point, he was a crow who'd lied to sneak into their ranks, and who'd attempted to kill the King Beyond the Wall. But otherwise, the Northern lords followed him because he was the last fighting man with a claim to Stark blood, and even then they rejected him at first and only joined after he defeated the Boltons (with the Vale's significant help). It was the Stark name the Lords of the North followed him for.
You can love or hate Dany as much as you want, but its ridiculous to claim that her armies followed her out of fear or for dragons, especially when you have 6 seasons worth showing everything she did to gain their loyalty.
@@lindoriel7286that’s the only way she can gain support by freeing enslaved people
Danys looking like ........FOR THE WATCH LOL
Underrated comment 😂😂😂
💀
This is a key scene.
Dany promotes Gendry and Tyrion basically tells Dany he knows it was only to make him an ally & not a threat to the throne.
More importantly, that shows what she has been doing since the beginning, building an army to claim the throne.
Significantly she sees the soldiers laughing with Jon whilst she is left alone - it makes her realise that people bond with Jon because he is what he says he is, does what he says he’ll do. He fights with them down in the mud.
He talks to them as friends not as their king whilst she expects them to love her and be all around her all the time - but she is always on Drogon, away from the threat of battle, safer than her people and able to escape when she likes. In other words while he’ll talk to a pig farmer in the same way he talks to a Lord and doesn’t expect anything back, she puts herself bad being too important to talk to the Pig Farmer and expects the Lord to bow and grovel to her.
AngelicusImmortus yoooo, you made me love this scene even more, tnxx👏🏽👏🏽

I think power is knowledge ,a shadow on the wall, power and overall LONELINESS
I think most of the people knows exactly what this scene means, it’s EXTREMELY OBVIOUS, not need to say that again.
Oh and it still didn’t justify the character arc
I love how you see all the different houses just having a great time.
Last time to see Dany before she became mad.
Would have been iconic if they shouted "The king in the north"
I would've had goose bumps if everybody kneeled for their king while he looked back at Danaerys. Now that wouldve made more sense with her going mad
@@issiacmejia3385 that will be awesome
Dany would have gone furious for sure. Yes she loves Jon and he kneeled for his people and also he thought Dany deserves it, but afterall the good things she did for people, Iron Throne is her main goal whether she accepts it or not.
yeah that probably would've made this plot slightly better
@@marvelansh1569 Dany is what happens when a spoiled and overindulged child meets reality. She doesn't love Jon, she is obsessively lusting after him.
Tormund: "What kind of person climbs on a fucking dragon?"
Also Tormund earlier in the season: *Climbs on dragon to escape the army of the dead*
Well, he said either a madman or a king. Tormund is most definitely a madman. haha
2:09 since the books I always believe in the Mad Queen theory (pretty obvious when they speak so much of the whole "when a Targaryen is born the Gods flip a coin"), and moments like this make me so sad because if they had just took the time to develop it more, both in writing and visually, then the ending wouldn't have been so disappointing for so many people and it could've made more sense. This scene is a clear proof that Emilia 100% had the capability to show Dany slowly descending into madness as she was getting more and more reasons for her DNA to kick in and make her snap, and it will always be such a shame that they didn't do more with it.
Even so I think alot of it had been laid. I get the feeling of rush and I agree it couldve been better but from the core of her character Dany is sorta doomed for madness. She grows up with the knowledge of her family being what it is, her brother being willing to use and abuse her to regain that status and is then slowly given an insane amount of power unchecked. She also never knows true happiness and even the small glimpses of it with Drogo, the dragons til Jon himself are slowly taken from her. Drogo dies, so do many dragons and the moment she realizes who Jon really is she knows it's over. She even tries to convince herself it isn't by literally begging him not to tell cause she knows what's confirmed in this scene. No matter what she does Jon has a certain way of gaining faith she doesn't have without force. Everywhere he goes he finds a way to almost demand people follow him. A Man with true royal blood with those qualities? Everything that from birth her or her brother had been told was hers was gone. Or at least potentially in her mind. And it's from someone who might bring her the first and maybe last chance at happiness. Outside of what happiness she thinks she might gain from taking the throne
I’d say the mad Queen was set up well from previous seasons they just disguised it as a we understand why she did it like no emotions when Viserys is killed, burning the goat woman as revenge for Drogo, locking Daeria and Zoro in vault, ruthlessly killing the masters in Meereen, ignoring advisors when unsatisfied with their response, banishing Jorah, etc. it’s all in previous seasons but we see it from the angle of she was in the right where as Kings Landing she was not
@@LycanThrobe77 it immediately flips when she starts intertwining with the characters that until this point she never crossed paths with, but where main characters in their own plots that we followed similarly to her own pov. Characters like Jon, Sansa and so on. When we start off and she’s essentially a slave, who rises up and gains power so you root for her. Everything you just said are keys to her kinda being off and her background and family history also being a red flag. We don’t know how the story ends though and many don’t know about the books so she’s just a main character who does badass things like use her dragons to burn people who have done her wrong? Until those red flags start popping up in the presence of Jon Snow for example. Another character we have been rooting for since day 1 and typically watch on his own path surrounded by his own set of characters. Yes they are compelling characters in their own right but typically they are support characters for Jons arc. Same with Sansa and Arya and Bran. Until the last season all these characters are essentially in their own shows as main characters. The problem is things have to be accelerated now because the show runners essenatislly wanted to get it off their plate to move on to other projects. Understandably to a certain degree. The job must be hard, House if Dragon just lost its show runner before the first season is even done airing for the same reason. So while the groundwork is laid, It’s happening so fast that it appears rushed when in reality it’s just compressed. I do think the show would’ve been served better with 2 more seasons. Allow the army of the dead to be flushed out on its own and in that you can show more of the stuff they really only touched on like Danny seeing Jon being praised by his men and doing things to inspire what she think will be a rebellion. Then the final season to tie up the loose ends. But ultimately if you have been paying attention yes Danny turning mad was always sorta there and steeped in her character. She was really doomed to from the start.
@@uncledru7523 yeah I understand how that works I’m just saying even as a main character across the narrow sea while most rooted for her certain things she did were wrong and you should have been able to tell in that moment I agree more seasons should have been added the fight with the dead was rushed so I wish they would do maybe a two part movie if they could get the actors/actresses to return to do it Justice plus fix the lighting issue but writing in general went downhill that final season and Jon seemed like his character got totally deconstructed so hopefully he will get a proper storyline and ending in the new spin-off series Snow when it airs I mean not to take anything away from Arya but she has had tons of badass scenes throughout Game of Thrones possibly the most of any character Jon really should have been the one to end the night king as I saw that as his quest
@@uncledru7523yes it was laid. But we needed the standard 10 episodes. But also understand that yes D&D wanted to move to other projects but the actors did too. I believe they were told a total of 70 hours for the whole entire show. All of those who would be there at the end…Kit, Maise, Sophie, Peter et al were also ready for it to be the end. Sophie if you remember was cast as Jean Grey in the X-Men reboots and Phoenix saga was supposed to be 3 movies but she still had her commitment to GoT. That’s just one example. Bottom line as the audience we must pay attention to what is presented. From what was shown Dany’s dark turn was coming a mile away.
See, in the hands of a capable writer, this scene could work. You could very easily draw a parallel from this scene to the scene where viserys watches the Dothraki celebrate dany and says solemnly “they love her. I’m the rightful king by every law of Westeros and in my entire life, I’ve never been given the slightest bit of what they gave her in that room.” It would be a slam dunk in writing a great scene. That is, if it were in the hands of a capable writer.
Yet they made no effort to truly earn it. Both expected Westeros to automatically fall into their laps because of who they were and acting like life owes them shit.
I feel like that’s exactly what the writers did here? It’s a really well done scene.
This is really sad. I wish GoT had shown more of Daenerys backstory, to put this more in context. Dany was always lonely, she did not grew up a royal, she was born when the Targaryen dynasty fell. She was smuggled to Braavos by Ser Willem Darry who was practically the only parent she knew. He died when she was five and she and her brother were thrown out of their house . What she knew of her heritage she learned from her brother who at first was kind ended up being bitter, they had to sell all their treasures and begged for a place to stay from wealthy benefactors. She had no real friends and a brother she did love but grew to abuse her. And then she becomes Khaleesi, the husband she loves dies , she becomes Mother of Dragons and a Queen .. which set her apart from everyone else. And then she lost Jorah who gave her unconditional love. In this scene despite her power and stature she is seeing something that she has truly wanted and never had , and she realizes she cant truly have it because of who she is.
Also notice how Jon is surrounded by Wildlings. It's like foreshadowing
A lot of people don’t like his ending but I think it’s perfect because it’s what he always wanted because liked the north so much
@@connorsealey24 Jon's ending was perfect for what his character wanted. His arc ended with the best outcome. He always wanted to live free beyond the wall where shitty laws and traditions dont apply. The fact that he was a "murdered" in westeros and exiled is just a nuissance in the end.

Imagine how much more satisfying it would have seen these little moments add up over 2 or 3 seasons to properly build up Dany’s paranoia. We should have had a season of build up for the Night King. A season Dany taking over King’s Landing. And then a season of Dany “ruling” and Jon plotting to overthrow her.
i feel bad for daenerys in this one. They are all claiming to jon for mounting a dragon, that is her everyday life and it seems it doesn't even matter.
bruh they don't know her yes she helped them fight against the night king but we both know fighting a battle once together makes you best friends and besides the northerners, wildlings have known jon for years they are devoted to him just like the unsullied and dothraki are devoted to daenerys she doesn't need to get all jealous
Because Daenerys arriving to Westeros was her arrogantly assuming that they would automatically fall into her lap without her making some meaningful effort, ala Elliot Rodger.
uuuh, never realized that little moment at the end where Varys saw Dany... thats so good: him in that scene already being the only one realizing the possible troubles to come
They had that much beer available after the fight. They knew they were gonna win
She was definitely going nuts here. She is someone who always had adoration, authoritarian power. Here, she commands no respect, friendship or loyalty. Just a crazy woman with white hair trying to make people like her.
And being so pathetically lacking in self-awareness that she fails to realize it's her attitude that drives people away from her.

I love how Tormund is like
"Jon Snow LITERALLY FUCKING DIED AND GOT RESURRECTED"
And Dany, sitting 3 feet away listening, never bats a fucking eye.
It's really not something thats addressed enough by people who weren't involved.
Like it was a plot point kinda glossed over in the last 2 seasons.
She saw his wounds where he'd been stabbed in S7 though and put it together that he'd been resurrected. She'd asked about Davos' slip-up where he gave too much info when speaking up for Jon.
But yeah, I'd like if they went into the resurrection stuff more, had Dany thinking about the fact that people are only brought back for a purpose (maybe not necessarily beneficial to her making her less trusting of him), and showed the psychological effects knowing there is no after life and what he'll have to face again had on Jon a bit more.
Lots of missed opportunities.
I agree. Everywhere she went people talked about how she was unburnt. It became a title for her but for Jon it's just "oh yeah he died lol"
I wanted Jon to have a happier personality post resurrection knowing that he has only one chance at life and it's too short to be a mopey dick.

This scene reflects how out of place Dany is. Westeros is not her home. Northman are not his people. So many died in the war but northmen and wildlings celebrate because this is their land. Dany can only pretend to celebrate while mourning in silence because she herself doesn't feel like belonging to this land. She didn't come to Westeros to reclaim her throne but to conquer it.
Yet she made no attempt to ingratiate with the people. Her social "strategy" was: "I did nothing and I ran out of ideas." In her mind, not being universally worshipped counted as rejection.
Sansa saying i believe in you to jon 😂
That awkward moment when the workers are having a fun at the company party while the boss is just there. Never had a bond or a friendship with most if not ALL of the staff.
Because the boss never bothered to actually know its workers as people. The boss expected everyone to fall into his lap just because of it's post.
Dannys like "Now i can randomly become the most irrational and evil person on the show" 🤘
Sansa just chilling with Jon and the wildlings while Dany's presence just dampens things, nothing stops her from mingling with the others, she could have gone over to where Tyrion was and played his silly game. Jon always mingled with the people he was one of them which is why they chose him, Dany never really belonged anywhere, maybe with Drogo but that's about it. Jon made people his own wherever he went.
Thats great tourmound is partying the hardest. Hes been fighting the dead and the white walkers longer then anyone else there.
John had a perpose, he was the prince who was promised to protect againstknight king, thats why he came back and became a reason for death of knight king, and he return back to wear black on wall after serving his perpose... Thats destiny.
The Many-Faced God resurrected Jon just to use him as a bait to make Arya go to Winterhell.
That bludging cup
"Vomiting is not celebrating."
That man obviously never served in the Navy.
At that moment Varus realizes she's crazy.
