- Just a simple edit that focuses on Jon Snow's POV as he leads the Night's Watch during the Battle of Hardhome in Season 5, Episode 8

The craziest part about the Night's Watch mutiny is that Jon is the first Lord Commander in centuries to do the actual job of a Lord Commander: protect the living from the Others. And they kill him for it
like ned stark
Cause they were a bunch of pussies!
Stannis had seen something in him....
The crazier part about the mutiny, is that if it wasn't for one of crastors daughters, Carl tanner would've slaughtered Jon snow outright..
Facts
It's crazy how this battle was miles better than the long night.
In this battle we see named characters making small mistakes and instantly dying. In the Long Night we watch scene after scene of characters being swarmed with 3+ wights literally on top of them, scene cuts, and they are suddenly fine next scene. It's an insult to the narrative of their own show and the viewer's intelligence
Same director and same writers too. Crazy. But i guess that's what happens when the writers don't give a fuck anymore.
@@TrogDH Yup. How many times can you show Samwell freaking Tarly about to get killed but somehow magically surviving? Same with all of the scenes with Dany fighting. They literally show 4 wights about to attack her and they cut away. Absolute disgrace and insulting to us fans.
@@viniciusbaeta7997 The agenda was to troll the fans and ruin the series, it was not an accident. And the female child killing the Night King was part of the woke agenda the finished the series with. None of it was an accident.
@@officialthomasjames How about the next episode, when Dany's dragon gets noscoped 3 for 3 from a mile away by a Ballista. Then 10 MINUTES LATER she lands Drogon in an open field for the meeting with Cersei, in front of multiple of the same weapon that just annihilated her kid two scenes ago. Then not only that, Cersei doesn't IMMEDIATELY win the war by ordering them to fire on the idiot who parked her dragon. I stopped watching the show at that point, I still haven't seen the last episodes
Ahh yes, back when the Night King story arc held so much promise
It wasn’t the real big bad, Craster has been doing this for years providing vessels for the night king he might have been a night prince but this isn’t the long night or the end of the white walkers, it would be like killing off one of the sharks and saying that’s the end of the starks, the show runners got key points of the next steps but the end of season 8 is half way through the real long night and big bad that needs to take over in order for the prophecy to come true
@@thecolebunker151 Based on what information are you getting this? Craster's vessels are some of the other white walkers that we see. There is zero indication that the Night King isn't the big head honcho of them all. Except in the books, but that's an extremely different story by this point.
@@Seraphim7996 I dunno lol it just makes sense to me that they are teeing John up with his new series, they made a point of saying Drogon was heading towards Old Valeria at the end and John has gone beyond the wall, he will discover that this wasn’t even the beginning and all there armies are trashed. John needs to come back to kings landing to speak with his brother (the bowl cut rain man) where Tyrion will tell John where Drogon was last seen. For whatever reason the 3 eyed raven king bowl cut won’t be able to see Drogon and John will be forced to head out to old Valeria to find him making a tense reunion and a ton of cool stuff to explore along with a ton of new horrors
But yeah everyone called him the night king but there was never any sort of conformation that he was the top of the food chain
Plus I really want to see Jon on a dragon Vs the real night king riding an ice spider 😁
@Seraphim7996 they can potentially fox this in the jon snow sequel. As well as a Targaryen must sit the throne to combat the threat. If they do it right it can be promising
@@jb-dn5fy right! That’s what I was thinking! I’d love to see Jon then travel to the valaria homeland going through the ruins looking for drogon, finding the remains of his ex and loads of cool new things like mutants and fire monsters, artefacts etc
I love the white walker's expression when Jon's sword doesn't shatter. Hes like "oh shit."
ikr
3:56 "It was at that moment that the White Walker realized, that he, was fucked."
He's like, *thousands of year waiting and I probably should've practiced my swordplay* :P
Yeah they just look at each other like "Yo how'd that happen?"
It's like when Aragorn does that to the Ghost King :D
Let’s be honest, this was the peak of Got and what a peak it was
I personally think the Battle of the Bastards was the peak of GoT. I still go back and watch those scenes despite hating how the series ended.
Retconning needs to become a thing in film and television. If reboots can be considered normal, then retconning should too.
Battle of the Bastards was peak
Yeah, this and the battle for the Wall when Stannis came were the best.
@@richardsmith1898 Yeah, but that was when things were slipping, Ramsay with 20 men thing was stupid as hell, even though Battle of the bastards was cool. Arya was becoming a dumb character as well, stronger than adults.
0:35 “nights watch, with me!” One of my favourite moments in the whole show and just summed Jon up perfectly. Leading his men into death while thousands fled around him against all odds to save others because it was the right thing to do
And they all followed, knowing damn well they were jumping between a tidal wave of literal death and people who were just trying to kill them a couple weeks ago in the hopes of slowing said tidal wave down ever so slightly. Heroic doesn’t begin to say it.
i remember that chill down my spine when i first watched that scene
I know they always say we shall never their like again, but man... those few there that died following Jon. Truly will never see their like again.
"because if words lose their truth then nothing has meaning."
I knew in that part Jon was what a king should really be. A king who fights his own battles. I hate the character assassination they did on seasons 7 & 8. If there is a legitimate petition to rewrite and redo the 2 seasons a whole lot better or to do a season 9 with better writing and characterization at least to fix the issues I would live on a happy man.
“If they get through everyone dies”
Jon: “🗡 Nights watch!!, with me!!”
Chills
This scene showcased Jon’s inspirational leadership that he threw himself into a hopelessly lopsided fight and all his men followed him into what looked like certain death.
@@greyman6353 dude really was the chosen one along with the heir and they fucked him for it completely. They even all hinted at him killing Danny just to say fuck it send him to the wall I hate how they completely ruined this show man ffs 😂
Literally goosebumps from that quote
@@gregordrizzlewing7339 D&D are just incompetent fools.
from this to "she's muhhhhhhhh queeeen"
The way the white walkers just watch from above gave me chills. It was like were thinking "This slaughter hasn't even started yet."
Everett Law favorite scene from that episode..it made me think of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
I'm happy someone else feels the same way cause I thought I was the only one lol
+Everett Law very very interesting, really shows you how the show writers think so deeply about every single shot
It's much better in this episode than in S7, were only 6 fight against a huge amount of wights making it too videogame:y...
It never started
Jon Snow tryin to punch the white walker is one of the most badass things about this scene
Misael R he got no chill bro
Cause he's Jon Snow...
Sometimes bravery and madness is the same thing.
Like the bersekers warriors on viking age.
And the fact that the white Walker was actually pushed back. It reminds us that yes, white walkers are still physical beings
and also STUPID by him also! :D
bro's not the mountain or the hound
The white walker's face when he realizes Jon's sword didn't break cracks me up lmao
LOOOL
you know this is staged right? LOL
Why didn't his sword break ?
Marnice Rias It is made of Valyrian steel. That specific steel is unbreakable to powerful weapons like the one that white walker had
oOo Finn no shit
When Jon and Tormund look up and see the 4 horsemen of the Apocalypse on the mountain top, it sent chills down my spine. Such a haunting visual and one of my fav moments of the show.
I agree with you so much, and ... you're not going to believe me, but...
In fact, the VERY FIRST TIME I saw this scene (the very next day after its premiere), I *IMMEDIATELY* took a snapshot of this image and put it on as my Facebook cover photo.
Just... mind-shattering! :O
GoT that right!
Yea it's awesome
It always confused me - Jon says you can kill Wights only with fire and Dragonglass in S8 - but here they are killed with ordinary weapons not coated in glass?
@@firstlast9846 they arent really killed with regular weapons. Just supposed to be dismembered but still moving. The battle wasn't just to win by wiping away all the wights. Just to delay getting to the ships. CGI probably would've been too expensive to animated all the wight parts not killed properly though. Just a creative decision that most fans wont care about it.
This is the *real* threat. No schemes, no betrayals, no deceits, no back stabbing, no incestous bastards, no crown, no Iron Throne. The *things* that come to murder and turn everything and everyone into a mindless zombie, that no being can face, that is the real threat.
Shame D&D "kinda forgot" that.
Those things you mentioned still brought us some of the best material in GOT though. But this part of the story is very important as well still
Yes, but the point of the show isn't that objective problems (as we would call them, "evil") are the true cause of struggle in the world, but the selfish ambitions of people. That's why Dany and Cersei are the ultimate villains instead of the Night King, because they represent the idea of selfish ambition for power - one masks it, the other doesn't. The Night King could be viewed as nothing more than a force of nature, he's just acting according to his nature - but the various schemers around the Iron Throne, they aren't compelled in any way to act how they do. You can even translate the issue to real life - global warming is a real and deadly threat tearing more and more lives apart every day, yet notmuch is done about it because it would "endanger private profits" - how is that any different than Cersei pledging to help fight the Night King but choosing to consolidate her position without helping?
Of course, it is strange why JRR Martin chose to have two women represent this particular human evil, when in real life it is almoat exclusively represented by men (Tywin is the closest to the portrayal of an evil ambitious man, but I fell he was cast with much more symphathy than Cersei or Dany).
@@vebdaklu wow dude! Well said! That is exactly how I thought about The Night king and the White walkers. They aren’t really the evil, but a force of nature. Like a metaphor for global warming. Everyone in Westeros denying this world ending threat is a very good parallel to the real world, that humans greedy and ignorant struggle for power, resources, wealth and status when there is lurking this civilisation ending threat. That we needed this unity and cooperation if we were to survive, exactly what Jon Snow had been doing all this time. The ironic thing is also from HOTD they explained the reason for Aegon conquering/uniting the seven realms and making the Iron throne was because of his dream of the threat from the north. Meaning that all this struggle for the Iron throne, the power and all the events in the show has its roots with the threat from the north. Like all these events can trace back to that. But all this just makes the fight for throne meaningless, because the very reason for making throne and uniting the seven realms was because of the White Walkers. It suggests that the political machinations and battles for power that dominate much of the series are ultimately distractions from the true threat. The ending just undermines everything about the story. It is so anti-climatic and disappointing how they executed it. Like, they could have easily killed the Night king on the dock in season 5 with an arrow tipped with dragonglass/valyrian steel. Would make more sense that his only weakness would be only one thing, i.e Lightbringer which the heroes would struggle to make. Season 8 was terrible, so many plotholes and idiotic writing. Like it was easy to stop global warming, barely an inconvenience. Such stupid. All this buildup for nothing. Everything becomes boring and one dimensional when they so easily fixed the apocalypse. What was the point of “Winter is coming” even.
All this also explains why Cersei or Dany not should have been the final villains. (I was not okay with dany becoming a villain. They ruined her character also). Because the theme and narrative was that this struggle for the throne didn't really matter, but the unity of humanity. Essentially season 8 message was that backstabbing, schemes, struggle for power mattered. How is that a good message to tell everyone. Point of stories is to give you an experience and often times as inspiration and motivation. How is backstabbing a good message for humanity? That we should just keep on being aholes towards each other?
I know Jon never was at Hardhome in the book, but I love that they made this slight change in the show!
+Lexyvil Agreed, I just remember reading about Hardhome and being like 'what the fuck happened there?' rather than whatever Jon was doing at the wall at this point
@@TeddyOG same here dead things in the woods dead things in the water it’s like ohhhh damn but I think in winds they might actually go up there once jon resurrects
This was definitely one of the things the series did better than the book. In the books it was one of those irritatingly common "IT WAS AMAZING YOU SHOULDA SEEN IT!" scenes that the author could not be arsed to detail.
Well Hardhome hasn't happened yet so we may or may not see him there after he is resurrected
@@lettheloveflow I think they’ll use the Manderley’s fleet to go get them all something like that.
The moment when Valyrian Steel hit the White Walker's weapon.... I got chills down my spine (no pun intended)
+Ektadizzle same when superman punch was stopped by batman
+321bluff no just no, LOL he edited his comment. He said it was like when Batman blocks Superman's punch.
yea and when superman touched batman and he flew back like 100 meters
Jon's face when the realization dawned in him.. so iconic
very aragorn and the oathbreakers. love it ;)
"Night's Watch, with me! Move! Move! Move!"
One of the best scenes in the series. In this moment we all knew that he will be a great Commander.
What the fuck are you talking about? That was an incredibly weak shout.
This is why Jon's story is not over.
kuledinho spoiler he dies by a sword in his back.
its still not over
Sir Oteuc nah its ovaaaaaaa
Nope sorry but arya a character that has had 0 to do with the white walkers killed the night king super easy
"U r MaH KwEeN"
Such amazing foreshadowing gone to waste.
I love Arya, but it was supposed to be Jon. Rip entire Azor Ahai plotline
Right?! And here they are trying to hype that up in House of Dragons when we all know it means dick.
My opinion changes on a daily basis with GoT, but this episode, in particular the 20-odd minutes dedicated to Hardhome was some of the best TV i've seen. Shot beautifully and absolutely hammers home those immortal words "Winter is Coming".
The 4 Horsemen of the apocalypse.
+Pedro Valente So this is a prequel to xmen lol
This scene you would find in a big Hollywood movie such good work
the type of scene that will give a movie a nomination in all categories of the golden globes/oscars
Game of Thrones is the best series of all time
+Aanand Bajaj LOL
Aanand Bajaj 😳 You're probably no older then twenty, not well placed to judge.
This scene is better than everything in The Last Jedi.
Lets be honest Jon Snow is by far the bravest character in tv history
I think my favorite thing about him is that he isn't the best fighter in the show. Like he is able to hold his own, and there isn't anything wrong with being an absolute trooper. But he is literally just a guy trying to do the right thing, that and the heir to the iron throne but honestly could care less about that aspect of him.
Or dumbest.
@@vector3813 that speech before the battle was not dumb rather brilliant
Book Jon is brilliant. They ruined show jon post season 5 in the show.
@@rashadcross8452 Huh? Jon snow is referred to in the books and the series as a top-tier swordsman, he could hold his own against Brianna, the hound, Jamie.. He was a natural with the sword combined with a passion for it. He might not be 'the best' but he is definately out there as one of the best.
Love how the watchmen follow him without question
Jon was the king Westeros needed. He's closest to Ned than any of his children.
I love to see Jon fight. He's majestic. His hair flying as he swings his sword.
2:03 jon’s signature move
Yea I remember him doing that in battle of the bastards
It's such a beautiful move
This is still one of the greatest hours of television available
Ah, that epic moment when Jon Snow and the Night King see each other for the first time. I'm so happy that this would eventually lead into a thrilling finale between the two. Oh hang on...
The Night King takes the Words "What is dead may never die but rises again harder and stronger" literally.
Oh man what an epic one-on-one duel with one of the primary antagonists of the series, I can't wait to see the various Valyrian steel swords wielded by our most skilled characters to show off their incredible talents against the White Walkers and Night's King in the climactic final battle!
That’s what we were all hoping for 😢
Indeed... indeed....
😢😭
Honestly, how did they manage to fuck it up so badly from here. This was unbelievable 🤦🏻♂️
This was the show at its peak, the first taste of the horrifying battle against the dead.
In case you're wondering, the Thenn is named Loboda. The Wildling woman is named Karsi.
And also, while I'm at it, Loboda challenging the White Walker took balls. Sure, he lost, but he gets props for trying!
NicholasGeschke "I fucking hate Thenns"
That's why the Thenn's Magnars were revered, with godlike gravitas.
NicholasGeschke gotta give Jon snow props for trying to punch the white walker lol
im not wondering so thanks for nothing dude !
shut up vosk
1:37 that moment always gives me such chills.
This is honestly quite possibly the best TV episode I've ever seen, splendid acting and overall very well executed, got chills watching the whole second half
Dude Jon Spinning and cutting a Wight in half was so badass
* Emperer Palpatine *
Your hate has made you powerful...
1:08 i love whenever jon gives his sword a little twirl
3:58 that face when you play with cheats and encounter another cheater
Lmao
Jon is a badass
I remember watching this for the first time, it was so intense, i swear i didn't breathe for like 20 minutes. I was frozen watching it.
"Night's Watch! With me!" Epic
Just take a moment to appreciate that when he was disarmed, Jon Snow attempted to punch a fooking white walker in the face.
Legend
1:33 look at this...
This is art
The best scene of whole season 5. OMG I can't wait for this new season
Yeah, about that...
Oh this didn’t age well 😂
1:30 is one of the best moments from Game of Thrones. You get so caught up in the intrigue and rivalries and battles between humans that you forget that that this world is magical and ancient, filled with things that a person in Kings Landing would never have even heard of.
Just seeing these *things* watching as the massacre unfolds makes you realize that all the drama south of the wall is meaningless in the face of Night.
The swords collide.
Walker: What!?
Jon: What!?
Parry. Slash. Boom.
Best scene in GoT. I remember how amazing this was when I first watched it.
Nights Watch with me...EPIC!
And what even more epic is that his men actually follow him...
I remember the moment Jon parried with Longclaw and it rang against the Walker's spear... my brother and I lost our shit and both realised at the same time that Valyrian steel can kill the fuckers... Great episode
3:53 one of the best GOT moments and still gives me chills. Jon finding out Longclaw is made out of Valyrian steel the white walker’s face because his spear/ sword should have shattered his sword and killed him, and finally the whole fight scene is just one of the best fights in Game Of Thrones in general. Such a goated show
Jon knew Longclaw was Valyrian ages ago The Commander told him
This is the absolute best moment in the show. Bar none.
Jon is so heroic
I still think the last 20 minutes of hardhome is some of the best television ever done. this entire show though is phenomenal. it's done what no other show other than probably breaking bad could, do. maintain consistently great, high quality televsion.
This aged poorly
Favorite episode, even more than Blackwater, almost was like a horror movie
The GOT crew do better battle scenes than any current Hollywood studio.
S7 was rather bad though. They are very few and pretty much everyone survived.
Season 8 was shit there was none of them and everyone survived
Jon's fight against the Other inside the hut is the one scene in GoT that terrified me.
Felt the need to rewatch this after watching King Viserys talk about the prince that was promised unite the realm against the cold and the dark :)
Ah, back when we thought the White Walkers posed a serious threat, and were the main antagonists in the series...
I love this shot and the music at 1:55
Longclaw, Jon Snow's Valyrian steel sword (special gifted by Lord Jeor Mormont, with pommel remade to a direwolf) just sweetly SINGS on contact with the Whitewalker's White Walker's ultra-hard crystal ice blade weapon. Whitewalker's shock!
You know you're a badass when you try to punch a white walker armed with a f*cking ice sword
Hardhome was the best thing I saw on TV, Battle of Bastards comes in second. Jon Snow is the best character in GOT easily
JON SNOW, WHAT A MAN!!!
3:58 It was at this moment that this White Walker knew... he fucked up.
Jon Snow knows fucking something.
3:22= "WHY DIDNT YOU FREEZE SOLID!"
Little did the ice man know, he was fighting fire made flesh.
Hardhome is by far the most difficult GoT scene to watch! On the one hand, I can barely watch it, on the other hand I can't look away! Brilliant!
try season 8.
@@tookiezzz2898 yeah that comment aged like milk
Any restaurant worker should see this as a metaphor for a Sunday lunch rush when church lets out.
3:00 did jon snow really go for a right hook against a white walker. I've seen it all now.
a left hook
Left straight.
Regardless of how the end of the show turned out, I always really enjoyed Jon Snows character in the show. Minus all the mah queen stuff, his character development is so crazy. Even here, the lady is basically saying he needs to escape so he can "enforce" his orders, but he is clearly conflicted at just running and letting a ton of people die. Very cool, thanks for uploading :D
love this scene so fucking savage
the most epic episode in game of thrones
This episode and the Hodor episode were the only two in the series that showed the credits in silence with no music. It made you take in what just happened…
Maybe the best battle/scene/episode of all the 8 seasons
"Night's watch, with me!" ❤
The night king saw how his commander got killed by Jon and since then, he never wanted to fight Jon one on one
Love how both of their reactions are “wtf?!”
My favorite episode. What a letdown on how the series ended
By far the best episode of the series
Valyrian steel officially will kill White Walkers.
This was peak Thrones. Imagine if the battle for the livng and dead had truly lived up to this magnitude.
The White Walkers were so intimidating when they weren't shown very often
Nobody brings this up but one dragonglass arrow aimed at the Night King could have had this entire war averted
If not at Hardhome, then at every other instance he showed up
Jon: Oh no it’s the Night King!
Random Wildling: *shoots the Night King with a dragon glass arrow, all the wights fall dead*
Jon: …Well that was easy.
Or bran could have tied dragon glass daggers to birds and controlled them
Which is a major plothole of the entire show! Would make more sense that the Night King would be stronger than the other walkers, i.e his only weakness would be Light bringer which the heroes would struggle to make.
Jaqen H’ghar- a name, any name? 😳
1:34 I love that shot, the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse.
The only bad thing of this episode is that i won't be able to see it like the first time again.
This still remains one of the greatest episodes of TV you can watch. GOT was an incredible show in spite of the awful story mistakes.
I het chills at “Nights Watch …with me” everytime
Omg the battle with that White Walker was awesome, i can't wait until John fights the Night King!!! I bet is gonna be the biggest and best battle of the show!! ❤❤
You know what's crazy when rewatching it, in Karsi's last scene she's the last to get up implying her soul might have been alive and tried to stop becoming a member of the undead this might be because she's shown as a resolute and caring character in the show, which also implies that that in some way they were conscious of what they became and ended up doing which makes this scene all the more terrifying.
That makes it far more horrifying
That makes it far more horrifying
That makes it far more horrifying
That makes it far more horrifying
That makes it far more horrifying
This was easily the best episode of season 5
4:02 Airbending SLICE !!
This was my favorite battle in the show
I'm still upset at how they completely ruined this show, sigh.
THE GOAT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS, PROTECTOR OF THE REALM
My fav. episode so far
The whole show and books are about Jon Snow, if people don't realise that then they haven't being paying attention.
How Can you be so sure of it? Could you explain yourself?

The best episode of the whole series
I'd like to think that this is the reason the night king and jon snow's 1v1 never happened. The dude avoided him because he knew he gonna get shattered 😂
Totally
Night's watch, with me!
The most underrated moment of this is when Jon looks atop the cliffs and see's the Night King and his minions observing the panic. It shows there is a mind and coordination behind the white walkers. A mysterious, undead intelligence.
HE NEVER QUESTIONED HOW IS SWORD KILLED IT! HE JUST LOOKED FOR MORE DRAGONGLASS
Bea U. True and that bit is still unanswered in the show.
The sword is made from Valeryian steel. Literally infused with Dragon fire and if the rumours are true then blood as well and they never break. Valeryian steel is very hard to come by seeing as there is at least 5 kicking about in westeros so it's simple that the white walker was shocked because he never came up against a weapon like that
Those 5 seconds of silence 03:55 is why I keep coming back to watch this battle. Goosebumps ↗️↗️↗️
One of the best battle scenes
Can't wait to see the hound with Jon and tormund such a badass crew going north of the wall this season
Only if Arthur Dayne was alive to join them randomly lol, that'll be a army to be reckoned with for the undead
Prepare to be disappointed worst episode of the series in my opinion
