Sometimes if you do the luma + gaussian route, changing the blend mode under the opacity to screen or add makes it isolated to the light source / brighter highlights a little better
Is it possible to do the first method with an adjustment layer instead of duplicating the clip? If i want to apply a bloom effect on my entire timeline with a bunch of clips
Nice tutorial. Thanks. How about duplicating the layer and moving it to the track above, as you did, then applying the Gaussian blur to it and combining with the original below by using a blending mode and adjusting with strength of the effect using the opacity slider?
Thanks for the video. Is this the same look as a "Filmic" look, like, say "Jaws" looked like (movies of the 70's)? That's what I'm trying to get. I dont like lol the 4K look, too clean. like the "grainy" look of older films? How to get THAT effect. :-) Thank you!

@donuth01e yes, of course. It's nit and original idea. It's an old photoshop thing to create that look on stills. Works the same.

Here’s an easier way, put Gaussian blur onto an adjustment layer. Change blend mode to Screen
